Chapter 14: Sanctuary

Song: Oh Wonder - Lose it (Jerry Folk Remix)

I heard a soft mumbling tone and I slowly opened my eyes to see Ethan in the distance. He was talking to Kai who was standing in front of him. Looking down at the cover of the sheets, I saw it was a white sheets and not to mention a king size bed. A confused look took over me then I remembered what had happened yesterday.

Raising up the sheets and looking under, I saw I was in a pair of men's sweatpants and a white large shirt. What the hell happened to my clothes?

I quickly sat up and looked towards Ethan and Kai who were now staring at me. Ethan opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. I felt angry. Angry at what had happened yesterday and angry Ethan was here...Where is here?

"Where am I?" my voice came out rough considering I just woke up.

Ethan looked a bit nervous and started to fidget around with his thumbs. "Victor's mansion," he mumbled. My eyes widened. The nerve this asshole has.

Angrily hopping off the bed and walking out the room, I heard my name being called behind me but I ignored it. Marching down the hall and down the stairs, I could heard some guys laughter echoing through the house. It seemed to be coming from the kitchen. I turned on my heels and saw Kai and Ethan were both looking at me worried.

"Please take him home. I'll be home in a few," I spoke to Kai.

"No! I'm not leaving you -"

I glared at Ethan causing him to stop talking. "I need you to get out of here. It's not safe for you two. Do not argue with me," I spoke in a stern tone. Ethan slowly nodded with a frown. I let out a sigh, "Look, I'll see you when I get home and you could ask me whatever you want, okay?" I spoke in a soft tone.

He nodded his head and gave me a small smile. Him and Kai then turned around and headed out the front door and I watched as the door closed behind them. Another trail of laughter came from the kitchen and I angrily turned on my heels before heading into the kitchen.

As I walked in, I saw 5 guys standing around the counter with drinks in their hands. They all noticed me and the room fell in silence.

"Morning," a familiar voice chirped. I turned to the voice to see Victor with a smirk on his face and a drink in his hand. He then walked up to me and offered me some of his drink. I angrily slapped the glass out his hand causing the drink to spill on the floor and the glass cup to shatter.

"What the hell was that for?" he shouted in anger. I let out an annoyed groan, "Fuck you! That's why!" I shouted back. He glared at me, "Don't talk to me like that. What's your problem?" he growled.

I stared at him in disbelief, "Are you serious? How could you bring my brother here after what happened yesterday? Matter of fact, why would you even bring him here?" I screamed at Victor.

"Maybe to see his sister?" he spoke in a 'duh' tone.

My hand lifted up and slapped him across the face. I went to say sorry but realized I wasn't. I watched as he was now shock and angry all at once. I turned on my heels and went to walk away but he grabbed my hand and spun me around. I was now staring into his merciless eyes but for some reason, he didn't hit me back or anything. I mean I didn't want him to but it was weird that he didn't respond back to it with violence.

"Why did you slap me?" he hissed.

I shook my head and snatched my hand out of his holding. "Because you bought my brother here. Do you realized how dangerous that is? I know you probably don't care about family and all but Ethan is all I got and I'm not planning to lose him like this!" I scoffed.

A hysterical laugh came from him, "Are you serious? This is the most safest place on this Earth right now," he spoke as he pulled out the pistol from the back of his sweats and showed me.

I snatched it from his hand and threw it across the room, "Just because you have a gun doesn't mean it could save you. Sometimes I think your ego just picks up all of your brain cells. I actually had hope you were someone who could be good."

"Good? You honestly think I'm good or I could be?" he laughed. I nodded my head, "Yes."

He shook his head, "Impossible," he laughed.

"Really?" I asked. He nodded his head with that stupid smirk. With anger, I turned on my heels and started to march out the kitchen. As I walked into the living room, I was then yanked back and spun around so I was now staring at Victor again.

His eyes were now leveled to mine and his face was now a bit concerned. "Why are you like this? I thought you would be more happy that I saved you," he mumbled.

My mouth dropped baffled by his question. It was like he heard nothing I had said. I raised my hand to slap him again but he quickly stopped my hand midway in the air.

His eyes were now glaring at me, "Don't even try," he warned me. I yanked my hand away from his and turned on my heel before walking to the door.

I then opened the entrance door only for it to be slammed shut. I turned around only to suck in a sharp breath since Victor had me now leaned up against the door trapped between his arms.

How cliché, right?

"Where are you going?" he asked in a stern tone as he looked down at me. "Home," I plainly replied. He then lowered himself so we were now eye to eye. "Stay with me," he whispered.

His cold breath hit the side of my cheek while his words had me frozen. "W-what?" I questioned trying to find my words.

"Stay with me for a few more minute then I'll take you home," he spoke softly. I stared into his eyes to see he was serious. "Victor, I really want to go home. I just-"

"Please? I want to show you something," he spoke as he gently held my right hand.

Say no. Freya say no!

