The group find a hostile Akamaru barking at them with Kiba appearing. When they ask him what's wrong with Akamaru, Kiba arrives proclaiming that Akamaru smells enemies, including them. They deduce he's under the strange jutsu and attacks them. However, Gaara elects to fight.

"I don't usually fight weaker opponents now, but I'll make an exception."

"Prepare yourself Gaara. You've never been an ally before and I'll defeat you since Sasuke couldn't!"

Gaara saw Naruto's face hurting from Kiba's words, and reassures his decision to fight this one alone.

"We may be comrades now, but as the saying goes, if you choose to fight me, you'll end up another dog that's all bark and no bite."

"You may be strong Gaara, but you're fighting the next Hokage."

"Interesting. I'm fighting you, not Naruto."

Kiba growls. "Don't toy with me Gaara. You're strong but you don't have what it takes to be a Kage. Naruto, I admit you got the better of me, but I'm not giving up until I beat you and become the next Hokage. I'll save the village from both of you."

"Kiba, come on, don't do this," Naruto yelled.

Kakashi speaks up. "So this strange jutsu they're under retains one's personality while altering their perception to see their allies as adversaries. And if Choji could activate...oh no. Gaara, be careful. This jutsu might amplify the victims abilities and chakra levels."

"Got it." Kiba charges at him repeating with a barrage of claw slashes enhanced with chakra, but Gaara's sand from his gourd automatically projected, creating a puddle of spikes that forces Kiba to retreat via backsteps and flips far away in the the courtyard. Akamaru appears in front of them looking slightly bigger than usual as Kiba performs the Beast Mimicry with his partner. With two Kibas emerging out of the smoke, Gaara remises of the feral looking boy's battle with Naruto in the Chunin Exams.

"Let's Go Akamaru! Fang Over Fang". As the two begin jumping over one another, they leap booming powerful drill like beings targeting Gaara. Gaara summons a ton of sand from the ground to attack as miniature geysers to stop Kiba, only for the Inuzaka clan members to dodge through consecutive rising blasts of sand like it was nothing. Impressed, Gaara decided to stop holding back and from his gourd and the sand geysers, grew a massive sphere of sand in front of and behind him, as Gaara opens up his hands.

"Gaara, wait!"

"Don't worry Naruto. This will restrain him. I'll never aim to slaughter like I did before. Now, Sand Coffin!" 

Gaara's sand converges and collapses Kiba and Akamaru-Kiba inside. Gaara breathes, only slightly applying pressure to ensure Kiba's body remains intact. Then, two sudden forces of nature blaze out of his sand, quickly forcing Gaara to use the remaining sand to block the Fang Over Fang. Gaara flies into the air as he notices more civilians around, directing Naruto and Kakashi to evacuate the nearby area. However, Kiba and Akamaru still chase after him while using Fang over Fang. With his Sand Levitation, Gaara gains higher flight in the air to avoid them.

"Fine mutt. Play some more in the sand. Sand Shower!"

He fires off a barrage of sand like projectiles at Kiba and Akamaru only for the both of them to plough through and bounce projectile off projectile with their already incredible agility enhancing each of their jumps before reaching Gaara. Gaara coats himself in Sand Armor, but Kiba and Akamaru-Kiba slash at him, smashing him upwards into the area attack after attack. Both charge at the Sand Ninja with a Tunneling Fang but Gaara creates a massive sphere of sand to coat himself in, secretly using his third eye to see their movements, with their attacks suddenly having no effect on him.

"That's how you wanna play Gaara? Fine then!"

From his third eye, he sees Kiba and Akamaru rise above him, transforming into a gigantic Two Headed Wolf, and descend with Wolf Fang over Fang: turning themselves into a massive drill. Gaara summons a massive amount of Sand through Sand Tsunami to attack him, but they drill right through it. Gaara sees them biting through his sand slowly, impressed.

He summons all the sand for his Ultimate Shield: Shukaku's Shield attack to cushion him as they fall closer to the ground while cracks in the armor begin to show. Eventually, he lifts his hands in the arm, forming massive chakra around him as sand starts to emerge in his hands, just as the cracks open to show him and the Two Headed Wolf staring at each other with a drive to end the fight now.

"Fang of the Hidden Leaf, remind me of your name."

"Kiba Inuzaka! I'll defend the Hidden Leaf with my life."

"Kankuro mentioned someone like you came close to defeating one of Orochimaru's elites."

He forms the Extreme Tempered Ultimate Attack: Shukaku's Pike in his hands and stabs the Two Headed Wolf in the abdomen, breaking the transformation and an injured Akamaru and Kiba wail out of their transformation. With Akamaru finding difficulty to stand, Gaara lifts himself back up, restrains Kiba with his sand, and infuses sand into his hands, delivering a slap to Kiba's face with the Release kanji.

"I will not forget your name."

When Naruto and Kakashi return, they see Gaara petting Akamaru and tending to the dog's wounds as Kiba wakes up.

"What happened?"

"You were under a strange jutsu that appears to turn friends into foe. I fought you to release you from that torment."

"And you didn't kill me? Wow, Gaara, thanks."

"Defeating without killing, a goal I've now seek in combat." He looks over to Naruto. "Yesterday's enemy can't be today's ally if we consume nothing but bloodshed."

"Anyways, Kiba, you're not the only one. If this is affecting the village, going to the medical facilities may not be the right option. Let Tsunade know what's going on and we'll be in pursuit of that rogue ninja."

"You got it Kakashi sensei. Come on Akamaru, let's go."

The ninja and ninja hound leave as Naruto, Kakashi, and Gaara search for the rogue ninja causing all of this.
