Episode 2: The Avatar Returns 
Season 1 

Chapter 10 Appa

Third person POV. 

"Luna! Appa!" Katara yelled out. 

"You just love taking me out of my comfort zone, don't ya?" Sokka asks his sister, he was not impressed with this plan. 

Luna's eyes landed on the two siblings and their grandmother. Her heart hurt even more when she didn't see Aang with them. Her heart was beating so fast that when she jumped and landed in front of Sokka, her words came out soft and out of breath sounding, "Sokka where's Aang!?" 

Sokka quickly tensed up and looked away from her. He couldn't look her in the eyes, he just couldn't, "Sokka, where's Aang!?" She repeated again and this time more deeper and darker than last time. 

If her mask was off, Sokka would have seen her sharp cat-like teeth accidentally bite into her soft reddish lip causing blood to appear and drip down her lip. "I'm sorry Luna," he said softly. He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly and scares, he keeps his eyes off her. 

She growls and walks to him and grabs his hood and pulls him to look at her, "What are you sorry about?" She snaps out. 

Katara came over to help her brother, "I'm sorry--" 

"Why do you two keep on saying you're sorry. Don't be sorry just tell me where Aang is?" She snaps out.

"The fire navy has him!" Sokka bluntly yells out. "Where are they taking him?" She asks him. "Dear, please let go of my grandson?" gran asks her kindly.

The old lady understood why she was acting this way, but still. 

"Sorry" she mumbles out and quickly let's go of Sokka and steps away from him. "Please take me to him?" She asks them. "Yes then let's go" Katara yelled out. She was already on Appa ready to go. 

Third person POV.

"This staff will make an excellent gift for my father. I suppose you wouldn’t know of father's, being raised by monks," Zuko said. "Take the Avatar to the prison hold, and take this to my quarters," he adds on to the guards and then to his uncle. 

Iroh took Aang's glider staff into one hand and Zuko walked away from them. Iroh watches Zuko for a second before turning to the guard beside him, "hey, you mind taking this to his quarters for me?" Iroh asks him and then wakes away after the guard grabs a hold of it. 

Aang gets pushed away to get the cell, Aang watches Zuko leave and the guards take him down the stairs. He looks around himself, "so, I guess you've never fought an airbender before. I bet I can take you both with my hands tied behind my back" Aang brags to them. 

"Silence!" 

They stop and Aang looks ahead of him before he gets the great idea, he starts to look like he was going to sneeze and he does in a way. Both guards go flying back and knock them down. 

Aang jumped up the stairs onto the main deck, he jumped and kicked and blew the metal to get it open before rushing in, he ran down the metal hallway breathing heavily. 

Third person POV. 

Luna sat anxiously. She was turned away from the two siblings as she didnt want them to see her scar as she was biting her nails raw. She was stressing out so bad that it had caused her to bite them so bad that they started to bleed. She couldn't even think straight, she tried to but everything went back to Aang.

The only thing she could think about was Aang. Was he ok? Is he already free? Is he cold? And so on. Too many thoughts crashed through her head making her crazy. 

"Go"

"Fly. Soar" 

"Please, Appa, we need your help, Aang needs your help," Katara said. 

"Up. Ascend. Elevate" 

Luna quickly turns around fast to fast the annoying older brother, "Sokka! shut up!" she snaps out. Sokka jumps slightly as he was not expecting her loud voice to snap at him again. "Sorry" she grumbles out. She quickly turned back around and went back to biting her nails and making them raw. 

A second later her mind snapped back to reality, "Yip, yip" Sokka said. Luna smiles as Appa flaps his tail and then sores up into the sky. 

"He's flying, he's flying! Katara, Luna! Hes..." Sokka stopped speaking as he saw the girls' expressions on their faces.

"I mean, big deal, he's flying," he said back. Luna smirks and walks over to him. "I told you" she smirks out. "Shut up" he grumbles out and sits down. 

Third person POV. 
Time skip

Luna gasps in pain. Sokka jumped and looked at her, "hey are you ok." He asks worriedly. 

She shakes her head and then nods her head, "yeah, yeah I'm fine" she lies to him. Something must have happened to her soulmate, she feels like she was just slammed into the wall with so much force that it knocked the wind out of her lungs. 

Sokka moves closer to her and rubs her back softly. “Are you sure? That sounded like a gasp of pain instead of a gasp of shock or surprise” he said.

Luna shakes her head again, “i-”

"There he is!" Katara yells out. 

Luna quickly pushes away from Sokka and rushes over to where Katara was pointing at. When Luna's eyes locked down onto the ship she could see Aang and she smiled, but quickly fell as she saw that he was fighting them. She gasps out, she sticks her arm behind her back without looking to the front of her, her glider goes straight into her hand... a bit too hard but she doesn't care. 

She places her mask over her mouth and then opens her glider, runs and jumps off Appa, she soars down towards the ship and towards one of the guards, she kicks him and lands on top of him. She quickly places her hood over her head and then closes the glider. She quickly rushed over to Aang and stood in front of him and twirled her staff and blocked the fire that was supposed to be for Aang, "Back off!" She growled out. The guy, Zuko, didn't stop and continued to attack her now with his fire. 

Every fire that went to her she dodged and got closer to him, as she found the right time to dodge and rush under the fire and towards the Zuko and knocked him back by air. He tumbled back a couple times before he got back and rushed towards Luna who was faced to Aang asking him if he was ok, before Aang could tell her to watch out Zuko didn't hesitate and threw her back with his fire causing Luna to slam her back on the boat railing hard. She gasps out in pain and falls down onto her knees. 

