"Oh" Amelie's lover gave her a surprised look again "I thought you two were together, my apologies."
"No-no it's alright...we're not together yet! So hopefully-"
"-A, now I get it!" He smiled and Nathalie blushed "You're almost there!"
"Exactly...almost!" She repeated with a smile, whilst looking at his very unexplainably creepy face, maybe it was that constant smile or the familiar looking features that bothered the young woman.
He had dark hair, inky black hair which seemed to have no flaw in it, no grey strand or a discolored one, it appeared perfect.
However this wasn't his only scary feature, the lovers's eyes also reminded Nathalie of someone, and yet she couldn't think of who exactly that mysterious someone was.
It was almost as if the assistant's mind would've suddenly just erased all her memories and she couldn't remember anyone.
So with a quick shake of her head Nathalie asked:
"Sorry what's your name?"
"Mine? Oh it's Ron, short for Ronald, but that just sounds embarrassing and so I-"
"Tom!" She yelled out, completely cutting off the man who was just in the middle of his explaining, and making him question:
"Who pardon?"
"Tom!-...o-oh-...you don't know...it's a person...I know...or knew...some time ago. He looked almost exactly like you...well maybe a little shorter...and I just couldn't think of him, but as you said your name and it rhymes with Tom I immediately realized!"
"G-great?"
"I guess...but you don't have a sibling called Tom by any chance?"
"N-no...as far as I'm concerned...I'm an only child."
"Good, good." Nathalie sighed in relief, still not realizing that her talking partner was utterly confused, but after a few second of calming down she just shrugged it off.
"It's nothing you should worry about."
-
Meanwhile this though, the two lovers from the past were discussing everything they've missed out on, and although this conversation was just meant to be a simple goodbye, it got much deeper.
"I'm sorry." She began. "I ran away, without informing you and-...and I guess totally betrayed you by that."
"Yeah. Well-...I'm also sorry..."
"For what?"
"For...not being good enough for you."
"Please..." Emilie shook her head, and turned away, embarrassed "...you were always perfect. It was just me who made you seem so bad and useless. With that I tried to cover my own problems and insecurities but this only made things bad for the both of us...didn't it?"
"It did." Gabriel sighed hopelessly, but even in such a depressing time like this he managed to gather enough strength to wipe his wife's tears away and pull her close.
This without question took the blond woman very off guard, but she didn't mind, in fact, for the first time in forever she actually liked the physical touch he was offering her, and so, Emilie wrapped her arms around her husband's back, and quietly sobbed:
"Oh forgive me!" The woman cried as quietly and yet as loudly as possible "I am horrible! And I deserve-"
"Hush Em, I already forgave you many years ago, there's no need to apologize! I just-...I just want to-..."
"To?"
"To stay like this...for a few more minutes."
"Of course..." she hugged him tighter "and surprisingly enough I also like this...a lot in fact."
"You do?"
"Mhm, it's a shocker I know."
"A good one though."
They both giggled in agreement before realizing that maybe this conversation had completely lost it's original purpose and now they were getting rather personal. But as neither of them cared they just continued in a friendly tone:
"So-...how has Adrien been? He's-...17 now, right?"
"Yes, almost an adult, in fact, only a few more months and he will be one!"
"Wow..." The woman whispered"...my sweet boy...he's getting so big, already? It feels like yesterday when I held him in my arms and he was so adorably tiny."
"I know. I also remember it, quite well,...in fact."
~
" Oh...a boy! What a precious little boy!"
Cheered almost everyone as they stared upon baby Adrien, and funnily enough the only two people who weren't cheering were the actual parents.
Emilie just shrugged and looked over at her husband who also had the same reaction.
So with the same amount of sadness in them they both agreed:
"Well...at least they're happy now, right?"
"Right...but are you happy?" Asked the shy young man staring at his exhausted wife who was just as equally fed up as depressed, and since that indicated that she wasn't in the 'best' mood, Emilie almost immediately snapped:
"What does that matter Gabriel? Has any of our feelings ever mattered before? Do you think they would even care if I'd start sobbing my soul out right here and now? No! Exactly! So be quiet and...and smile like you at least love your son!"
"I-..."
"Quiet!"
She shouted once more fearfully, so fearfully in fact that even Gabriel himself got scared and just nodded to her words before putting on that fake smile.
"Oh what a precious boy!"
~
"I-...I'm sorry..."
"What no, don't be!" Emilie scoffed placing her head on her husband's chest and then looking up to his crying face "it's all in the past now! There's nothing to change and nothing to lose!"
She took her hand, with that slowly but surely dragged the man's face downwards so he'd be staring at her, and then Emilie out of nowhere kissed Gabriel making him not only blush but also gasp.
"Wha-"
"Sorry, this was just like a sort of apology, don't take it personal though because I know you and Nathalie-"
But well before the blond woman could've even had the chance to finish her sentence the grey haired man was the one to cut her off exactly like she.
And with that kiss Gabriel didn't hold back, in fact, he even moved his hands to her hips and by that pressed her closer against him.
"I like your apologies Em, and you've even changed your ways a bit, haven't you?"
