One hour later they were all sitting down in one of shield's planes, yet Naruto did his best to look at his new teammates. The word team was something odd to him, his last team were ones he would kill if he could. These people were ones that hated, one of them was named Sasuke. That old team member learned no one ever puts their hands on X-23.

He thought about of the days he told her simply sweet bedtime stories, the times he treated her kindly. She was the only one back then, that he would show his softer side, the side of him that was gone forever.

He noticed that one of his new teammates had still been glaring daggers at him, he just shrugged it off because it wasn't something he let bother him. If looks could bother him, he would have gone insane years ago.

Being glared at did remind him of how X-23 used glare at him for being late, she glare at him for lateness or not reading her any new stories. He always told her so much of outside world, always hoping one day she could see it for herself.

Naruto was suited up like his foster father Deadpool, he had almost same kind of suit yet his was orange and black. He had his mask off while having guns all over him from his back to his legs, with two katana on his back.

"Still mad about his breast remark? Just let it go and he has past with your family member, so try to see it from him. He's seeing someone he cared about being replaced, he's already been through hell in many ways." Black Widow told her in whispers.

Naruto could still hear but simply chosen to let it go, his mind slowly started to shut down in order to get some rest. It was going to be long ride till they got to the forests of their mission, to save someone being hunted down. They weren't told who was being hunted down by members of Hydra just that they would know when they found this person. Slowly he let his dreams take over, more like his past started to once haunt him like it always did.

Flashback started.

Naruto watched the two of them leave after all the clones in the pods were killed only, they couldn't let any of these clones waking up. These clones would simply be used like tools, weapons in the hands of madmen.

Naruto had simply told himself that this was more of merciful end to them than let them be turned into mindless killers. At the same time, part of him wished he had that kind of mercy placed on him before going down this path. The path that he did know was endless, that he would never see the peaceful side of life.

He slowly looked back at the guard rushing over to stop X-23 and the doctor Sarah. "Take care and goodbye my lover, farewell my old life." His last words before he rushed at the guards killing each one that had tried to get passed him, he refuse to let even one of them get by him.

His pride and heart had refused to let anyone of them get passed him because no one was going to stop her from the freedom she should have had since birth. He just kept clawing right through these guards that started to shoot at him, only he could care less about bullets from their guns because of his healing powers. It may have hurt him deeply, yet the feeling still was there yet his desire for her to live was stronger than the pain.

He also could not let himself look behind, to see her screaming for him. He couldn't block out her screams, but he did know if he looked back, he would fail her. He would fail to keep her safe, that would cost at least one of their freedoms. He just pushed on, fighting harder with weight slamming down on his chest.

"Woman just get her out of here already, I can't keep holding back." Tear came down his face, the so-called mindless weapon was shedding a tear.

When he finished the last one, he felt massive pain in his back only to look to see Kimura hitting him in the spine. She picked him up and slammed his back down on her knee only for him to yell out in pain with blood being thrown up. She then had thrown him into the wall before beating him over and over with very angry face, how she was pissed that she lost her punching bag due to him.

"If you thought all the things you had done before today were bad and how big body count you already had? Guess what asshole starting today you will live an endless nightmare and you kill till you do it in your sleep." She yelled still beating him because he caused her toy to gain her freedom.

"It's worth it all in the end because you can never hurt her again, eat that you damn fucking jealous bitch." He spit blood at her face.

He didn't care if he became nothing more than some mindless murder if it meant that X-23 had a future maybe even create her own family one day. Family was a strange word to the boy, something so familiar yet so unknown at the same time.

He did know without her, he would become nothing more than a killer, she was his light in this darkness of a world. He looked over at the doors, seeing the peaceful sky above. Freedom, he would never gain such things, nor would he know what heaven's gate looked like.

She was the light that kept the monster inside from taking over, the light that gave him hope that one day he could be something more than a killer. That light was running away without him, the one choice he had made to live in this darkness, so she could live in the light.

"The biggest and badness lies we ever will tell, are always the ones that we tell ourselves. These are the biggest lies that we will ever tell in our lives and the ones we can never believe because we know we are lying. Even so I love you X-23 and farewell. I know you'll hate me for breaking that promise too you, but I had to, so one day please forgive me." Another tear came rolling down his cheek while he was being beaten into.

"Live on, find your own place in this world, find your own family to love one day. Never look back or think of me, forget everything about me."

Flashback ended.

"Naruto!" He snapped out of it once he heard his name yelled.