"Fine," I mumbled causing him to smile as he stood up straight.

What the hell did you do? You could say a 3 letter word but not a 2 letter word? No wonder Ethan is smarter than you.

Victor kept holding my hand and turned before gently pulling me besides him. We walked back into the kitchen and towards a back door. The back door then lead to some huge backyard which had an enormous pool indoor and outdoor, a hot tub that was also indoor and outdoor, two bars, grills and some any other thing. We walked pass it all and after a few minutes, we were no longer in the backyard. We were now walking down some grassy hill. In the distance, I could see a huge stone building.

How big is this place?

As we got closer, he opened the door and walked in with me behind him. As I walked in, I looked around to see we were in a small room. Victor closed the door behind us then walked up to another door before holding it open for me. I walked in and I felt my hair raised on my arm from the coldness. Looking around, I saw some gates that was built up about 20 feet along with trees and rocks. In the distance, I could see that there was some huge animal in the distance. As it got closer, it felt like my heart had dropped. It was a lion.

The lion purred as he came out from behind the trees and walked up to the gate. As it got closer, it kept it's eyes on me. "This is Loki," Victor stated. I looked towards him to see he was unlocking the gate.

"What are you doing?" I asked a bit concerned. Hey, just because I cant control nature and talk to animals doesn't mean they will not attack me. "In order to get to the snake house, we have to walk through the lion sanctuary," he informed me as he opened the gated.

I stated at the lion who had his eyes glued to me. I turned back to Victor and let out a nervous laugh, "I'm good here," I spoke a bit nervous. Victor rolled his eyes, "He wouldn't harm you," he reassured me.

I let out a hysterical laugh, "Yeah, like you could see the future," I scoffed. He rolled his eyes again and walked over to me before picking me up and throwing me over his shoulders. I let out a squeal as I was now looking down his back. "Put me down Victor," I demanded but he just ignored me.

He then walked into the lion's area and closed the gate. Victor started walking through the grass and I looked up to see the lion was sitting by the gate staring at me. I found it frightening but a bit weird that he didn't talk like the other animals. As Victor continued to walk, the lion just laid down in the grass.

My eyebrow rose in curiosity, "How come he's so calm?" I asked. "Training," Victor replied. "How does one train a wild animal?" I asked a bit baffled by his reply.

Victor shrugged with me on his shoulders, "Professionals," he gave another one word response.

I looked up again to see the lion was no longer in view and we were now in a different room with a bunch of hissing sounds. As Victor placed me down, I looked around to see there were so many snakes in who had their own sanctuary. Some I recognized as King Cobra's, Vipers and other I just knew they were venomous by the bright colors of their skin.

"This," Victor paused with a smile on his face as he looked around, "This is where the fun lies," he exclaimed. His words ran shivers down my spine more than the coldness in the air did. "Fun?" I asked a bit amused by his remark.

He gave me a slight wink before pulling me towards one of the glass sanctuaries. As we walked pass the other snakes, I could feel their hissing which was a bunch of hatred. These snakes that were kept in captivity were not a toy. The more I looked around, the more I realized that Victor probably use these creatures for his own sick enjoyment.

"This is the King of it all," Victor spoke with power as if he had the ultimate weapon. I looked in front us to see a brown snake staring back at me hissing as if it were to attack any moment. Thank the Lord there's a glass dividing it from me. I looked over to Victor who was where a smirk as he looked at the snake.

"So," I trailed off, "What do you us them for?" I asked bluntly causing him to look back at him. He then leaned up against the glass as if it were a wall. "Well, when someone doesn't do what I say or pay me back like they were suppose to," he spoke as if he was remembering a certain someone, "then I feed them to my wonderful snakes," he exclaimed with an enthusiastic tone.

I felt my stomach turning upset down as if it was getting ready to empty last night's pizza. "Is that what happened to Ray?" I asked remembering the guy Victor said he had cut up into pieces.

Victor shook his head with the same psychotic smirk. "I fed him to another animal which we will be seeing next," he chirped before walking down the room to another door.

Fear started to run through my body and I officially wanted to go home but then that means walking through the lion sanctuary and I don't think he likes me.

"Freya, come on," Victor shouted impatiently.

I slowly walked down the room with all the hissing snakes and made my way to Victor. He opened the door which led to another room that was empty with a door across it. As we walked into the room towards the other door. I couldn't help but felt a bit confused as I thought about the snakes. They were all hissing but they didn't say anything.

Can I also not understand snakes?

A door then slammed shut behind me causing me to snap out of my thoughts. I looked in front us to see another door but this one had a lock on it with a pin security. Victor pushed some number buttons and the door unlocked itself. He pushed it open and walked in. I followed behind and looked around to see the room was brightly lite.

I looked to my left and saw there were some stairs leading downstairs to some door that looked to be looked. "Coming?" Victor's voice echoed throughout the room.

