Survival of the fittest phrase

Has been a quote we often raise

New studies talk of other things

Teamwork and love that families bring

Our lives reflect what critters do

Who love and grieve; fight over view

Fight over rights to claim their lands

Cooperate without demands

Deer use their nose; vote where to go

Point and choose a water hole

Decision made does leave behind

Buck not in charge researchers find

What we humans can feel inside

Came from critter's genetic slide

Humans are not at top of tree

But at the end of history

For within us we can find

The end result; how nature twined

We're not the first; we are the last

Of what happened in Nature's past

And if we want to stay alive

We must walk with Nature's test drive

For Nature has the final say

Whether we die; whether we stay
