Chapter 2: Confession

A/N: I guess I'm keeping Bill then? I asked for an opinion and the people who said something said keep Bill. So, okey dokie Loki!

Something filled your living room with a loud, ear piercing screech. You jumped a little, watching the TV with immense anticipation. Alex was beside you, watching closely as well.

Suddenly one of the Slitheens burst through a door to try and attack the Doctor and Rose. You and Alex both gasped. As the show went on, the day slowly began to disappear and turn into that inky blackness you knew so well. Alex looked out the window as one of the episodes ended.

He uttered a quiet, "Oh no..."

You looked at Alex. "Something up?" you asked.

Alex looked back toward you. He gave a forced smile. "N-nothing! I was wondering, since you gave me so much hospitality, wanna go out for dinner tonight? My treat!" Alex replied, still wearing that masking smile.

"Uh, sure!" you said, glad to get some free food. It had been a while since anyone treated you to anything.

"Great! Let's head out! We'll use my car! Come on! The night doesn't last long!" Alex exclaimed, grabbing your hand and rushing out the door.

"Woah woah woah!" you said. "Gimme a second to put on my shoes!"

Alex let go of your hand, turning a little pink. "S-sorry..." he muttered. You bent down to put on your shoes and stood back up, walking to Alex's car. Alex followed closely behind and opened the passenger side for you and bolted into his side. He turned on the car and started backing up before you even had a chance to buckle.

"Okay," you began as Alex pulled onto the highway. "What's gotten into you?"

"What do you mean?" Alex asked, keeping his eyes fixated on the road.

"You seem itching to leave your house. Is something wrong? Rats? I wouldn't be surprised, considering that thing's been up for sale for forever."

"Uh... Y-yeah. Rats. They're... Uh.. Weird rats."

"Well just a little ways down the street there's an exterminator. He's a pretty jolly old guy. Keep on his good side and he might give you a discount. Oh! And tell him you're a friend of mine. My house gets infested every summer so he knows me well," you said.

"Thanks," Alex replied. You looked at his face and saw "you have no idea what I'm involved in" scrawled across his expression. You wanted to say something, but you left it be. You didn't want to get Alex more nervous than he already was.

You looked on ahead and checked your phone. Your friend Cassidy had texted you. "Heeeey friend! So I got called to a TED talk. In LA! So I was wondering if I could mooch off of you for a couple days? So I don't have to pay for an overpriced hotel?" her text said, reflecting Cassidy's personality perfectly.

"Sure, no problem," you replied. "But don't expect me to be there."

Cassidy instantly texted back. "I wouldn't expect you to be, considering you've nearly punched me when I even muttered the word 'scientifically.' Or began with 'well based on statistics...' I don't get how history is interesting at all. The only interesting thing is the torture methods."

"Yeah. Just keep your muttering to a minimum, please. Last time you were over I could barely sleep because you were talking to your cat."

"Lol," Cassidy responded. "Anyway, I've gotta go and prepare to throw facts at people. Bye!"

"Bye," your text read and you looked up once again.

"We're almost there," Alex told you as you stared out of the window into the silhouette of a forest.

The moon shone, full and bright and lining the dark forest with silver. You imagined being able to pluck the silver thread right off the trees and roll it up into a ball. It was a pretty night and you thought it'd be a good idea to just sit in a clearing in the forest and watch the stars. Alex pulled up into a fancy-looking restaurant.

After Alex had payed for himself and you- much to your dismay- you drove back into the night toward your house. It was a long, silent drive and you felt a little uncomfortable. Alex continued to look straight ahead, his fog lights on the whole way. He definitely did not look up for conversation so you shied away from saying anything. Alex's flannel ruffled a little from the air blasting out of the AC and you shivered slightly.

"Cold?" Alex asked, quickly glancing over to you.

"Yeah... A little..." you replied, rubbing your freezing arms.

"You can adjust it if you want. We're almost there," Alex said with a robotic tone to his voice.

You nodded and turned the AC off, turning up the temperature.

Alex pulled into his driveway, but he didn't turn off the car or even unlock the doors. You looked at Alex, who was gripping the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles white. Alex looked terrified.

"I can't go in there..." Alex muttered. "I can't..."

"Why not?" you asked with your voice barely above a whisper.

"I-I can't tell you... You'd think I'm crazy..." Alex seemed extremely out of it, and you were half afraid he wasn't talking to you at all.

You put your hand on Alex's, whose grip loosened and relaxed a little at your touch. "Dude, you're making me think you're crazy right now. You've literally locked me in your car," you said with a slight chuckle.

Alex looked at you, the sweet expression the man usually wore in his pictures was gone completely. "You sure? Promise you won't call the authorities?" he asked, serious.

"I promise. How bad could it be?"

Alex let out a sigh. He relaxed a little more. "So... You know Bill... Right?" he began.

You nodded.

"Well... He's... Real... And he's been haunting me ever since I finished Gravity Falls. I'm constantly terrified he's going to try and get into my head and I haven't really slept much. And as for not wanting to be in my house... I'm afraid he's going to find where I live and wreak havoc."

You didn't know what to say. Until that dream you had popped into your head. "Uh... You don't think he'd get into other people's heads to try and find you... Do you?"

"What do you mean?" Alex asked with confusion. "Y-You've met him?"

"I-in a dream. You showed up and then I fell asleep and he was there."

Alex ran his hand through his hair. "Oh god... I've dragged you into this, haven't I?"

"Hey, don't worry. You can sleep at my place tonight. I've got some melatonin you can take that'll knock you out in twenty minutes dream-free. Sound like a deal?"

Alex shuddered at the mention of "deal." "U-uh... Sure. If you think that'll help."

"Yeah. It will. Paranoia plus little sleep equals disaster."

Alex suddenly began to laugh. "Man, if I knew it would have been this easy, I would have asked for your help ages ago! Thank you, (Y/N)!" Alex seemed relieved.

You smiled and laughed a little as well. "No problem. Can I get out now?" you asked.

"Oh! Yeah! Sorry!" Alex said, fumbling with the buttons on the car door and finally unlocking it. You walked inside your house with Alex following closely behind you.

A/N: Super sorry for how long it took to update this! I didn't have any internet for three months because my dad thinks I'll do God knows what if I have Internet. And I prefer to type on a keyboard and since my iPad doesn't connect to data... Yeah. So, sorry again. And I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
