Arc 2, Chapter 27

The Mother
Victor was suddenly flung into existence, his knees clumsily hitting the stone floor with a crack.
Seraph, however, landed with much more ease, only slightly bowing his legs upon impact. Stella and Luna simply walked out of the portal, showing no discomfort from teleportation.
Victor blinked, lifting his head up and trying to regain his bearings. He had been brought into what seemed to be massive throne room, with even larger ceilings than the hallways he had been walking through previously.
Resembling an ancient Grecian temple, the throne room was supported by grand marble pillars and the floor was made of the same reflective material as the other room's. Large, shiny steps led up to throne, and there sat whom Victor assumed was Celeste.
The spirit sitting before him was incredibly tall, towering over him by at least a foot and a half. She wore a long, trailing white gown that hung over the throne she rested upon, covering her feet and piling onto the floor beneath her. Her skin was a deep, dark brown, making her stark white hair stick out and enhancing her otherworldly beauty. Celeste's eyes had no pupils or anything of the sort, they were instead orbs of glowing pink light.
Victor felt himself start to tremor, the sheer energy and power the mother spirit radiated overwhelming him. He had never even been in the vicinity a creature this powerful, nonetheless stood in front of one. He recognized that she could smite him with a simple flick of her nimble wrist, and that terrified him. Victor longed to run, run away and cry into Umbra or Matthew's chest. But he knew that wasn't an option. If he was going to ever return home, he was going to have to play along with Seraph.
"Hello, Mother!" Seraph exclaimed, running to the throne and throwing himself in Celeste's lap.
Celeste kept her stoic, serene face as she patted Seraph gently on the head. "Ah, Seraph Harmony. I am glad I to see your return." She lifted her chin, waving her hand at the two guards stationed at the door. "Luna, Stella, you are dismissed." The armored spirits nodded and went through the door behind them.
"Was your mission a success, child?" Celeste murmured. Her voice was deep, but still noticeably feminine and elegant.
Seraph shrugged. "Well, I healed a stray dog, cheered up some humans at the hospital for a couple hours, and saved someone from being blood-mugged, but that is about it. I ran into some trouble..."
"Please explain." Celeste's calm gaze was no longer locked on Seraph. She was staring at Victor.
Seraph's pink eyes shimmered with emotion, and the spirit tugged at Celeste's dress. "I was captured by some mercenaries! I was trying to heal a child, but then some fae came down and used trap magic on me. He knocked me out, and before I knew it, I was in this dungeon, locked in a cage. My new friend Victor, that human over there, was being escorted down there too, by some different mercenaries. Luckily, they left him alone without putting him in an enclosure. We managed to escape that place without being found by the guards, however."
Wait, Victor thought, his heart starting to beat faster. He thinks my dads, Esper, and Aunora are related to his kidnapping! That's not right!
Celeste grabbed Seraph around his waist, setting him gently onto the ground. "Thank you for informing me of this, my child. I will gather some guards and attend to this issue immediately." She stood up, the sound of her bare feet hitting the marble floor making Victor flinch. Her hair and dress trailed along the floor behind her as she walked, like some kind of wedding dress.
She stopped in front of Victor, holding out her hand. "Hello, human male," she said quietly, smiling at him. Victor could have swore he sensed a condenscening tone in her voice. "I am glad to see that my child has made a friend. Feel free to stay here as long as you need while I...take care of these pesky mercenaries." She turned her head, gazing at Seraph. "Seraph Harmony, is there anything else I should know?"
Seraph frowned. "It was not just me, they had many, many other creatures locked up in the cages. It was sickening."
"Allow me to find your location." Celeste murmured, and Seraph seemed to understand the meaning of her statement. He dipped his head, allowing her to kiss the top of it. "Ah, Alcorith, Michigan. I see. I will have Erethe cut the portal while I assemble Stella and Luna."
She hastily left the room, the only sound being the clink of the throne room's door being closed.
Seraph wrapped an arm around him. "Do not be concerned, friend. My mom is very strong; she will easily eradicate those mercenaries that left you down there, along with both of those bounty hunters. You will get justice."
