"What no! Why would you say that?!"
The teenager exclaimed as he rushed over to his father and tried to help him up, but Gabriel refused. Instead he pushed his own son away and stood up all by himself.
"You hate me...don't you?"
"I-..." Adrien hesitated "-...hate is a strong word."
"Either way Emilie would've taken better care of you..." the designer sighed for a moment before once again falling into tears "-... I know this is all my fault but I was just trying to please everyone."
"W-what do you mean?"
"Your mother-...oh that poor soul never deserved any of this."
"I don't understan-"
"GET OUT!"
"But I-"
"ADRIEN! LEAVE!"
And thankfully before Gabriel would've lost his mind the teenager went back to his room leaving his father all alone.
So now as Gabriel was about to reach for something to grab and sooner or later potentially destroy the designer managed to hold himself back.
With a relieved sigh he sat down onto the bed and stared onto the ground in shame, of course his little purple kwami immediately got alarmed once his owner's tears started falling so without hesitation Nooroo asked:
"Master...should I-"
"No, leave her alone, Nathalie also needs some time for herself, let's just go down to Em."
"Of course Master."
The little kwami watched as his owner exited his room and began to hurry down the marble stairs.
Within a few minutes they were already in the basement and Gabriel was sadly glancing over at the coffin.
He stared at his wife for a couple of moments before fully collapsing on top of the glass barrier.
"Em-...I'm sorry my love. I don't think I can bring you back." The designer sobbed heavier and heavier as the time went on. "Please forgive me for everything I've done."
Moments later after saying that, Gabriel's grip on the glass coffin became weak and he slipped down onto the floor.
The grey haired man didn't even have enough strength to get up so instead he just spent the night sleeping there, in front of his wife's coffin.
Of course Nooroo would've tried to get help but since his master told him not to get Nathalie the little kwami had to also sleep downstairs.
Nooroo wasn't too excited about sleeping in the creepy old basement where Emilie lied, but he couldn't be too far away from Gabriel because of the magic spell that was put upon him, so the kwami had to cope with their not so great situation.
*meanwhile with Nathalie and Martin*
Martin had driven her home and now he was standing in the assistant's doorway watching as Nathalie stepped into her own apartment.
The young woman turned around with a smile and was about to shut the door when Martin suddenly spoke:
"So-...you're okay now?"
"Well...somewhat."
"A-Alright." The brown haired man nodded as he tried to make a tiny movement towards her but as soon as the assistant could feel his fingers interlink with hers; she jumped.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"No it's alright. I'm just still a little-"
"Of Course, I understand."
With a disappointed sigh Martin forced a smile onto his face and turned away to leave.
Nathalie had no further things to say, or do, so she shut her door and finally got all of this space for herself. Lucky, since she really needed some time alone where no one would comment on anything she did.
So now the assistant could process what had happened in the past couple of days.
She obviously still didn't feel very comfortable in her own skin, but it would take some time before she could accept it.
Things wouldn't feel the same anymore, and everything would take a lot of patience to except.
But Nathalie hoped that soon enough she could forget all of this and continue her life as a completely normal person.
*meanwhile with Adrien*
The teenager wondered where his father has gone since all he saw was Gabriel rushing down the stairs and then he heard a loud slam, which probably came from the office door.
"Do you think he's gone?" Asked Adrien as he peaked his head out through a small opening in the door.
He looked around once or twice but still, there was no sight of Gabriel.
The kid still received no answer which annoyed him so he looked back his kwami and asked his question once more again, but this time a little louder:
"Do you think he's gone?"
"Like your mother?" Plagg laughed but Adrien just gave his kwami a punch which didn't feel so good.
"Shut up Plagg, you're no help!"
"Sounds like someone's desperate to get out of the house."
"Yes but if father finds out...whatever, he is too busy with his own life he won't mind about mine. It's not like he ever did."
So with that Adrien took his little bag of 'stuff' and made a run for it.
He quickly opened the front door and now he was outside, so he just had to get out the big iron gates.
Of course he didn't have a key but he did have the powers of Chat Noir, so within seconds the kid transformed into his hero-self and jumped over the fence.
*meanwhile with Nathalie*
Nathalie had decided to take a bath, but she soon realized that this was the single worst choice in her whole entire life.
Not only did her scar hurt like hell but she couldn't even look at herself properly before getting reminded of...'him'...and all of the bad things he did to her.
She was all by herself which meant no one could help her out of the tub so she just laid there for hours until she finally managed to crawl out.
The young assistant quickly grabbed a towel and threw herself onto her own very comfy bed.
But even this place reminded her of bad things.
She couldn't do anything or go anywhere because all she would see were shadows of 'him', and just when she thought he was about to jump at her, Nathalie realized it was just her imagination playing games.