Looking toward him, I saw he was at the top of the stairs looking down at me. I slowly made my way up to him still scared and annoyed I wasn't home yet. As we walked up, he unlocked a gate and held it open for me. I walked inside and he closed the gate behind me causing me to swiftly turn around to see he was on the other side of the gate.

"What are you doing?" I started to panic. He gave me a grin before pulling out his phone and typing something in. "Just a bit pay back for slapping me," he stated before looking back at me.

I then heard something beeping coming from the room. I turned around to see the ground under me was slowly moving. I quickly looked around and saw a metal plank that ran from one side of the room to the other. Looking up at the gate, I saw that the bars connected to the ceiling so there was no climbing over. There was not much of a choice now. I quickly ran over to it and stood on it. As the floor slide open in the distance, I could see it was revealing water.

My eyes then widened as I figured out where I was stand. I was standing above the aquarium. I looked over to Victor who was still standing by the gate with a playful look on his face. My eyes then trailed along the gate hoping that there was another exit was there wasn't.

As the floor was fully pulled back, in the distance, I could see there was something swimming towards me. It was sharks. Not two but 3 of them. I felt fear running through me as they were swimming faster towards me. Even though I was standing on the plank, they could easily just grab my leg and drag me in the water. The plank was literally one foot over the water.

"Victor," my voice came out more like a whisper. "Victor, please get me out," I begging in a higher voice as I looked up at him. He shook his head, "I need to make a call. Try and not to mistakenly fall in," he shouted over his shoulders and he held the phone up to his ear and disappeared walking down the stairs.

I looked down to the water and let out a startling scream as the 3 sharks were now circling around me.

"Well if it isn't Mother Nature herself," one of them spoke as if he was actually getting ready to eat me. "Neil, you're scaring her," the other shark spoke with a feminine voice which honestly freaked me out a little. Most of the times, when animals talk to me like Rio and Hazel, I can translate what they are saying just by their signals or chattering. These sharks were speaking like humans.

"Right sorry about that," Neil had apologized as he stopped circling around me. "It's okay," I mumbled a bit scared still. "Hi, I'm Mik and that's Sharp," the other shark spoke referring to the girl shark as Sharp.

"Hi, I'm Freya," I softly replied as I calmed down. "Sorry about scaring you...and no. We're no going to eat you," Neil stated. "Well thanks," I chirped feeling a bit better. "Yes, so why are you here?" Neil asked. I let out a sigh, "I slapped Victor so he's trying to make me learn my lesson," I mumbled.

"Sweetheart, you're the most powerful one on this early. Just by talking to you, I can tell you let everyone run over you and your brother. You need to realize who you are and how powerful you are," Sharp spoke in a comforting tone.

She was right. My eyebrow then rose, "You know about my brother?" I asked. They all replied with a yes. "The whole of Earth knows," Mik replied.

I heard Victor's voice in the distance causing me to look towards the stairs. His head came into viewing as he walked up the stairs. "I have to go do something so hurry up, I'm going to drop you home," he shouted from behind the gate before typing something into his phone. A beep echoed through the room and in the distance, I saw the floor was now covering back the aquarium.

"Freya, you need to stay away from Victor. He more evil than you think," Neil warned before swimming away to the bottom of the tank disappearing into the darkness. "He's right. Do no trust him," Sharp warned before her and Mik followed Neil down to the bottom of the tank.

After a few seconds, the floor was not accessible. I walked across the aquarium and headed back to the gate where Victor had opened it. I walked pass him not saying a work obviously angry by his actions. A hand grabbed me a yanked be back before turning me around.

I looked up to see Victor with a smirk look on his face. His hand then grabbed my chin a bit roughly causing me to suck in a sharp breath. "Have you learned your lesson?" he asked but it was more of a rhetorical question.

I swatted his hand away causing him to groan in annoyance. "Don't ever do that to me again," I warned glaring at him. His eyebrow rose, "Or what?" he challenged.

"Or I push you in there myself," I bluntly replied.

He stared at me for a few seconds before bursting out into laughter. "Good luck with that Sweetheart," he wrapped his arm over my shoulder. I quickly pushed him away, "No, we are not a couple so do that couple crap with me," I hissed.

"A guy wrapping his arm around your shoulders is not a 'couple crap'," he mocked my phrasing.

My eyebrow rose, "What would you know about couple things? You practically bang ever woman that crosses your sight," I scoffed.

"At least I know what it's like to be with someone. I've never seen you with anyone," he fired back.

I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out. He was right. I have never really been with anyone. I stared at Victor with no words to express how I felt. He just stared back at me with some type of look on his face.

Letting out a sigh, I closed by eyes and was now a bit hurt by his words which was stupid because I didn't care what he said and I shouldn't. I opened my eyes, "Can you take me home now?" I asked in a soft tone.

He stared at me a few more seconds before slowly nodding and his expression dropped as he walked past me. I silent trailed behind him lost in my own feelings.
