"Again?!" Gabriel uttered totally amazed.
"Yes dad, again, you'll be a grandfather all over again."Alice smiled back, but before the father and daughter could've hugged, Emilie had to interrupt.
"Another one?" She said a little bit worried. "Are you sure you want that?!"
"I-yes-...I-I mean obviously! I kept the child for a reason."
"Well alright, I just think it's a bit much at such a young age."
"Oh come on, I can perfectly manag-"
"Alice what?!?!" A concerning, anxious voice coming from Martin cut her off, and when the young woman looked up at her husband she saw that he was staring down at her exactly like she was staring back at him.
With tears in both of their eyes the man made a little gesture to wipe her tears away before he wiped his away, and then softly smiled.
"You're not joking now, are you?"
"I'm not." Alice whispered weakly as she was unsure if those were happy or sad tears in Martin's eyes, but as soon as she felt his hands on her waist and then the next thing she knew he picked her up, then the woman knew that her husband was more than happy whilst he spun her around.
"These are wonderful news!!" He cheered making everyone smile, well of course everyone except Emilie who just left.
But her 'disappearance' didn't bother anyone much, or at least it seemed like that, because deep down Alice was very hurt but she tried to hide the fact.
After all everyone else was happy, so it was almost irrelevant that one person didn't approve, well it would've been, only if Emilie wasn't Alice's mother.
Then the blond woman wouldn't have cared, but now as his own mother appeared so disgusted and disturbed she couldn't help but feel a bit guilty.
"Love!" a happy voice brought her back into reality though "I love you so much." and there came a kiss from her very own beloved husband. "Now come on let's get the boys and put them to bed before they throw a tantrum."
"R-right y-yeah." She shook her head trying to forget any sad thoughts, "L-let's go."
With that the freshly married couple was off to fetch the little kids, and now Gabriel and Nathalie were left behind.
"Could this be us in a few months?" The designer nudged his fiancée jokingly who just rolled her eyes sarcastically and gave back a punch to him.
"Oh shut up! I have other things to worry about then us being this!"
"C'mon, what now? Why are you grumpy all of a sudden?"
"Well didn't you see how your dear 'wife' looked at your daughter before?"
"Huh?" The designer didn't understand.
"Emilie was not having it!" His assistant shouted in frustration "A-and it made Alice so sad! I feel terrible for the girl now."
"Please, she won't even remember it by tomorrow."
"It's not like that Gabriel! It was about her child and of course she will remember it!!"
"Okay so what now? What do you want to do? Tell Alice that she shouldn't care about her mother or what?!"
"No you dumbass!" Another punch "I just-...I don't know...maybe I should tell Martin to-"
"To what?! I'm sure that he already has plenty of things in his mind which will make Alice happier than anything! You know-"
"GABRIEL!" Nathalie could no longer listen to anything else coming from her husband, so with a swift movement she pulled her hand away from his and stepped aside "Enough of this nonsense show you're putting on! Now let me talk to him!" She left right after saying that, leaving the grey haired man all confused and concerned.
But he couldn't do much about it, so the designer simply had to wait until his fiancée would be back, until then he grabbed a few more drinks, just to ease his mind.
During Gabriel's little drinking party the dark haired woman followed the young couple who were over at the children's place, trying to run after the two toddlers who very stubbornly didn't want to go home, so therefore Alice had to case down one whilst Martin ran after the other.
Except that the brown haired man got stopped mid race when a hand suddenly grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him aside.
"Listen!" Nathalie began "You might not see it but I know trust me that Alice feels a bit bad!"
"W-why?! D-did I-"
"No it's not about you! It's about Emilie's reaction! You know she wasn't so supportive of the idea that now Alice has a third kid on the way."
"I-oh." Martin realized with a sad expression, immediately feeling bad for his wife and wanting to comfort her. "I'm so sorry about that."
"Yeah well I just wanted to tell you that I already know you must be thinking of making her happy this night but...you know maybe just comfort her about this and make sure that she isn't sad, because I know that right now she is trying to hide it, but deep down she feel guilty. So just make her feel okay, okay?"
"Okay." The man smiled to which the assistant nodded, yet before she could've left, Martin grabbed onto her wrist, and now he was the one to pull her back "By the way Nathalie...I-...I just wanted to say thank you for everything." He confessed. "Without you I wouldn't be here today a-and...you know you just helped me a lot. So I wish the best for both you and Gabriel. And of course invite me to the wedding!"
"Of course you're invited!" She laughed "I have to annoy Gabriel in some way, so you'll be perfect."
"Hah thanks!" The brown haired man replied sarcastically "Great to hear that I'm useful.
Now anyways I gotta go because...kids!"
"Yeah yeah have fun."
"Bye Nath," the brown haired man waived "love you!"