As the sound of Luna's back slammed into the railing Zuko got this sharp pain in the middle of his back that took him off guard and stumbled back slightly as he fought Aang, once again that didn't stop Zuko. 

Luna looked up at the wrong time and saw Aang slipping off the ship, "Aang!" She screams out. She pushes up and goes to rush after him. But some fire navy guy guards jumped in front of her. 

Zuko looked over to the airbender confused. The last thing he knew was that there was only one last airbender but there were two. One male and one woman. 

Luna fought against the guards trying to get to the other side of the ship but she couldn't. There were too many guards shooting fire at her. Luna hisses out as she feels a burning sensation on her right arm. She was just burned, "ouch" she growls out. 

Her eyes snapped to her arm and then to the guys in front of her, before she kicked off Aang landed in front of her with water around him. He was in his Avatar form. 

Luna watched in amazement as Aang saved her from the other fire guards. The glow disappears and Luna gasps as Aang slowly stumbles to the side and she quickly grabs a hold of him before he falls, "Aang! Are you ok?" She asks him, scared. "Aang! Is he ok?" Katara rushes over to them. 

"Hey, Luna. Hey Katara, Sokka. Thanks for coming" Aang said weakly. 

Luna sighs in relief and hugs onto him, she digs her face in neck and tries to fight the urge of crying or yelling at him. She is still probably going to, just not yet.

"Well, I couldn't let you have all the glory," Sokka said. 

Luna could feel Aang move his head to the side, "I dropped my staff" he said. Luna giggles lightly and pulls away from him. 

"Got it," Sokka said. Luna gets up and goes after hers that were actually close to Aangs. She swiftly grabs her glider and does a flip and lands on her feet softly. Her hood falls off her head and she looks over to the side.

Luna jumps. The guy with the scar on... the hot guy with the scar on his face was holding onto Aang's staff. Luna stood there watching the guy trying to get onto the ship and she watched Sokka bonk the staff on the guy's head and he fell. 

Luna's eyes snap wide and she rushes over and looks down towards him. The scar guy was holding onto the chains looking up towards her.

"Ha. That's for the water Tribe!" Sokka yelled out happily. He rushes past Luna to Appa. 

Zuko's eyes widened as he looked at Luna, he saw the cat's ears... but what got him was her eyes, he didn't know but her eyes were... so… beautiful and breathtaking. 

"Luna!" Sokka yelled out who was hitting the ice around his feet. Luna ripped her face with the guy to Sokka and then back to the guy one more time. 

She rushes away and dodge the guards, she slides and hits the last part of the ice that was stuck on Sokka's feet, "come on" she said, dragging him with her. 

They got on Appa, "yip, yip!" Sokka yells out. 

Luna sighs when she feels the air flow through her hair. She looked over Appa and down to the ship again. Her eyes looked for the guy hoping she would see him on the ship again, he was with an older looking guy. 

Her eyes locked with the scar guy again and she felt this wave of... Luna's eyes snapped wide and stumbled back. "Luna help!" Aang said. She looks back down to see fire coming towards them, "icewall" she said. 

Seconds she said that Aang was running and jumping into the sky holding his staff in his hands and hitting the fireball that goes the wall causing an avalanche to happen and cover half of the ship. 

Aang, Katara and Sokka celebrate on the win, Luna on the other hand was in shock. Her heart was beating so fast in her chest and she felt sick. She didn't know how to feel right now, her soulmate was the enemy. 

Third person POV. 

"Good news for the fire lord. The fire Nation's greatest threat is just a little kid... and a lovely girl" Iroh said. 

Zuko turns his head to his uncle, "that kid, uncle, just did this. I won't underestimate him again. Dig the ship out and follow them!" He snaps out. 

Zuko eyes land on the frozen guards, he turns away, "As soon as you're done with that" he adds on slightly awkwardly. 

His eyes looked to the spot where the bison was. He didn't understand anything, why was he feeling weird in his chest when he looked at the girl with cat ears and a black mask. 

Who was she? Why does she have cat ears? And why is she adorable looking?

Third person POV. 

Luna was sitting on Appas head watching ahead of her, "how did you do that? With the water? It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen" Katara said. 

"I don't know. I just, sort of, did it" he said. He wasn't looking at anyone as he sat and spoke. 

"Why didn't you tell us you were the Avatar?" Katara asks. 

Luna's ears twitched as she listened in, "Because... I never wanted to be" Aang said. 

Luna quickly got up and got to Aang and kneeled down and placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's ok Aang," she whispers to him. He shrugs her hand off his shoulder and she sighs, it was quiet for a few seconds before Katara spoke, "but, Aang, the world's been waiting for the Avatar to return and finally put an end to this war" 

"And how am I going to do that?" He asks her. 

Luna already knew this, he had told her all this already... a hundred years ago. 

"According to legend, you need to first master Water, then Earth, then Fire, right?" She asks him. 

"That's what the monks told us," Luna said, for Aang. 

Aang looks away from Luna's hands to Katara, Aang grasps her hand in his and lightly squeezes it, "well, if we go to the north pole you can master waterbender" Katara said. 

Aang's expression changed, he straightened his back more and smiled at her, "We could learn it together!" Aang said. 

Luna smiles, "and Sokka I'm sure you'll get to knock some firebender heads on the way" she said to him. Katara giggles and nods her head and adds on, "that would be fun" 

Sokka smiles at Luna, "I'd like that, I’d really like that" he said. 

"Then, we're in this together" 

"Alright. But before I learn water bending, we have some serious business to attend to" 

Luna listens and lands beside Aang to see what he was up to. He pointed on the map saying places where they had to go first and what they would be doing and she giggles and shakes her head at him. She got up and found herself a place to rest close to the back with her hood over her eyes and a small smile on her face.
