Chapter 5 Sorry

Third person POV. 

Luna was resting back laying back with Aang beside her, her eyes closed embracing the feeling around her. It was getting dark out so sleep was falling upon all of them. Just one was still very curious about the lost avatar.

Katara crawled over the edge and looked down towards them. Luna was too relaxed and tired to listen in on Katara's movements so when she spoke it scared her bad, "Hey!". 

Hearing Katara's greeting made Luna's heart speed up so fast in her chest and like how Aang flew up into the sky hours ago because of his sneeze, she went flying too… but this time not straight up but forward and right into the cold water. The loud splash and this overwhelming scared feeling woke up Sokka who got up quickly and rushed over to the side to see what had happened. 

Luna's eyes snapped open big, but quickly closed them as the water bothered her eyes too much. Everything was blurry and everything hurt. Her head is pounding and throbbing so harshly that she could even hear her fast beating heart beat in her head. The loud thudding was causing her to panic even more. She wanted to gasp but she couldn't because if she did her lungs would be filled with water. She grasped her head tightly, she was getting scared. She hates being in water... She is after all a cat neko. 

Sokka stood there confused about what was happening, his eyes darted over to where Luna was before he fell asleep and found her nowhere. His eyes went back to cold rippling water. He couldn't hear his sister or Aang's voice since all he could hear was his own heart beat and a faint sound of being underwater. He slightly brings his hand up to his head. His throat was bruning like he needed air when he was perfectly fine to breathe the air in around him. He felt this overwhelming feeling of fright, anxiety and desperation, but again he wasn't feeling that he was perfectly fine… tired but fine, it was someone else's feelings taking over his body and the only thing that clicked in his head was to follow where is soulmate went. he doesn't know what to do to help. 

Sokka quickly dived into the water and stopped and looked around himself. He could hardly see, it was dark blurry out but he was also in the freezing water. That didn't stop Sokka from looking for her though, snapping his head and body around his eyes finally landed on a dark blurry figure. He swam towards it quickly and the closer he got to it he could tell it was his scared soulmate who held her head tightly. He wrapped his arms around her body and swam towards the surface. Luna opened her eyes slightly but quickly closed them, she already knew who it was so she wrapped her arms around him and dug her face into his neck. As they reached the surface both of them gasped for air and held onto each other. 

Luna snaps open her eyes and looks to Sokka, he was already looking down towards her worried for her, “Are you ok?” he asks her. Both breathless, “Hmm, hmm” she nods her head fast. Sokka brings his hand out of the water and pushes away some hair that covers her face. 

“Luna! Are you ok!” Aang yells out. 

Luna snaps her eyes away from Sokka's blue ones to Aang. She nods her head, “Come on,” Sokka said. He helps her to the bison and on him. A few seconds later he was on with her. Both were back on their safely net, Appa. 

“I’m sorry Luna I didn't mean to scare you!” Katara said, rushing over to her. Luna coughs and shakes her hands in front of her, “No, no it's ok you didn't mean to…” she replied back fast. “Yeah… Luna doesn't like being in water… she is a cat neko after all” Aang said, scratching the back of his, “Are you ok?” he asked his oldest friend. 

Again Luna nods her head, “Yeah i'm fine” she said. She pulls her masks off her face alongside her cloak. Both siblings were looking at her, Sokka's eyes were on her face as Katara looked at her ears. 

Luna grabs her black hair and twists it to get most of the water out before spinning around quickly into the sky, the air she pulled around her dried her clothes and hair off, her feet slowly landed onto the ground softly and her hands slowly floating down beside her. She looked up to lock eyes with Sokka, his eyes wandered down to her lips and stayed there. He wanted to know what had happened to her? But all she thought was he was judging her. She looked away feeling a pit form into her chest and stomach. She kept her eyes away from the two siblings as she grabbed her cloak and used her airbending to dry it as best as she could and place it on her body to cover up. 

Aang looked away from Luna sadly, “I'm sorry... she… doesn't like when people look at her lips and ears… the scars and ears make her feel insecure” he said to them. He bent down and grabbed a hold of her mask and did the same thing his sister did. Aang placed it into her hand and she quickly placed it over her face and finally turned back to them. 

Her eyes landed on Sokka's quickly. Her cheeks heated up fast and she looked back down, “I didn't mean to make her feel that way,” Katara said to him.

Luna didn't know what to say to that so she stayed quiet and stared at the ground feeling the pit in her chest tighten even more. Sokka placed a hand over his chest as he felt the same pit in his chest and stomach, he knew it wasn't his feeling more than his soulmate's emotions, “It's ok, you didn't know” Aang said. 

Aang and Katara slowly drifted off to the side leaving Luna standing there rubbing her arm awkwardly and Sokka staring at her. Luna could feel his eyes on her, she slightly tilts her head to the side and looks at him. She giggles as they land on her soaking soulmate, “thank you Sokka for jumping into the water and saving me” she said quietly to him.

She smiles and brings her hand up and closes it, quickly there was a harsh wind around sokka and dried his clothes. She giggles as he stands there with big eyes, arms out as he stumbles around slightly, “No more magic” he said. 

She giggles again and shakes her head, “Probably not going to be last time i do that” she said. He groans and sits down with a small huff but a smile spreads over his face. 