"What is it?" Naruto shook his head, yet the past was killing him to the point it took few moments to even snap back to the real world.

"You were yelling in your sleep, yet you really need to talk to someone about this. You are having a kid soon and you need to learn to move on, it's hard and it's painful I know. You also know that I have been through my share of nightmares, so from a friend please you need to learn how to move on." Natasha stated.

"You keep running away from everything, is that it?" Ava cut in.

"You would run away from it too, my life? I wouldn't wish on even my most hated enemies, being nothing more than tool for killing without any freedom." Naruto fired back before closed his eyes.

He didn't bother to deal with either Ava or Patricia, his mind was elsewhere once more. He did know he had to get a hold on his past and dreams, one thing she was right about was that he was having a kid soon. The one thing he had known nothing about, being a father when he never truly had one in his life.

Hours passed by with the three women speaking, good part about him which annoyed him. He just stood up when they finally landed and he headed outside, he looked forward to the start of the forest. He did know whoever this was better me worth him going through all this annoying chitchat.

"I'll be heading on alone and you three try not to get killed, ok? Last thing I want to hear is any shit for letting anyone die during this mission." Naruto stated before heading deeper inside the forest.

"That man is too damn stubborn but either way we need to find this person, I'll yell at him later for this one." Widow stated before leading the group into the forest.

"Was his life really that hard?" Patricia asked.

"Yea, taken from his mother at young age then turned into killer against his will. That was after seeing his own mother killed in front of him, he always loses everything he cares about no matter how hard he tries to protect the ones he loves." Natasha stated before heading on.

"If this team's going to work, he needs to learn to work with us. No matter how strong he may think he is, no one can survive on their own." Ave pointed out.

"He can survive anything, even if bomb was dropped on his stubborn head."

Naruto just finished killing two of the hydra soldiers before sneaking to spy on the base, he wondered just what they were up to. He did notice two people right off the bat, these two he had known very well.

"Taskmaster and Crossbones? Why they hell are these bastards here." His thoughts were answered when he noticed woman walking over to them "Madama Hydra herself, if she's here this person really has a mark on their back."

Naruto moved his finger to the comm in his ear, he lightly tapped it. "You better hurry up, find that person before getting out of here. The main lady along with Taskmaster and Crossbones is here." Naruto stated back to her before sneaking around.

"Don't do anything foolish Naruto, we aren't leaving you here either." She warned him but it fell on died ears.

He took his Heckler and Koch submachine guns out before opening fire on the camp, hitting many of hydra's men along with few of men belonging to Crossbones.

"Never been good to listen to anyone, isn't that right X?" He kept shooting before dodging behind one of the tents. "Wonder what you are doing right now?" He thought before dropping his guns, pulling out his blades from his back.

On the other side of the world, a long black hair woman with green eyes had her claws deep inside another person. That person was Wolverine, wearing old his orange and black x men outfit.

"Let it all out, do what you have to do in order to let it all out!" He yelled while grabbing on to her arms.

"I will never let you go X! I'm not letting you go!"

"Laura! Remember just who you really are Petite, remember who loves you!" Another man yelled at her while grabbing her face.

Her eyes finally showed her coming back to normal, she just looked over at Wolverine.

"I'm...sorry, I didn't mean to."

"Shh, it's ok darling. I'm here, we are all here for you. You are never alone anymore, you have us now beside you." He stopped her before hugging her close to his chest.

Jubilee and Gambit just stand there, watching the scene in front of them. It was almost like father and daughter moment if you could call almost killing your father a moment. Then again this was wolverine they were talking about.

Back with Naruto who was stabbing one member of hydra after the other while blocking or cutting bullets in half. His skills with his blades were on the same level as his foster father Deadpool.

Before long he had found himself out of ammo, with both Taskmaster and Crossbones corning him, he did know both were very skill in their trade. He also did know he wouldn't fail to keep black safe and sound, he looked at them before his eyes moved to his blades that were on the ground.

"You are unarmed, so give up Naruto don't make me send you to your grave. It's far too soon for me to send you to meet Copycat, in the afterlife." Taskmaster told him, yet his voice showed he wasn't trying to insult him.

Copycat had been killed by Sabretooth, yet it was the day he lost his second mother. The was also day his family was once more broken, he just looked over at the man.

"I'm never unarmed." With these words his claws came out, causing both men to step backwards away from him.

