Slowly, the front door of the Agreste mansion creaked open, and as soon as it was fully open a relieved sigh followed the loud thud of bags.
"That was exhausting!" Nathalie stated as they arrived home.
"Yeah, it was." Gabriel added, almost collapsing right where he was.
However, unfortunately they'd need to go all the way up the steep staircase before they would be able to fall onto their own beds, and get the rest which each of them craved.
"Gosh." Adrien started to drag his suitcase up the stairs "today was a long day." the boy sighed, terribly tired by the time he managed to get to the top of the stairs "...good night father, good night Nathalie!" And with that he slammed the door shut, making the two adults jump.
"We should go too." The designer whispered, rather unenthusiastically "you know...to sleep."
"Yes Gabriel I am aware, but I'm also just too tired to even move."
"Well, we have to get up somehow." He shrugged and then began to head towards the staircase, however, midway the man stopped to turn around and see his now girlfriend looking dead at him.
"You want me to carry you, don't you?"
The designer rolled his eyes, over-dramatically, and then his assistant responded even more arrogantly:
"Maybe." She spat.
"Maybe." She smiled seeing her superior drop his bags and begin to walk towards her.
Gabriel sighed a couple of times before he could bring himself to reach out both of his arms and lift up Nathalie.
He was very tired and just wanted to sleep, however he knew he couldn't leave his girlfriend staring grumpily at him, so with all the remaining strength left in him, the designer walked up the stairs.
After the tiring journey he attempted to carefully lay down his assistant on the bed, which somewhat succeeded, despite the few little stumbles of his tired feet.
At least now they were both in their room, and almost ready to sleep.
"I'm leaving the bags downstairs for tonight..."stated Gabriel whilst yawning "...I'm way too tired to walk back down and then up again."
He said as he made his way to the bathroom where he first reached for a toothbrush, except his hand collied with another that was none other than his girlfriend's.
The dark haired woman had somehow teleported right next to her boss and now she was brushing her teeth right beside him, just like he was.
"No worries." Nathalie whispered "I didn't need anything from the bags anyway, so you can leave them for now." She smiled before squeezing a bit of toothpaste onto her brush, and then onto Gabriel's.
"Let's just hurry to bed because I can't stay awake for much longer."
"Agreed!" The man beside her nodded, staring at their sleepy reflections in the mirror.
Both of their hair looking like it's been through a hurricane, their eyes almost closed, and their clothes crumpled.
Without question the two couldn't wait to change into a more comfortable choice of clothes, because by now being in the same formal attire all day long has tired them out.
So needless to say that as soon as they finished brushing their teeth, Nathalie and Gabriel both struggled with their remaining strengths over to the designer's closet where a random, old pijama shirt became their best option for comfy attire.
"Oh good night." The assistant literary fell onto the bed, smiling as she felt herself sink into the mattress. "And sweet dreams to you, sir." She booped his nose which took the man completely by shock.
He even fully opened his closed eyes to stare into his employee's soul, questioning every one of her decisions which has led up to the nose boop.
Nathalie felt a bit intimidated by the intense stare of her boss.
It made her feel as if he was either going to slap her across the face or start sobbing uncontrollably. However before she could've opened her mouth to ease the tension, Gabriel spoke:
"What the hell." He chuckled, relieving the woman from all her worries immediately.
"What was that for?"
"Well I just wanted to." She awkwardly said.
"Wanted to...touch my nose?" He laughed
"Boop it."
"Boop it?"
"Yes, you know, like a little tap."
By the end of the conversation the designer was giggling like a mad man, rolling around unable to stop as Nathalie's actions were just too hilarious for him to process. In the meantime the dark haired woman watched all this from the other side of the bed, super concerned and also super tired.
She didn't know if she should've stopped him or just let the man be, because although it was quite entertaining to watch her superior's childish acts, it was also quite annoying as she wanted to sleep.
So when Gabriel rolled towards her to laugh, the woman didn't hesitate to grab her boss's shoulder and hold him in place to make the giggles stop.
"Sir please." Nathalie whispered "Calm down."
"I-I-I it's just so funny-..." he continued, but seeing the tired expression of his girlfriend, her eyes red, almost closing, and her stare cold, looking absolutely exhausting, the man soon realized he did have to come to a stop.
"I'm sorry." Gabriel finally answered"...I didn't mean to keep you up. You need rest."
"Thank you." The assistant smiled in response "I think we both need rest."
"Right. You're correct"
With that the dark haired woman pulled their shared blanket upwards and adjusted herself comfortably, but of course, in a matter of seconds instead of the cozy blanket keeping her warm, the designer had crawled closer to her to lay his arms around the assistant's waist and like that make his chest lay against her back.
Placing his head on her shoulder, only gently pressing down so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable, Gabriel had created himself a pillow, and in addition he'd have his girlfriend as a personal plush to hold throughout the entire night.
Unless she got too annoyed of him and would turn away.
But the probability of that was low since Nathalie also enjoyed having her new boyfriend near by, being held close by his protective arms, occasionally felling him move his head a little forwards to place a kiss onto her cheek, and hearing the quiet sound of him smile and breathe happily whenever near her.
