Alana stood infront of the fire in their bedchambers, it was almost evening. It had been hours since Aegon had left, Alicent had told her of The King's passing, and how the coronation would take place the next day, Alicent had also told her that Aemond, and Ser Criston went out to the city to look for Aegon.
Her children, had spent all day asking for their father, Alana didn't have an answer for them.
So there Alana stood infront of the fireplace, figeting with her rings on her fingers, which she hadn't done in some time.
She was worried for her husband, during the years she had been married to him, he barely spoke to his brother, and yet during these few days since Rhaenyra's name had been brought up, he had talked to Aemond more times than in the seven years Alana and him had been together. He also hadn't picked up a glass of wine in ages, and yet he could barely stop last night during dinner.
It also didn't help that he was to be King, by King Viserys' words according to Alicent. Of course Alana still loved Aegon, and with her whole heart, but he acted like a different person when Aemond is near or Rhaenyra or her family's name is brought up.
Alana's thoughts were pushed aside when the the doors to the bedchambers were, she looked behind her and lo and behold, Aegon being carried by two guards, and two handmaidens behind. Aegon's eyes were looking at the floor, but Alana couldn't help but notice a scratch on his face, that wasn't there when he left.
"My lady, the Queen commanded Prince Aegon to be washed, and shaved for the morrow." A handmaiden spoke up.
Alana turned her body towards them, rubbing her swollen stomach, before walking to them. "Leave, I shall deal with him, but bring hot water for his bath and tell the Queen, Aegon and I will be having dinner in here tonight."
The two guards and handmaidens both nodded, leaving, shutting the door behind them.
"My darl-" Alana words were cut off by a huff, as soon as the guards and handmaidens left, Aegon's body came crashing into hers, silent sobs racking his body.
"I-I tried to get t-the boat.." Aegon put his head into her neck, "B-but A-Aemond and Ser Criston came..."
"Shh..." Alana rubbed his back, kissing his head. It was hard to hold up upright, especially due to her stomach. "You'll be alright.."
After a while of Aegon's sobbing and Alana's whispering into his messy hair. Aegon took a shaky deep breath, trying to calm himself, when a knock was heard on the doors, and handmaiden's walked in, carrying warm water for the bath.
The handmaidens poured the water into the bath, alongwith other things, they had also brought the shaving materials off to the side."Thank you, you may go." Alana nodded to them, as the shut the door behind them.
"Let me help you into the bath." Alana pulled away a bit, cupping his cheeks into her hands. His silver hair was messy, his violet eyes were glossy from crying, and the scratch on his cheek.
Aegon said nothing, but he nodded standing up on his own, a hand on Alana's shoulder. She quietly removed his clothes, and helped him into the bath.
Alana grabbed a cloth that the handmaidens put to the side, and grabbed a stool and sat herself next to the bath.
Alana began to clean Aegon with the cloth, before speaking up as she gently scrubbed his body, "I am worried for you, my darling." Alana spoke her worries, her voice quiet.
Aegon didn't say anything, which made Alana pause. "My darling, please speak to me."
"..Why are you worried.." Aegon muttered, still not looking up at her.
"You're not acting like yourself, ever since Rhaenyra had been here." Alana furrowed her eyebrows, finishing cleaning his body and hair. "You haven't picked up a glass of wine in a while but at dinner last night you could barely put down your cup."
Aegon sighed, looking down at the bath water. "I want you and our children to be safe. If I become King...war will surely start."
"I don't want you nor our children harmed, but once you become King, our children will be safe." Alana put down the cloth, bringing her hand to his cheek. Repeating the words Alicent had once spoke to her.
"I will protect you.." Aegon shook his head, bringing his wet hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "and our children." He turned his head, kissing the palm of her hand.
"I know." Alana smiled, "you should get out of your bath, the water has grown rather cold." Alana stood up slowly, grabbing a towel nearby.
Aegon let out another sigh, getting up and wrapping the towel around himself, and sitting on the edge of the bed, Alana sat next to him, rubbing his back.
The room was silent, only the sound of Aegon and Alana's breathing filled the room. "Have I been a good husband to you?" Aegon suddenly spoke.
"Of course you have." Alana sat closer to him, running her fingers in his silver hair. "And a good father as well."
Aegon nodded, looking at Alana. "I will protect you, and the children when I am King. I swear to all the Gods."
Alana smiled, gently putting her hand behind his neck, bringing him into a kiss.