Three grenades moved over to them, he dodged but the blast still hit him hard. Thanks to his metal bones he didn't die but skin was gone, slowly healing it back. He moved away from the camp while the others started looking for him.

He kissed his teeth in pain, he couldn't believe he forget about the damn woman like that, yet he hoped he got his team enough time. He looked at his bleeding side, he wished his healing powers heal faster than that.

Once his body was healed, he killed any of the hydra members that were still following him. He looked down at their bodies before looking at his claws, no matter how many times he killed with these claws. He never could stop thinking of the day they made him into what he was, the memories were like daggers in his mind.

"It's funny you said that I no longer must kill. It seems you are wrong, because I must kill in order to keep everyone safe." Naruto rushed on to find his team.

When he found his team, he couldn't believe who this person they had to find was. His hands turned into fists while he kissed his teeth, they were here to save that woman, of all the choices she had to be the one.

Naruto was looking at what seemed to be a woman with long black hair and blue eyes, she was one called Silver Fox. Naruto just glared at her, walking over to them before they turned to face him, confused by his anger.

"We are here to save her, ex member of weapon x along with the fact she was once the leader of Hydra. She's the one that they want to die so badly, I should have figured it was someone this big with how much they have with them." Naruto stated to them.

"Now isn't the time to fight about this, we have our orders." Natasha told him.

"You got her out of her along with these two, they won't be able to handle this at same time to get out if they stay here to hold the line." Naruto turned his back on them.

"We are a team! What don't you understand about that?" Ave yelled at him.

"I already lost one white tiger, if you stay you will die. You are no killer, yet you are no murder, and this is going be bloody fight." He looked over his shoulder. "If, we are a team? Then listen and pick your fights better, this is one you can't help with only slow me down."

He rushed forward to the incoming enemies, he looked back to see Black Widow pushing them away. He did know he was harsh on them, yet he also had known it was the only way, to get them out of here.

He noticed one had his gun aimed down for Ave's back, he moved to take the shot to the chest before still standing. His eyes showed rage, he moved to cut the man's arm off before stabbing him in the chest.

"That fool..." Ave stated while leaving with the group, she could hear what happened with her ears and what he did for her.

Naruto kept the enemy busy dealing with him before falling back, blood coming out of his body in many areas. He did know that even with his healing powers, pain could still cause him to pass out.

"If you're not die, you are a damn stubborn bastard and you better still be alive, head to the cliff northeast of where you were." He could hear voice, yet he could tell she was worried.

He rushed to the cliff the best he could, he looked back to see Taskmaster looking at him, he wondered what he would do. He did know his foster family had long history with that man, he just hoped he would let him go.

Once he arrived at the cliff, he heard strong of something flying fast over to him, before he could even look back, he felt something hit his back. Once, the object had hit him, it quickly exploded sending him off the cliff.

While falling he got lucky and landed on the top of their ride, he slowly rolled in pain to try to get to the back of the jet. Once he was there, he let himself fall before he grabbed on to the open back of the jet, his strength slowly slipping away due to his back bleeding massive.

"We got you!" Ave yelled before grabbing his arm along with Patricia grabbed the other.

Both still had hard time pulling him inside due to the weight of his metal bones, once they did get him in, they started panting for air. They couldn't believe just how much he weighted due to the fact he looked so thin.

"Seems you take after your father, hard to kill and stubborn to die?" Silver fox joking stated to him.

"Just shut the hell up and wake me when we get back." Naruto let the darkness take him.

When they landed Widow started to shake him, he just looked up over at her, but he could tell she wasn't happy. He never liked seeing either her or Tigra with looks like that, yet he did know that life wasn't always simple enough to avoid it.

"I'll fill in the report, you got new set of clothes before going home. So, simply follow me, Naruto you aren't alone on this team anymore. So please, don't forget that again." She said, last part softly with sadness showing.

Naruto fallowed and got changed, didn't bother to wait till she left the room. It wasn't anything she didn't see before, yet they had seen each other naked many times over the few years.

He looked at the mirror then down at the sink that still had blood running down the drain, he wondered if there would be a day. A day he could stop washing blood away, a day where he could look in the mirror and see a person not a monster. The day where the regret and guilty feeling would go away, that it would stop eating away at his heart and soul.

"Soul, I forget I already sold that damn thing away.' He gave small laugh before he just looked at the mirror then started leaving the room.

On his way home he stopped to get bottle of whiskey, once he arrived home, he started to drink it in the kitchen. Didn't even bother to get any glass, just lost in his thoughts while drinking. He didn't know what truly meant to be a team player, he didn't want her to be sad every time he went on these missions with her.

