Reading In Between The Lines

Am I the only one who looks for a definition in the characters lines when watching a show, a movie, reading, manga, etc.? Well if you don't and you're a Naruhina Shipper, then you're in luck!

Invisible Force: Intro Time!

~Welcome fellow shipper!
To Naruhina Talk!
We like to make things clearer!
And smile while we're at it!~

Get ready for (what I hope will be) an emotional roller coaster, because we are about to dig deep into this and look at perspectives you may have never seen coming. During many Naruhina moments the characters say and do things that may only be visible to the Byakugan or a viewer who's really paying attention.

And that's the theme of some of the first discussion on Naruhina Talk. I hope you enjoy. I felt it was good to start with this because it may get you excited.

I mentioned before (see I'm already analyzing what I've written) that in some Naruhina moments things can go by you and you don't even notice! You just miss them completely or have no idea you had to look. But I will be focusing more on The Last: Naruto The Movie, not because it's the movie where Naruhina became canon, but because it's the first Naruto movie that's canon and we can get all those sweet canon details.

Before I begin I'd like to get a few things through.

A. Spoiler Alert

B. If you haven't watched The Last: Naruto The Movie.... GET ON THAT!!!! But if you haven't watched it, you might have too to understand.

C. If you already know all of the things I'll be pointing out then.... GOOD FOR YOU!!!! But in all seriousness if know these you can leave.

Anywaaay, let's start of.

1. If you haven't read The Last: Naruto The Light Novel yet, or you just can't read Japanese (don't worry I can't either) well, remember that one moment after Naruto is awakened by the Genjutsu? When they were making their way to the second spring, Naruto had something on his mind, but what? And then he looks at Hinata for a brief moment. Well in the light novel this is what Naruto thinks at that moment:

Why is this important? Because now you don't have to get the novel to know what he was thinking at the time! Yaaay. But look at the last thing he thinks 'And so about Hinata, does that mean that I also...', DOT DOT DOT!!! Is anyone else getting Mama Mia flashbacks? What does that '...' mean, let me tell you, at first glance you think that it was used to cover up 'feel the same' or something in that region. But I'm here to look deeper, it can also mean that he just finished his sentence and stopped talking and the '...' was added for effect. I know, not as cheery, but I'm not done. The effect of the '...' is to show emotion, maybe love. He knows what because he said it in his mind, we just missed it.

2. A little after that, once Naruto was in the spring he swam, but later, he noticed that Hinata wasn't following behind him. How? I had an idea, but then I thought it was too repetitive. So I went back to the scene and, lord and behold, I was wrong, but I then thought of something else. Here's what I came up with, the reason why he found out that Hinata was not behind him was because it was his job. It was an extra mission he had, watch over Hinata, since she too was on the wanted list. He was paying attention so that when she would jump in, he would hear the splash. But since he didn't. He turned to check on his beloved.

3. Now, when Naruto sees Hinta knitting the third scarf, he decides to take off the one that his mother made for him. Why? You probably thought it was so she would feel encouraged to give him the scarf she's knitting. You wouldn't be wrong, but I'm trying to show you another perspective. Well, when I thought about it, I thought maybe we should consider the dead. Or more specifically, Kushina, Naruto's mother. Think about it, it must've been hard for Naruto to take it off, it's the one material thing he has that reminds him of his late mother. And yet he did, because Naruto knows that his mother would be furious if he took a present that the girl that has loved him since her infancy for granted. And he knows his mother would be right.

Even so, I believe he wanted Hinata to give him the scarf, how could he not. All his life he's been alone and no one has ever really given him something to show their feelings other than, say it with me, Minato (trust), Kushina (The scarf she made), Jiraiya (the popsicles), and Hinata (the scarfs and their two children). Not only did Naruto open a door for Hinata to give him the scarf and to make her dream of walking beside him forever by taking off the scarf, but he also opened that door happily and a little eagerly.

4. If you ever see me in the comments of a book, you may know that sometimes I say some weird things. Isn't that right Invi?

Invisible Force: Yup, I should know. She listens to Blink-182 and Angels and Airwaves, and she's picked up a lot of things.

And one of these things is 'Lover's Reaction'. What is a 'Lover's Reaction'? A 'Lover's Reaction' is an instant movement or line that a lover manifests when triggered to. In The Last: Naruto The Movie, there is one. When Hinata leads the rescue team to the Ōtsutsuki crypt, one of the buried men comes back to life for a moment and gives Hinata a message. But for her to receive the message she needed to be unconscious. And when she fell, HOLY MOTHER OF REACTIONS, Naruto, through the power of 'Lover's Reactions' caught her.

5. Okay, maybe what you've seen so far wasn't too exiting, but TRUST ME when I say, this one hit me hard. I felt a wave of the feels when I realized this. Remember when (and I'm sorry for making you remember so many things) Naruto was falling after the explosion, while Toneri put Hinata into a slumber, Naruto was helplessly falling down as the scarf Hinata gave him burned in his hand. Well, just before he falls unconscious, he says "Hinata". If you didn't realize this, Naruto didn't say her name............

he called out to her.

Just think, most of his chakra was syphoned off, and was in the middle (literally) of an explosion of his own chakra, he suffered a lot of damage. He must've been really weak. He couldn't yell even if he wanted to and I bet he did want to. I believe that Naruto was trying to yell Hinata's name, at that point he wanted to get her back even if she left him willingly. And at that moment all he could do was call out to the woman he loves in a whisper. A whisper what could have been a scream if had the energy to do so. And it's the same when he wakes up three days later. The last vision he saw was Hinata saying goodbye and leaving with Toneri and when he whisper/screamed her name, that was the last memory he had, that vision must've made him believe he was still there and had a slight chance of stopping her. No wonder he called out her name in a scream when he woke up, and trust me when I say I've seen cases like that.

6. A little after he wakes up, Shikamaru is trying to understand what happened between Naruto and Hinata, but because Naruto hasn't recovered from the rejection he got from Hinata he just lied back down, his back facing Shikamaru and Sai. A few weeks ago, I made a fascinating discovery.

I want you to look at this picture. Comment what you think I'm going to say.

Did you look? Did you comment? You probably have no idea what I'm going to say. Don't blame ya, it's pretty hard to notice. So I'll give you a hint.

Do you see it now? Well, if you look really closely at his eyes, you can see that he was looking to the..... right! He was looking to the right!!! Isn't that just heart breaking?! Now, I'll take a guess and say you're looking at the picture after you saw the 'looking to the right thing' and trying to find out what's so mind boggling. What's so special about him looking to the right? Is it because he just wants Shikamaru and Sai to leave him alone? You're confusing me! Calm down, all shall be revealed.

The reason why I'm telling you that it's sad that Naruto was constantly looking to the right when Hinata is mentioned after he woke up lies in the mind of an investigator or a fan of cop shows. I would be a fan. Some of you might know that when asked a question, answering something, under deep emotion, or lying down (Naruto went through all of these) our eyes tend to move, indicating what we might be doing. But what does looking to the right mean? It means your recalling a memory.

Now that I think about it, I may be wrong. I looked up online and it says that when you look to the right you're most likely lying..... BUT THIS IS EMOTIONS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!! Estimating what he's gone through it's most likely that he's recalling memories of him and Hinata. Maybe the happy moments, the sad moments. I don't know, but whatever it is, he's depressed about it.