"I had to." She smirked "That man is making me act all nice and sweet, but damn it I'm sort of falling for it."
"Are you now? Really?"
"Sort of..." The woman kissed him back, and placed her hands around Gabriel's neck, that way he'd get pulled closer and closer with every kiss "...but I still hate physical touch!"
"Do you now? Really?"
"Gabriel you know me!"
"I do, and this isn't like you, at all. So am I talking to Amelie or is this Emilie?"
"Two in one my love." She smiled completely tricking the grey haired man to the point where he pulled back and take a better look at his woman, but before he could've come to a final conclusion about who she really was the woman scoffed. "I'm joking! It's me obviously!"
"Me? As if that would be an answer when we're talking about twins."
"I meant Emilie!" She rolled her eyes "Plus shouldn't you be sure if I was or wasn't your wife?"
"Well-...I am forgetful-"
"-Then I guess you need a slight reminder don't you?"
-
"Heeeey!" Said a shy female voice through the phone.
"Hello?" Replied a confused male voice not sure of who was on the other line.
"Heeeeeey! It's me, Alice, you know the girl you quite literally bumped into...Gabriel's daughter...the blond-"
"-Ah yes hello! This is Martin, I mean obviously who else should it be..."
"...right."
Both of their voices came to an end there, and now an awkward silence fell upon the two young people.
They wanted to break it, but had no idea what to say as a conversation starter, so one of them just sighed:
"Well-...I-...I wanted to call because-...because you seem like someone who'd be a good-...a good friend!"
"Friend?" Martin asked back sounding so heartbroken and hopeless: "Like only -...f-friends?"
"I-...uh-...I mean-...I mean like good adult friends, you know! Like Nathalie and my dad! Of course not exactly because they do have some deep issues and I wouldn't want to live like Nathalie but-"
"-I think I get it!" He audibly smiled to the sound of that, making Alice on the other side also smile and even laugh a little.
"G-great...great...s-so...maybe...if I ever go back to Paris...w-would you like to-"
"Have a date?"
"Uh-"
"-And by the way I can sort of help with your trip since I do basically own a traveling agency-!"
-Now Martin was getting way ahead of himself without noticing.
He'd already imagined and almost even planned everything, but before the man could've visualized the finished idea Alice's voice brought him back to reality-
"I-oh, how great! I-I just-...well I can't really take-...you see I wouldn't want to leave the kids behind and perhaps it would be easier for you to-...come here."
"Right...right..."
"After all a flight to London is barely two hours and so-"
"I have a fear of heights-" the brown haired man interrupted, and by that he received a sudden hysterical laugh as a reply.
"What?" Martin now asked being unsure of why Alice was uncontrollably laughing so bad, maybe it was something he said? Or someone else got her so happy?
Either was he was bothered by it, so Martin asked once again, this time though being more stern with his voice: "What!?"
"S-sorry but you're being serious right now?"
"Y-yeah..."
"You have a fear of heights...and you own a traveling agency?"
"Look I know it's ridiculous but-"
"No Martin you're actually pleasantly hilarious! And I love it! You're unintentionally funny in a good way!"
"R-really?" He asked instantly feeling special and honored instead of offended and hurt. "You mean it?"
"Of course! Why else would I have called you?"
"I-..."
"Trust me I could be playing with the kids or visiting my family right this second but instead I'm risking the house being absolutely destroyed by the boys whilst I'm locked up in the bathroom talking with you!"
"Oh-..." he didn't quite know what to say as a reply because most part of Martin was totally melting from the joy that statement gave him and the other part of him just couldn't quite process how he managed to meet such a lovely girl who mesmerized him.
"I-...thanks...but maybe you should be with-"
"No! I can't, I really can't! I'd go insane if I would need to play cars with them, and I know this sounds horrible but doing the same thing over and over again pushes me further and further to the edge...I mean seriously! Parenting all alone is like endlessly running in a hamster ball...you know?"
"Well-...I don't."
-
"Gabriel! Gabriel, Gabriel! Stop it! Come on get off of me now! And hurry!" Said Emilie as she could very clearly hear her lover's and Nathalie's conversation come to an end. "Act normal!"
And with that she flung the door open to see the dark haired woman and the even darker haired man stand beside each other, looking at the light hair colored people with a surprised expression.
"So sir? Can we go?"
"Y-yes! Yes we can!" Gabriel smiled, hiding all of his guilt and lies whilst he grabbed his assistant's arm and quite literally rushed out of the building.
"Well that was strange..."
"Yeah, those two are always strange." The pretend Amelie scoffed "But you can't help it, my sister's husband has always been a bit-..."
"A bit?"
"A bit weird you know. After all he is a fashion designer working for Audrey Bourgeois who...who is one hell of a woman. You know the things they say about her right?"
"Like that she-"
"She has affairs with every worker she employs? Yeah that! How pathetic."
And yet how ironic, especially coming from the mouth of a woman who just had an affair.
To be continued-
Sorry, not only was this chapter a complete mess (I mean I seriously don't know how I'm writing so bad lately) but also sorry for that affair!!