With his free hand, he made a small ball of fire. He looked down at it, the flames he could always make since he was born. Power, he showed no one, only ones that got to see it never lived to tell anyone. Slowly the flames started to burn his skin but he made it go away once he heard footsteps.

"Come to bed, I missed you." Tigra came outnof the bedroom bare to the world.

He just looked over at her, the person that was the soon be mother of his kid. The person that had been doing her best to help him, if she had only known the horrors that he had done. Would she still be there with him, or would she run away from him?

"Tomorrow morning I'm going to be having breakfast with Jean and the girls, so let me enjoy the night with you." She joked before she kissed him.

He just followed her, leaving the bottle on the table. He didn't understand her at all. He did know he would keep being here till he could anymore, sooner or later he loses everything he cares about.

Dreams started, there was room with a large bed. One boy sitting on the edge, talking to a doctor like any other day. "You do know that in order to get her free from here, you will have to stay and fight right? The guards will catch us if we all try to leave together, you do realize this is your only shot at freedom Naruto?" Doctor asked him.

"I know, but I also know you finally see her as your own daughter. So, get her out of here and give her a name already. She can't always be called X-23, give her a real name, a real family far away from here. She deserves all of that, and more." Naruto stated to her.

He looked over at her naked body, taking in every inch of her like he did before she went to asleep. He had taken so long to memorizing ever single inch of her face, just like he was doing from her back. This would be the last night he could spend with her, after this he may never see her again.

"She made this for you, it's a golden locket with her photo in it, let it keep you from losing yourself in this hell." The doctor Sarah Kinney had told him with few tears coming down her eyes.

She handed him the lock before she looked over at him, she just couldn't believe that these people could do these things to them. She did know before she was just like them, she thought she was doing good for the world with these tests. She finally realized just how much of monster they are and how much she had done wrong. She wanted to give both better lives, yet she could only try to give one a better life.

"You also deserve better life, yet you are willing to give it all up for her."

"She'll hate me for breaking the promise to her, but she can still be saved. Her soul is still there, and she still can save it, she still has chance for making real family. I have killed too much, yet I have killed too many innocents to be given that kind of life. So, if damning what's left of my soul will save her soul, then devil come get it." He placed locket around his neck.

Neither of them realized that she was awake the whole time, tears coming down her face as she silently cried. She was going to lose the person she loved, to lose him just so she could survive and gain her freedom.

"I love you, my light in this darkness, may you find your own light that guides you home. Home where you can be someone's light, to bring you happiness of your own."

Sarah left the room, leaving the two lovers along for one last time.

X-23 woke up yelling, she looked around to see no one else in the room. She looked down at her hands, she couldn't believe she had that dream. "I haven't dreamed of you in years Naruto, you left me all along." Tears came down her face before she got up.

She moved to the window of the hotel, looking outside to see it was still nighttime. She slowly thought about to what Logan had told her.

"Fill your heart with better memories, better actions, better friends that's all that we can do Darling. That's only way any of else can keep moving forward, can't change the past but can move forward."

She moved her hands to the cold window, crying even harder because she couldn't believe he was gone. "Damn you, why did you do it for me? I just hope after saving me that you gain your freedom or are in better place Naruto, I still love you."'

It had been four years since she got free, she just turned nineteen. She never wanted to let him go, she wanted him to stay with her forever. She killed the doctor in a fit of rage due to the killing scent/gas that they made to cause her to enrage her. She never got the family or life he wanted her, she didn't know if he did save her soul or not in the end.

All she did know was that she had family now, she was going move forward with them. They would be her light, the light to stay away from killing, to be someone far better than she was in the past.

"Farwell Naruto, my true love, thank you for saving me." She cried one last tear before going back to bed.

For Naruto he was having hardest time even sleeping, past kept clawing at him like it always done. His mother words, X-23 face, all of it haunted him to no end.

"Ashes to ashes, you will never know what touch of death is, my son. Endless cycle of rebirth is what awaits you, forgive me please for what have placed on you. This burden of endless, this burden of hardship." She whispered to him, standing beside what looked to be a statue made of gems.

This gem state was in the form of a large bird, a bird known as a phoenix. She looked up at the state with pure regret and sad, she looked down at the baby born in her hands. She simply wished he would have better fate in this world, yet she was the one that sealed his fate before he was even born.