And to the sound of that the woman didn't even know what to say in return, she just quickly tried to show the same amount of kindness so Nathalie without thinking about it uttered:
"L-love you too!" she waived as well "...M-Martin..."
Well that sure felt strange to say, maybe even wrong, but at least her fiancé wasn't around because if he would've been, then the assistant would've had a lot of explaining to do on why she was so suddenly flustered.
So thankful in this case Nathalie had a little time to calm down and gather herself before going to find where exactly her boss was hiding, because he sure wasn't where she had left him.
-
After a bit of looking around and asking Felix (who knew 'everything') where Gabriel was, Nathalie found her superior sitting at a desk, his face tilted down to stare at the table, whilst Adrien was sitting next to him, tapping his father's back.
"He got a bit drunk." The teenager explained to which the dark haired woman couldn't help but start hysterically laughing.
"A bit? Adrien your father looks like he just drank a whole vodka bottle! How are we even gonna carry him back to the hotel?!?!"
"I-...well...he is still conscious." The boy listed the only possible pro of this situation.
"He is?"
"He is! Watch this. FATHER!!! WAKE UP THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!!"
And as if the house would've actually been burning to ashes the grey haired man lifted his head, but the second he did so his body suddenly fell to the side, and with a horribly loud sound, Gabriel crashed down onto the floor.
"Ow ouch." Nathalie gasped, immediately rushing down to help him up, but the best that she could do was, kneel down next to him and slowly pull the man's head into her lap.
At least he wasn't licking up the floor that way.
"Sir are you still alive?" She asked worried.
"As fine as one can be dear!" He responded immediately making his assistant smile "Just a little tired love, but you'll take me home right?"
"I...of course of course. Come here." She put her arms around him, as if she'd give the guy a hug, except that way Nathalie attempted to lift him, but of course that wasn't so easy.
She still needed the help of Adrien, whom she'd managed to get Gabriel back on the chair with, but they couldn't move him any more than that.
"Goddamn, father is a tough one, literally!"
"Yeah" the assistant chuckled "and this is what I've been dealing with for over 17 years now!"
"Damn Nathalie, you deserve an award or something."
"Bare minimum at this point. Anyways come." she changed the topic "help me get your father 'home', because unfortunately as much as I would want to leave him here, I can't. It would make me look bad in front of the whole family."
"Mhm yeah, and obviously I don't want to make my mom seem bad!"
"Oh you sweetheart!" The woman giggled until she looked down at her fiancé, the she laughed hysterically once more before grabbing his wrists and saying: "Dibs holding his arms, you take his legs."
"Nath!! That's so unfair."
"Sorry but I called dibs."
-
Once they got 'home', meaning the hotel room in which they were staying at, Nathalie and Adrien both 'threw' Gabriel down onto the bed.
And that was a job well done.
The designer got home safe, in fact they only dropped him a few times, but nothing serious since he never woke up from any of the drops.
The woman even thought that her boss had died but as he was still breathing that would've been quite unlikely.
"Good night Nath and...father...if he is still living." Waved the blond boy as he was about to shut the door and leave his two 'parents' alone.
"Yeah don't worry, he is snoring, anyways good night Adrien! Sweet dreams!"
"To you too!"
With that the teenager left, leaving the assistant all by herself...and of course the totally wasted designer.
"Gabriel?...GABRIEL?!"
He still didn't wake up, in fact the man didn't even move to the sound of that which just made his fiancée sigh in exhaustion as she collapsed next to him.
"Oh you're such a difficult person Gabe! Sometimes I even wonder how the fuck can you be so-...so handsome yet so bitchy." She said that all to herself, since the designer probably heard none of it "But I love you of course! A-and...well-...I've been thinking about what you said at the wedding earlier. 'Could this be us in a month?'...well it indeed could as we are planning a wedding b-but...I'm not so sure about the kid...I'd say I'm too old to have one, not physically but I mean that I mentally wouldn't be able to have such patience and care which I had when Adrien was little...you know it's difficult...well anyways...maybe I will change my mind...but neither of us are great parental figures so maybe we shouldn't even think about it...I don't know! Sorry, I didn't mean to shout." Nathalie apologized to the sleeping man next to her who still hasn't reacted at all, it was almost as if he would've been some kind of statue.
He was sleeping so soundly that the woman didn't dare to wake him, instead she just allowed Gabriel to lay in his formal attire which he wore for the wedding, even his shoes were on, but that wasn't so much of a problem as his feet were hanging off of the bed since he was quite tall.
Anyways, the assistant herself got pretty tired from this busy day, a whole wedding, talking to people, trying to make good first impressions, and it was all just a big circus show.
So as her eyes became tired she gathered her last little amount of strength to brush her teeth, take her makeup off and put on something more comfortable, before getting into bed, and wishing her future husband good night.
"Sleep well my handsome boy." Nathalie smiled.