Luna shakes her head and walks away from him and goes back to where she was laying before. The pit in her chest and stomach had disappeared and she didn't clue in on it until now. She laid there staring at the dark navy sky, Aang had followed her and Katara went and sat back down to the edge and she looked at the both of them again. 

Luna turns her head towards Katara, “You were going to ask us a question before my mistake happened, what was it?” she asks the young girl. “Yeah what were you thinking about?” Aang asks her. 

Luna pushes up and looks at the two of them, "Well I guess I was wondering, the two of you being airbenders and all, if you had any idea what happened to the Avatar" Katara asks them. 

Luna could feel Aang tense up, "uhh... no. I didn't know him. I mean, I knew people that knew him, but I didn’t. Sorry" he lied to her. 

Katara looked over to Luna after Aangs responded to see her response, "sorry I didn't get to meet him... he... was quite fast" she said, shrugging her shoulders and laying back down to look at the darkening skies. 

She didn't know why Aang lied, but she trusted him and helped him out. She was anyways going to ask him about it, even though she probably already knew why. 

"Okay. Just curious, Good night! And I'm sorry again Luna" Katara said. She smiles at the two airbenders and then turns around to go lay down for bed. "Sleep tight" Aang said, he was unsure what he had just done. 

He had just lied to her and Luna lied for him. He was feeling guilty, she waves her hand around, “It's ok Katara and good night” Luna yells out. She opens her eyes and looks at Aang who sat there feeling bad.  

Luna sat up quickly and moved to sit beside him, she looked at him but he didn't look at her so she lightly nudged him, "Hey, Aang you ok?" She asks him quietly. 

She wasn't trying to be sneaky and quiet because Aang had just lied to Katara but she didn't want to be loud for them. They needed their sleep as much as she needed it. 

"Yeah... I'm sorry that I brought you into my lies again" he said quietly to her. His eyes are casted down towards his hands, "eh, it's fine. You've covered for me plenty of times before, so I'll cover for you... but why?" She asks him. 

"You know why" he mumbles out with a soft smile on his face. He remembered all the lies he helped hide from the others, it was funny and thrilling.

"Hmm... well at one point they need to know" she said to him. She places a hand into his shoulder softly, "But for now I believe you should sleep on it. I understand why and Katara will too. It's not your fault" she adds on. 

Aang's body language and expressions changed from scared and guilty to tired and happy. He was happy to have Luna around, having his best friend who understands him more than anyone was great. Both of them knew each other well enough to know what the both were thinking about what they needed. Not all the time, but a good amount. 

"Ok, thank you Luna for your wise words," he said, smirking. Luna rolls her eyes at him and pushes him playful, "go to bed Aang" she said. She got up and went back to where she was sitting before and laid back down. 

Her eyes casted to the dark skies,  Aang followed her and place his arms behind his head, "Night Luna" 

"Night Aang, Appa" she whispers out. "Night Appa!" Aang whispers yells out. Luna smiles at the boy. 

A few minutes later Luna could hear Aang, Sokka and Katara light breathing, they had drifted off to sleep leaving Luna being the only one awake. She didn't mind being the only one up, she was tired but she couldn't sleep, not yet at least. 

Since living at the Air temple she was trained differently from the others, she had her normal Airbending training and she also had her other classes to attend to. Being a cat neko things were different, she was an airbender but she was also something very more precious and valuable. She was powerful in different ways and that was why her kind was killed off. They had to keep her secret from anyone, if someone had found out that there was a neko still alive she and her people would be in danger. 

Her especially would cause more chaos then Luna just being a normal neko, she was much more than just a normal black cat neko airbender. Keeping her a secret alongside Aang's secret were their top priorities, up until they messed up. 

Luna only overheard them say it once and that time was the day they left. She sighs at theos memories and looks to the side of her. She looked at all the icebergs they passed. Her mind was wandering again to her soulmate. 

When Luna was training she asked about soulmates and she was told about them. They told her everything they knew about them and everytime they did tell Luna, she got even more interested in them, she wanted to know more and she did learn more. 

She learned everything she could about them, she found out that some soulmates meet by timers as others found their soulmates by their names being printed on their wrists. Some soulmates felt their soulmates pain and emotions, even if they were far away from each other. She learned that a touch of your soulmate would cause so much emotion to flow through your body. 

A single touch by your soulmate will cause your stomach to erupt with butterflies, a loving feeling will flow through your body making you nice and warm. A single touch of a soulmate will calm you down and make your bad days turn good. Just being close to them causes you to feel safe and loved. 

Luna also learned about the bonding process and that day Lunas cheeks were redder than fire. She wouldnt look anyone in the eyes for a week. Luna knew everything she needed to know about soulmates and at the end of her journey, she found out what she wanted to know. 

Luna's eyes were snapped wide as she remembered about the bonding process… and her cheeks were on fire as she imagined Sokka laying beside.. She shakes her head and clothes her eyes tightly. She shakes her head and closes her eyes and just tries to fall asleep, a few minutes later she falls asleep peacefully with a smile on her face. 

Her dream was filled up with small cute little ones about him, her soulmate. Sokka. 

Third person pov. 

Sokka was still up, he couldn't fall asleep. How could he? his soulmate was just a few steps away from him. He could feel her emotions running through his body telling him so many things from her. He felt happy, to shock, to…  

His cheeks went red, he quickly turned to his side as closed his eyes fast and did his best to fall asleep. It took a bit but he did. He fell asleep dreaming about his soulmate who giggled and danced with him.
