A Day at the Playground
Love, let's go to the playground
I've got itchy fingers for that monkey bar
Yellow seesaw you're looking picturesque
Up and down I go for another break down
here's my collection of fluorspar
kiss these thighs I dressed
we're both black fabric beating
screaming, crying, pushing, don't pull my hair
not in public where the children see us
it's like I'm in teacups spinning
tongue-tastes like cotton candy at the fair
where it's you and me plus
that alter ego buried beneath cedar
what a pleasant smell in your cotton
let's bury our sorrows at the playground
it hurts, I'm the bleeder
in the woodchips I've gotten
stung by your niceties so just knock me down
i'd rather take your saw-edged knuckles
so uneven, leaving blue and green
tender in the mirror watering
another hollow girl masking her struggles
can i put this foundation between
us when we're at the playground fighting
I'll wash it away in the shower
