Unfamiliar Faces

'Harry!' Harry's mom exclaimed for the millionth time, trying to get his attention.
'Mhm,' Harry finally snapped out of his trance, looking up from his now cold scrambled eggs that he'd been silently picking at for the last few minutes.

'Harry, you need to hurry up and eat your breakfast or you'll be late for school,' his mother chided.

'I'm not hungry really,' Harry murmured after reluctantly forcing down a few tiny bites of his food.
'Alright leave it,' his mother sighed, 'there's no time for slow eating.'

Harry stood up, putting his plate in the dishwasher and made to leave the kitchen but glanced up again when his mom spoke.

'Oh Harry, I forgot to tell you, I went and visited the new neighbors yesterday,' she said. 'It's a family moved here from Doncaster with five kids. Their eldest daughter seemed sweet and I think she'll be going to your school, you should try make friends.'

Harry knew she meant more than just friends. She was always trying to get him to date girls. Usually he tried his best to humor her. She didn't know that he wasn't attracted to the female species in the slightest and he'd rather she didn't find out.

Harry nodded and forced a smile. 'I'll look out for a new face at school today'

A/N: I know there's a huge age gap between Lottie and Louis but for the purposes of this fic I'm making her a bit older (okay maybe more than a bit) so Louis is a senior, Harry a junior and Lottie a sophomore.

Later that day Harry found himself boredly chewing on the end of his pencil, staring at the questions his maths teacher had set his class for the lesson. He couldn't understand anything in front of him and soon his brain grew tired of trying to make sense of it.

He started doodling in the margin of his page and soon the bell for lunch rang and the edges of his page were covered with tiny characters and patterns. He always got carried away when he started doodling.

Harry quickly snaped his book shut, so his teacher wouldn't see the evidence of his procrastination, and stuffed it in his bag. He casually slung his bag over his shoulder and left the classroom, heading to his locker to get the books he needed for his lessons after lunch.

Once he had his books he shut his locker and turned around, walking straight into a girl who stumbled back, dropping a book. Harry, ever the gentleman, quickly bent down to pick it up, both of them apologizing profusely. He handed her the book and furrowed his eyebrows, not recognizing her.

'Are you new?' He asked.

'Yes,' she said. 'Just moved here from Doncaster.'

Oh, so you're the girl with four siblings Harry thought not realizing he was actually speaking aloud.

'Um... Yeah?' The girl looked a bit creeped out now. 'Why do you know that?'

Harry rushed to explain, realizing how weird he must have sounded. 'Um, you're my neighbor I think...? My mom said she went over yesterday and met your family...'

'Oh!' The girl laughed probably relieved that Harry wasn't some creepy stalker. 'Yeah, she said she had a son... Harry right?' He nodded. 'I'm Lottie,' she extended her hand and Harry shook it. 'Nice to meet you,' he said, showing his dimples.

'Likewise' Lottie grinned. 'Um, I don't really know my way around this place yet... Do you mind showing me to the cafeteria?'

'Of course not,' Harry said, remembering his first year at the school. It took him weeks of getting used to all the seemingly identical hallways before he stopped getting lost all the time.

A few minutes later they stood in the cafeteria line waiting to get their lunch. Finally they got to the front and Harry waited while Lottie got hers. Lottie then stood awkwardly to the side, while Harry got his food, glancing around the cafeteria as if looking for someone she knew.

'You can sit with me if you want,' Harry offered politely.
'Are you sure?' She asked uncertainly.
'Yeah, of course,' Harry linked his arm with hers and dragged her to the other side of the cafeteria where his blond haired, blue eyed best friend sat alone at a table. 'Niall, this is Lottie - she's new. Lottie, this is my best friend, Niall - he's... Irish and in love with Nando's .'

Lottie laughed and Niall elbowed Harry in the side as he sat down beside him. 'Harreh! Is that really the best description you can give me!?' Niall whined as Lottie sat down opposite the two boys, facing the wall behind them.

Harry was about to respond but, when he looked up, his green eyes locked gaze with an unfamiliar pair of eyes on the other side of the room. Suddenly he was lost in an endless blue ocean, his trivial conversation with Niall long forgotten.

A/N: Sorry about the cheesy ending, hopefully the next chapter will be a bit better. Also, sorry about the slow updates. I get writer's block a lot but I'll probably get better about updating as I get into the story. Thanks for reading and please vote and comment.