These all made the woman feel a special type of way, happier than the word happy could describe it, more excited than you could've imagined, and more adored than she ever expected.
Now the dark haired woman smiled thinking about how lucky she was as she leaned back against Gabriel's chest and in response felt the man's arms once again tighten around her.
"Everything alright?" He asked with a very tired mumble, surprising Nathalie that he was still awake.
"Yes I'm fine, sorry for waking you."
"You didn't, I was still awake."
"Then sorry for not letting you sleep."
"Please don't apologize Nath" he whispered close to her ear "You didn't do anything wrong, in fact I'm glad I could be awake to feel you lean back."
"I-oh-...uhm-"
"Apologies, didn't mean to make it sound weird. I just-...I'm glad we're together you know." The designer said as his lips formed a smile, and soon moved to place a kiss onto the woman's cheek.
"I-...I'm glad too." She uttered, still being a bit amazed.
Her mind crowded with all these different thoughts. Some about them, some about work and the business, others about the random worries which haunted her day and night.
And in the meantime of Nathalie being motionless, her superior could sense that something wasn't right.
He felt her no longer comfortably laying her back against him, in fact the assistant began moving away and curling up into her own little ball of loneliness.
Except the grey haired man couldn't possibly allow his girlfriend to suffer, so even though he was almost asleep, Gabriel made the effort to reach after her.
"Nath." He said quietly, his hand grabbing hers, pulling the woman back and snapping her out from those stressful thoughts.
"Yes sir?" The assistant immediately answered with a cold and professional line.
"Nathalie don't overthink! Please just come here and rest."
"O-Okay." She sighed before crawling back under the warm blanket where the arms of her boyfriend immediately pulled her towards him.
To no one's surprise within seconds she was resting her head on his chest, the man's hands lost in her hair, stroking through it while he waited for the assistant to fully close her eyes and begin drooling.
Then he knew she was fully sleeping.
Looking down at Nathalie, Gabriel smiled as he saw the blurry image of his girlfriend sleeping peacefully, and after knowing that she was no longer worrying or overwhelming herself with thoughts, the man finally could rest too.
So with a last kiss that he laid on top of her head, the designer also closed his eyes.
-
"Nathalie."
The assistant heard her name getting mumbled by a sleepy voice, then feeling a pair of strong arms wrap around her waist and someone lay their head on her chest.
Once again saying:
"Nathalie ."
But this was more of a groan instead of an ordinary mumble, this actually sounded like one's whining voice.
"Nathalie turn off your alarm! Today is free!"
It was her boss, her boyfriend who had been fussing.
Despite that though, the dark haired woman struggled to open her eyes, especially because she laid so comfortably on the bed, in addition the warmth of Gabriel gently laying on top of her was something she never wished to lose.
However by the fourth time her superior said "Nathalie!" the assistant actually managed to reach over to her phone and have a look at what was making this tedious noise.
To her surprise it wasn't an alarm, it was an incoming call.
And it wasn't a person who she'd expect to be calling her at such a time like Adrien or Audrey, instead it was 'the random guy' as Gabriel called him.
"Nathalie turn it off!!!" The annoyed voice of the grey haired man now echoed through the room.
"I-I c-can't sir-"
"Why not?"
"It's not an alarm." She explained "Someone is trying to call me!"
"Who is?"
"Ron."
"Who?!"
"'The random guy' as you've called him before, you know, your previous wife's husband!"
"Oh him! Why the hell is he calling you?!" Gabriel snapped.
Suddenly he got up from where he was lying before and stared at his girlfriend judgmentally "What does he want?!?!" The designer spat disgusted "How does he even have your number?!?!"
"Well we exchanged numbers at the wedding, b-but I-I'm not sure what he wants, maybe it's something to do with the club where I wanted to meet with Felix's 'father' who 'died'"
"Maybe?" He asked "What else could it be Nath?"
"I-I-I don't know! How would I know?!?!"
"Oh because you two seem to be close!" Gabriel mocked "Best buddies!" He rolled his eyes and turned his face to the side, giving the assistant a scary glare from the corner of his eye.
"Stop it!" She answered "Don't tell me you're jealous or whatever. We seriously have nothing going on! I swear! And you know I wouldn't lie."
"F-fine." The designer struggled to believe her, but out of all the people in his life, Gabriel knew that the woman in front of him right now was the one who has barely ever lied to him.
So regardless of those few annoying scenarios that popped up in his head, the man otherwise knew that he shouldn't be doubting her loyalty.
"Sir-" Nathalie looked at him, her eyes shining with honesty. "We don't-"
"F-fine! I believe you! But to let you know as a man myself, I wouldn't just ask for a pretty woman's number only to call her in the morning and tell her about someone in the family. Obviously I'd do it to get more out of the situation, therefore he is also-"
"Gabriel!" She cut him off "You're overthinking! Not to mention that he has a wife! And kids! He is simply helping me with a little mission."
"Well I don't like this little mission."
