Getting Settled In
Scar's Perspective-
June 24; 1 am:
"Scar, wake up."
Scar groaned as he was nudged awake.
"What?" He grumbled, blinking a couple of times.
"I know it's really late, but we're here!" His father said, smiling at his son.
Scar tried to look out the window but all he saw was his reflection since it was pitch black.
"Er- what time is it?"
"1 am."
"Yeesh." Scar yawned.
His father laughed, "I know, I know, we're all tired, but once we walk in, we can fall asleep on a nice bed."
Scar smiled as he unbuckled and grabbed his pillow, which he had propped against the window.
He then grabbed his backpack and a cat crate that had a sleeping cat in it.
His father and mother walked out, grabbing their stuff.
"When's the moving van getting here?" Scar asked his mother.
"Should be here tomorrow morning."
"You mean today?" Scar asked, smiling.
His mother smiled as she shook her head.
"Is Jellie asleep?" (RIP Jellie T-T you will be remembered)
"Yep." Scar said, smiling at his cat.
His father walked over to him and unlocked the door.
Scar walked in and looked around.
"This is gonna take some work." His father said, "But we'll get settled in later, right now let's find the bedrooms. Scar, I think your bedroom is upstairs."
Scar nodded and walked up the stairs.
He walked into the room and looked around.
It was pretty empty, but cozy.
There was a twin-sized bed in the corner, across from which sat the window.
There was one part that looked tucked in the corner, so Scar made plans to put a beanbag there along with his bookshelf.
But since the moving truck wasn't there yet, Scar just put down Jellie's cat carrier and opened it up.
He carefully brought her out.
She sprang awake and looked confused and shocked.
She meowed at her owner who chuckled.
"Yep! We're here Jellie!"
Scar kissed her fluffy head as he walked to his bed.
"We're here."
He petted her before they both fell asleep.
The Next Day-
Scar was unpacking his stuff from the boxes as the movers put everything in the living room.
They had already brought all of Scar's stuff in, so he got to work.
"Ready Jellie?" He asked his cat.
She pawed at the closed door.
"Aww, sorry girl, I can't let you out since the movers are working."
Jellie blinked and then hopped onto his bed.
She kneaded at the blanket before curling up into a ball and falling asleep.
Scar smiled at his cat before moving to the first box which was labeled books.
-
Scar stood up and stretched.
He looked out the window and saw the other houses.
He had been working for a couple of hours and he suddenly got curious at what the neighbors were like.
Scar ran downstairs to find his parents.
"Hey mom? Hey dad?"
His parents looked up from the mugs they were taking out of a box.
"Hey sweetie! Movers just left, how're you doing? How's the room coming along?" His mother asked.
"Good. Not done yet, but it's coming along. Er- could I go see the neighbors?"
"Sure! It might be great for us all to take a bit of a break." His father said.
They headed out together to the house across the street from them.
Scar knocked on the door.
A woman opened it up.
She had brown hair that was tied into a messy bun.
She also wore glasses and a blue denim jacket that was over a shirt that had a cat on it.
She wore stained shorts and tennis shoes.
"Hello! You must be the new neighbors!" She smiled, "Come in! Come in! Just made some tea."
She welcomed them into her home.
"I'm Catrina, what's your name?" She asked.
"I'm Keith, and this is my wife, Becca." Scar's father said, "And this is our son, Scar."
"Nice to meet all of you!" Catrina smiled, "My husband's at work right now but our son is here."
She sat them down in her living room before leaving to retrieve her son.
About a minute later, she returned.
A guy who looked to be around Scar's age (14) was behind her.
He had dirty blonde, messy hair and wore a white shirt along with black jeans. He and Scar made eye contact and he waved.
"This is my son, Grian."
"Hello!" Scar and his family said.
Grian smiled and waved.
"Grian, would you like to show Scar your room?" Catrina asked.
"Sure." Grian shrugged.
He led Scar to his room and Scar gasped when they entered.
"What?" Grian asked.
"You have a cat!"
Scar walked up to the gray cat and pet it.
It sniffed Scar before rubbing its head against his hand.
"Aww!"
Grian laughed, "Yeah, that's Maui. Much more social than Pearl."
"You have two?!" Scar gasped, holding Maui.
Grian laughed again.
"I only have Jellie. But she's great.
Grian pet his cat and they started to talk.
-
"So what school are you going to?"
"Er- I think it's called Wisteria High...?"
"Oh! That's the school I go to!" Grian smiled.
Scar smiled as well, "That's great! Then I'll have a friend!"
"Er- that is if I can call you a friend."
"Yeah." Grian nodded, smiling, "You can call me a friend."
