Reunion
"I found the keys to this place in a junk drawer at home. I forgot to give them back." Kirishima scratched the back of his neck. It was just a coincidence that he was up here, just the result of him happening upon those keys in his apartment and realizing he needed to return them.
He was surprised that he even still had them. He had moved twice since the last time he had seen Bakugou. How had he lost socks and entire pairs of shoes, but not this tiny set of keys? It was fate, really, that both of them had chosen this exact date and time to come here. Something had pulled them together again, and Kirishima was so weirdly thankful.
Bakugou had changed a lot since then. He was sporting an undercut and the fiery passion that his eyes usually carried had disappeared. This person was different from the one he had known seven years ago, and yet, so damn familiar.
"You could have mailed them..." Bakugou shifted the strap of the duffle back over his shoulder.
"I wouldn't have known where to mail them to." Kirishima lowered his gaze. "So...uh..." seeing Bakugou again, after all these years, had thrown him off guard. He didn't know what he was supposed to say or do.
"So, What? Spit it out, moron." It was clear that the anger Bakugou was displaying right now had been held deep inside for a long time. It was rare for Bakugou to hold in steam like that for any amount of time, so he must have matured out of that trait.
Or maybe he had lost the will to fight.
"Bakugou...I'm sorry, man. I didn't want you to end up like this because of me." Kirishima reached out to the blond but he backed away.
"End up like what? Who said I ended up like anything?" Bakugou hissed.
"Bro..." Kirishima stepped forward, scrunching his face up in worry. "We need to stop beating around the bush."
"You're the one to fucking talk. You've been beating around the bush since you showed up on my doorstep that day! I don't know shit about you!" As Bakugou closed the space between him, Kirishima worked to keep it vast. Bakugou was really starting to frighten him.
"I couldn't tell you anything back then. Things were hard enough."
"For all I know, you could have gotten kicked out for something bad. Is that why you couldn't tell me? So you could live in this fantasy world where you aren't garbage? So you could make everybody like you and then ditch them like trash when they no longer benefitted you?"
Kirishima's back hit the cabin and he swallowed hard as Bakugou came closer and closer, still furious. "You act like some kinda saint, but you wouldn't hesitate to ditch your best friend once he gets too boring for you."
Kirishima felt tears in his eyes. "YOU were the one who ditched ME!"
"What makes you think that?"
"You literally stopped talking to me, Bakugou. Or do you not remember? Because I do. You decided I was a burden on you and left me behind."
"You were the one who decided that. I never thought you were a burden, but you had other friends to take care of you. You were supposed to be fine without me." At this point, Bakugou was so close that Kirishima could feel his hot breath on his face. He mustered up as much courage as he had, and spoke.
"I'm not fine without you."
"Then why did you leave?"
Kirishima took a deep breath. He didn't want to get emotional, but this was a delicate matter that had been forced on him in a not-so-delicate way.
"I'm gay, Bakugou. I've been gay this whole time. And I didn't want to tell you because I was worried that you'd think poorly of me."
"What kind of person did you think I was? I may have been a total social disaster, but I had a feeling you were gay."
"Then why did you let me sleep with you? You let me cross a line that should have never been crossed and I just couldn't forgive myself."
"You're talking like I regretted it, like I wouldn't do it again in a heartbeat."
"You said you weren't gay."
"I didn't think I was."
"Aaaagh." Kirishima groaned. He wasn't used to arguing with anybody like this. He didn't know what else to say. And it wasn't like he had expected to see Bakugou up here. He hadn't planned out his words beforehand.
"I have to go."
"Why? Will I ever see you again?"
"Yes...no...I don't know, Bakugou. This isn't a good time for me." Kirishima sighed. "I...I want to, but I'm..." he didn't want to say it because Bakugou's hand had landed on his hip and he was absolutely melting over it. Why did this guy have to do these things to him?
"I think I can stay for a few more minutes." He whispered as Bakugou's lips hovered over his. "But only a few."
