Detention

Okay before we begin I wanna say that I really did try and change this chapter to make it better or have less curse words because I like my books to be more PG, but I just couldn't write it in a way that will have the story progress the way I want it to. I genuinely tried to, and I couldn't. So...sorry about that. But I don't think anyone will care except for me

Uhh- anyway enjoy?
Warning: The f-slur is in this a couple times. Stay safe everyone.

Grian's Perspective-

Over the next couple of months, Grian had met some new people.

They were all very nice and helped him out whenever he was questioning his sexuality.

There were four people.

Tinsley was a girl who always stood up for their friends. They were lesbian and had a pan girlfriend named Amabella.

Amabella was very shy and quiet, but very kind. She was always there for her friends and cared about them a lot. She had blonde hair that was normally in braids or ponytails, and she normally wore skirts and oversized hoodies. She also sometimes wore pink heart shaped glasses.

There was Mercury (her real name Carter), a trans female who's very talkative. Despite her being so loud and her normally being the one to fuel Tinsley's chaos, she was very good when it came to academics, and she got along with Grian well. She stood tall at around six feet and she normally wore jeans and neutral colored shirts and hoodies.

Finally, there was Teagan. She was nice, but sometimes she was a bit much and didn't always have a chill switch. Generally, she was kind, but she would often have her moments. She wore shorts and crop tops a lot and she normally curled her dirty blonde hair.

They were all super nice and kind, always helping each other out.

They were always helping Grian whenever he was questioning himself.

"I just think I look too feminine." Grian told Tinsley as they were walking to their ELA class.

"I think you look fine. You just need to stop worrying about what people think of you."

Just then, Nicole, a popular girl, accidentally bumped into Grian.

"Ew, get away you boy-girl!"

"See?" Grian mumbled, "It's hard to ignore them when they- "

Tinsley walked up to Nicole.

"What do you want?" Nicole snarled.

Tinsley smacked her, "Don't you ever call Grian, or anyone for that matter, a boy-girl!"

"Girls! No fighting! Juliet, detention!" A teacher called.

"Yeah! Get away you fag!" Nicole shouted.

"Nicole! You never call someone that! Detention!"

Two teachers split up the fight and sent Tinsley and Nicole to the Principal of Discipline's office.

Grian's ELA teacher sighed.

"I'm sorry, Grian." She said, "Are you alright?"

Grian nodded.

She didn't look convinced, "You might wanna hang out with different people. Juliet's bad news."

"But they just stood up for me." Grian mumbled, clutching tightly onto his books.

"What was that dear?"

"Nothing." Grian put on a smile.

"Okay, then get to class."

As Grian took out his books, he saw Mercury walk in.

"Where's Tinsley?"

"Principal of Discipline's office."

"What'd they do this time?"

"Got in a fight when standing up for me."

Mercury sighed and shook her head as she sat down, "Of course they did."

"What do you mean?"

"Well...Tinsley would always stick up for their friends. Doesn't matter how much trouble they may get in."

"Don't their parents get mad?"

Mercury shook her head, "They know they're standing up for their friends."

"Carter! Grian! Stop talking!"

Mercury rolled her eyes but said, "Yep, sorry."

-

The final bell rang and Grian got up.

He walked in the halls, feeling quite alone as he had no one to talk to.

Just then, someone shouted,

"Hey bitch!"

Grian turned around.

Frick. I can't believe I automatically think they mean me.

But the girl did, in fact, mean Grian.

She ran up to him, looking furious.

"You're the bitch who got my bestie in detention!"

Grian blinked and didn't say anything.

I mean, what do you even say to that?

"What did she even do to you?!" The girl demanded.

"Well, er..."

"Well?!"

"Hey G!"

Grian jumped as Scar ran up to him and rustled his hair.

"I thought you were just a boy-girl, but you're gay too?!" The girl gagged.

The smile on Scar's face faded.

"Sorry, but who are you?"

"Ooh. You're the bitch's boyfriend, aren't you? Well I don't know if he's told you, but he got my bestie in detention when she did nothing!"

"Well, you don't need to bully Grian." Scar said, putting his hands on Grian's shoulders.

"Besides, what Tinsley told me is that you called Grian the f-slur."

"Why would I do that?!" The girl demanded.

"Look," Scar said calmly, "I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just asking you to stop picking on Grian. He did nothing."

"He got my bestie in detention."

"How?"

"I- he- "

"Exactly."

Scar turned Grian around and they walked away.

When they got off the bus, Scar went over to Grian's house to help him calm down.

"What'd she do?" Scar asked as they entered Grian's room.

Grian started to mess with his sweater.

"G?"

Grian took a deep breath, "She called me a ---"

"Did you fight back?"

"I...no." Grian looked away.

"Grian! You need to fight back!"

"I know!" Grian shouted, gripping onto his hair and folding into a tight ball.

"I know I need to fight back, but I can't! I just freeze and stutter and- and..."

Grian sighed shakily.

"And I'm sorry. I just can't fight back. I'm...weak."

Grian looked to the ground, refusing to look at his friend's concerned expression.

"Gri...I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you."

"It's fine." Grian said, taking a deep breath.

"But it's not- "

Scar got cut off as a Beatles song started playing.

Grian yelped and jumped.

He took out his phone and sighed.

"Who's calling you?" Scar asked.

"Mumbo."

"Here, I'll answer, you go calm down."

Grian tossed Scar his phone and got up to use the restroom.

Grian heard Scar talking as he closed the door behind him.

Grian rolled up his sleeves and splashed some water in his face.

He looked at himself in the mirror and then heard Scar say,

"Yeah...someone called him the f-slur and has been bullying him. He... I guess he just needs us to stand up and fight back for him."

Grian felt a wave of guilt crash into him like a tsunami.

He dried his hands and walked back to his room.

"I just wanna help him and- oop, he's here now." Scar said, seeing Grian standing in the doorframe.

Scar got up to hand Grian his phone.

"You don't need to stand up for me." Grian said, looking away.

Scar blinked.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I'm sorry for being such a nuisance."

"What? No, you're fine."

"No, I just cause trouble."

"G...when have you ever caused trouble."

"Just today!" Grian snapped, "I got Tinsley into detention!"

"No, you didn't. Tinsley stood up for you- "

"My point exactly! If I was just better, if I just stopped hanging out with you, everything would be fine."

A light then glowed in Grian's eyes, highlighting his tears.

"That's it." He whispered.

"What is?"

"I just need to stop hanging out with you and everything will be fine!"

"What? G, I'm not gonna- "

"I don't care." Grian said, "I'm doing this to help you and my friends." He then pointed to the door.

"Please." He said shakily, "Let me do something right today."

"But this isn't- "

"Please." Grian said, a tear rolling down his face.

Scar looked hurt and concerned, but then said,

"Alright."

He gave Grian his phone and grabbed his stuff.

He then gave Grian one last, concerned look, and left.

Grian shut the door behind him.