She couldn't handle all of these things on her own, but who would she call for help?
Gabriel or Martin?
Well she didn't know the right answer herself but since Martin and her were in a more friendly relationship than professional she decided to dial his number.
"Hello?"
"H-hey...I was...wondering if...you could...come over...I know it's late and you were probably sleeping but-"
"Don't worry, I'm on my way."
"T-thank you."
The assistant let out a relieved sigh as she placed her phone down and waited for him to come over.
But still she wasn't completely relieved, in fact she never knew if she ever would be.
...
After some time Martin did ring the doorbell and Nathalie had to force herself to get out of bed so that she could open the door.
He was standing there looking as if it was freezing cold by wearing two jacket meanwhile the assistant herself was wrapped in one single towel.
So it was quite hilarious when the two saw each-other.
"H-Hey."
"Hi...you may come in...I mean obviously I wouldn't just lock you out if I invited you but-...I'll shut up."
"No-no, it's fine."
Martin smiled as he placed both of his warm jackets onto the hanger and followed after Nathalie.
"So-...you wanted me here for?"
"Well I-...I just-...I'm not sure..."
"Do you need help with anything?"
"Y-yes..."
"And what would that be?"
"Falling asleep..."
Nathalie awkwardly smiled as she sat on the bed and also signaled him to sit next to her. "I just can't forget 'him'"
"Him? Who's him?"
"You know. The guy-..."
"Nathalie there are many guys..."
"Tom!"
"Who the hell is Tom?!"
"Omg are you this clueless?! The guy who..."
"Ooohh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know his name was Tom. I didn't know him at all in fact."
"It's fine" Nathalie sighed as she pulled the blanket over herself so that Martin wouldn't see her embarrassed face, but within seconds he took the blanket and pulled it a bit down so at least their eyes would meet.
"So how do you want to do this? Should I read you a bedtime story or-?"
"Oh no please, that's...weird. Just lay here and I guess hold me...but not too close...oh god I don't know how to explain."
"It's fine, I think I get it."
Martin giggled whilst Nathalie had her face resting in her palm, but before she knew it she felt that he had indeed tried to hold her so now the assistant brought her face up from her hands so she could see what was happening.
"Like this?"
"I-I guess...I don't know...it just doesn't feel right..." suddenly she began to sob "-...nothing feels right anymore." Nathalie cried which only worried Martin thinking that he did something wrong.
*meanwhile with Adrien*
He was now on a train that would hopefully take him far away from Paris, and closer to his cousin (Felix).
They've planned to meet at some place in London but since Adrien has barely been in the outside world he had no idea where he was heading.
All he knew that it would take him two or more days to get to his destination, but as long as he wouldn't get caught he'd be all fine.
"Adrien this is a horrible idea."
Plagg whispered from under his shirt to which the teenager just shrugged.
"Didn't you also want to be free?"
"Yeah but if your father-"
"He won't!" Exclaimed Adrien loudly to which he got a few weird looks since everyone thought he was talking to himself, so this time in order to not catch much attention he whispered: "He won't."
"I wouldn't be so sure of that kid, if I know one thing about Mr. Agreste it's that he values you very much. I'm telling you Adrien! Sooner or later you'll get caught. And then you won't ever be able to leave your room!"
"Shut up Plagg! I don't want to hear any of that!"
So with that the little kwami hid away and let his owner be grumpy all by himself.
*meanwhile with Gabriel*
Now the grey haired man woke up to feel something resting in his hair, at first he thought it was one of the annoying akumas that somehow flew there but once he reached to grab it Nooroo exclaimed in terror.
"It's just me master!!!"
"Oh sorry Nooroo" Gabriel got up and looked around which made him realize that he accidentally fell asleep down in his own basement. "Did I just-"
"Fall asleep here? Yes Master, you've spent the night in the basement."
"Gosh this is embarrassing."
"Could've been worse."
Nooroo was right, it indeed could've been worse, and soon it was going to be very much worse when Gabriel would find out that his son had run away from home.
But for now the clueless man just took the elevator back up to his office where he stayed for most of the day, so it was only in the evening when he went to check-up on his son.
The whole mansion had been dead silent throughout the day so Gabriel was a little suspicious if Adrien was doing something illegal but he would've never imagined that he ran away.
So now as the designer stepped foot in the empty room he called out the teenager's name multiple times.
"Adrien? Adrien! ADRIEN?!"
Still no answer.
And it was in that moment that Gabriel realized his son was not home.
Little did he know that in fact Adrien was almost all the way out of the country and soon about to set foot in England, that would be when the kid could figure out which ferry to take.
