Heels
It was Mahina's last Snapping performance on a music show and stylists were buzzing around her trying to get her ready for the stage.
Light dust from make-up was floating around, articles of clothing being shoved everywhere as Mahina was rushed to get ready. "Take these and put them on." A stylist said, shoving a pair of black heels in Mahina's face.
"Uhm, I've never walked in heels." She said staring at the torture devices. "I don't think I can dance in these." Mahina continued glancing at the stylist who just stared at her.
The woman waved a hand carelessly in the air. "You'll figure it out, it's not my problem." With that, she walked away back into the fray of people.
Mahina blankly stared after the women before glancing back down at the heels. Her face twisted into a frown as she reluctantly slipped the shoes on.
"Mahina, 5 minutes until stage time." One of the stage managers called urgently.
She nodded lightly before attempting to stand up. Immediately she started stumbling all over the place. Mahina eventually just had to hold onto the wall in order not to topple over. One of the dancers walked over to her, seeing the struggling idol.
"Oh, hi Sunhee." Mahina said with a small smile gracing her lips. "What's up?"
"Walk on your toes." She said.
"Eh-h?"
Sunhee's brown eyes slid to Mahina's contact covered eyes. "You have to walk on your toes, then you just have to worry about balancing. It's pretty clear you've never worn heels." A wry smile crossed Sunhee's face. "You look like a koala clutching that wall."
A frown formed on Mahina's lips. "How am I supposed to do the whole dance like this then perform Go after this?" She asked concerned. "I've never walked in heels and then I have to go straight to a different performance."
"Just be careful and minimize your movements." Sunhee suggested, putting a hand on her shoulder. "We've gotta go onstage now. Will you be fine?"
A determined expression crossed Mahina's face. "I don't have a choice."
"Just don't get hurt." Sunhee murmured as Mahina stumbled to the stairs leading to the stairs.
The fans started letting out screams as everyone appeared on the stage. As they settled into their places, Mahina could tell that all the female dancers were a bit closer to her than normal. They were probably ready in case she fell.
Letting out a breath the music started, and the stage lit up. For a while everything was going great, then Mahina stumbled a bit. As she quickly tried to regain her footing all of the pressure went to her ankle and she could feel pain shoot up it.
Mahina gritted her teeth so she wouldn't hiss. Something was off. However, she just forced a smile and continued on. After what felt like hours she finally hit her ending pose. Her chest heaved and she slow limped off stage.
Mahina finally looked down at her ankle to see that it got majorly swollen. Crouching down, Mahina prodded it before hissing. "Ouch."
She quickly took the shoes off and changed into her sneakers. Mahina stood up to go change for Go, but as soon as she took a step her ankle buckled causing her to fall to the ground. "Damn it." She quickly moved her ankle in different directions trying to loosen it up, but it only caused her more pain.
"Hey Mahina what are you doing on the ground?" Asked a voice. Tilting her head up she saw it was Mark.
"Oh-h. Hey Mark. Just tying my sneakers." Mahina chuckled a bit nervously.
Mark stared at her for a solid second as she scratched the back of her neck. "They don't have laces." He deadpanned.
Mahina blinked in surprise glancing down to discover he was right. "Well we have to perform Go don't we." She reached up her hand and Mark pulled her up.
Mahina quickly hid behind a clothing rack and changed into her Go outfit. She got on stage, and by that time she had little crescents on her hands formed her clutching her hands so tightly with her nails.
The pain was unbearable by the time they finished the stage and as soon as they got off the stage, Mahina collapsed into a heap. She let out a low hiss of pain as little tears pricked the edges of her eyes.
"Mahina!" Mark yelped in concern rushing over to her. Wincing, Mahina quickly took off her sneaker exposes the swollen ankle. In hindsight she probably shouldn't have danced on it, and probably made it worse.
She heard the rest of the dreamies quickly following Mark. "What the- what happened?!" Jaemin exclaimed crouching down to her level.
It was Jisung who answered for her. "It was the heels in Snapping." Mahina's eyes widened a fraction. "She's never danced in those and I think I remember her stumbling a little bit." Jisung pursed his lips. "I probably should've said something earlier." He said guiltily.
"Not your fault." Mahina said gritting her teeth as staff members came over.
A medical personal quickly examined her foot before saying, "You definitely sprained it. Dancing longer made it worse. You are most certainly going to have to sit out for a couple weeks. I'd check in with a doctor though." He quickly stood up and walked away from the group of idols.
Renjun and Mark hoisted her up and put her arms around their shoulders. "Taeyong is going to kill you. You should've stopped dancing or at least told us." Renjun said, his eyes full of concern for the younger.
"Didn't want to bother you."
