2D-🍀 Earth Repays Care🍀
All the chits except the green one were read. None of them made sense to the Reyansh yet he kept on looking for more, hoping that something logical would come out.
He was just about to read the translated version, when the building shook, making his chair roll off and collide with the wall.
"Ow." He rubbed the back of head, as it hurt.
The earthquake had hit again. It only lasted for two seconds but the team leader knew what all disasters it may have brought.
He called the other team leaders to see if all was okay in their respective floors, forgetting all about the last chit. The screen was still on showing the translated version of the green chit:
Earth Repays the care it receives.
Fortunately the building was still going strong. Damage was almost nil except for the few broken test tubes and glasses.
Suddenly his door was knocked and a disheveled peon came inside. "Sir, have you seen a six year old child around here? His name is Ayaan," He asked urgently.
Reyansh had relaxed too early. How foolish he was to think that there wouldn't be any problem.
"What happened? Have you asked Rewa? All of them were together," He asked, as all the children had run together from his office.
"They were together but then they got separated while searching for another colourful book that contained more information than the one in their hand. They felt that the first book was only a summarized version. Few of them had also come to me to ask...," the peon rambled off going off topic.
The team leader shook his head at the peon, and left his cabin to get proper information from the children.
Each kid except Ayaan stood in a straight line with their heads bowed with guilt, especially the elder ones.
"He was with us but then he wasn't...," Rewa said in a low guilty voice.
She was their unofficial team leader. It was her responsibility to take care of everybody.
"Don't worry. I will tell everyone in the building to look for Ayaan. In the meantime, stay in one single group," Reyansh assured, before moving towards his colleagues.
"Where is Payal?" He questioned, looking for Ayaan's mother.
"She was trying to go outside to look for Ayaan. We barely stopped her. But she is still roaming around the entrance," Kriti, the youngest researcher answered.
"Oh! Ayaan," Dhruv, an eight year old, shouted with happiness as he saw Ayaan coming in with his mother, father and another small guy.
"Where was he?" Reyansh asked, after heaving a sigh of relief.
"He saw his father and brother on the other side of the road and ran to meet them halfway," Payal answered, her eyes still worried about what might have happened.
"How can he just run outside? Especially when the earthquake hit. Do you even realise what could have happened?" Payal questioned out loud to no one in particular, while looking at her son laughing happily with no care of what he had done.
Her husband patted her shoulder, trying to comfort her. "Ayaan is alright," he whispered gently.
Payal nodded, trying to calm down. However, it was easier said than done.
"Why didn't you bring your other son here with Ayaan? Our building is much safer than any infrastructure. And what is his name?" Reyansh asked Payal.
Payal nervously glanced at her husband, who understood her plight and answered instead of her.
"We were coming here only but got stuck because of road blockage."
"Oh okay!" The team leader nodded.
Everyone's attention turned towards Ayaan who was now telling everyone about his brother excitedly, with full of expressions and hand gestures, while Avan stood there quietly with a shy smile on his face.
"He is Avan. We both have matching names. Ayaan-Avan. He is only five but he is so strong.
"Do you know? He even stopped a huge tree from falling on my head. Seriously, that huge bad tree was coming to crush me but then Avan covered me and suddenly the tree fell sideways."
"Kids and their imagination," Payal commented with a small fake laugh, while knowing fully well that there was a huge possibility that it was all true.
She could never forget the day when this all had started.
Five years ago
Payal was always stuck in her lab, whether it was the huge lab at the centre or the small one she created at her house. It was her paradise. She was a science person but not a nature person. Ironic, but it was the truth.
She loved the facts and micro-analyzing everything. Many had taunted her as she almost never went out. But she didn't really care. Majority of her first pregnancy was also spent in her lab.
However all this changed when she became pregnant for the second time. A sudden urge to grow plants grew. Slowly one plant increased to two, two to three and then a small garden was formed in her backyard.
Payal took care of them like they were her children. Spoke with them, even had conversations between her unborn baby and the plants. Her whole pregnancy term was spent like that. Taking care of the plants, soil, leaves, flowers, even the rocks; In short, each and every part of the Earth element of nature.
Thus when her child was born, she even named him after the Earth she had been taking care of. Avan- the owner of Earth.
One day, she was walking on her terrace with Avan in her arms. It was said that giving the rays of morning sun to the kids, gave them Vitamin D.
While walking she didn't realize that Ayaan's toy was lying around. She lost her balance because of it, and Avan went flying from her arms.
"Nooooo." Payal screamed for her child and went over the railing to see Avan rapidly moving towards the garden she had made.
She hurried down the stairs, praying continuously for her child. Her heart stopped when she didn't hear his cry.
"Was he de-,"
"No no, this couldn't happen."
Payal rushed towards the garden, with her heart in her mouth. She was okay even if Avan was injured.
"Just let him be alive," she prayed as she went near the garden.
There he was, giggling softly as the flower petal tickled him. The leaves and flowers had bent to carry him, stopping his fall.
The rocks had moved away, while the plants cradled him like a mother would to her child.
Payal had brought up this garden as a mother and today this garden saved her child like their own.
It was truly a miracle and she was thoroughly grateful for it. She didn't care how it happened and what happened. All that mattered was that her child was alive and well.
She picked Avan and cradled him close to her heart all the while thanking profusely to the Earth who had paid back her efforts in such a divine way.
Earth surely knew to repay the care it received.
