Arjun, Ashwatthama, Kritvarma and Uloopi were seated in a quite room discussing their next strategy about Kaashtabha Ratna.
After a long series of discussion, they came to conclusion, "We will give each minister an alluring gem, telling them that it's Kaashtabha Ratna for them to keep it safe guard. And their real intentions will be revealed when they have the gem in their hand." Arjun said, finalizing the plan.
The others nodded.
Arjun called each minister and handed them a fake Kaashtabha Ratna, stating that only they could protect it.
The next day, seven such greedy ministers were caught, trying to leave Indraprasth in the middle of night with their respective 'Kaashtabha Ratnas'
"Why would you do so?" Kritvarma angrily spat, "Our home was a hell which turned into heaven by the grace of Maharaj Arjun, and you chose to betray him only?"
The seven men who were kneeling bowed, "we are sorry, please forgive us."
Drauni rose from his seat and commented, "You betrayed the trust of Indraprasth, and trust is glass, once broken can never be repaired."
That was the truth, how could anyone ever trust these men who choose wealth over Mother Nation?
"I agree with Mahamahim Ashwatthama, your crimes are worthy of heavy punishment." Arjun stood up and spoke in his regal stance.
"Maharaj, I have a sugesstion," Nayantara spoke. Arjun nodded and gestured her to speak.
"The soil which is spoiled must be separated from the good soil. Punishment for such crime can be only one; Banishment."
"I agree with Rani Nayantara's suggestion." One of ministers spoke in support. A few others nodded in agreement.
Prakhar, one of the ministers caught for treachery chuckled, "We are the spoilt soil now?" but his eyes were blazing with fire of rage.
"You are banished from Indraprasth, and if you, at anytime in future even glance at Indraprasth, your head will be separated from your body before you could say Indraprasth." Arjun gave his verdict
"Maharaj, we will accept this banishment, but I have a question before." Prakhar asked, "You gave all of us a gem to test our loyalty, but what about Kritvarma? Why did you not test him? Is it that you are partial towards him?"
Arjun glared at the man, "It is because I trust him more. You all came to me when I had won, but he came to me in my fight."
Prakhar paled, while all the current ministers were watching Arjun fight Takshak, only Kritvarma and Satyaki had guts to go and fight for him, an unknown man.
"But- he was same as us, I want to see you test him or I will know that are you are not an impartial King." Prakhar said.
"I have nothing to prove to you Prakhar, but still I will show you Kritvarma's loyalty. Only so that there shall not remain an stain of disloyalty on Kritvarma's pure character." Arjun spoke, giving him a harsh look.
"When Diwakar was caught, Kritvarma bought him back from Kurki.
On the way, Diwakar confessed to be the killer of Satyaki and backstabbing him.
Diwakar also spoke indignantly about Kritvarma's mother, and family.
Yet, Kritvarma controlled his anger and bought him back.
Because only Diwakar knew the truth and his life was needed for the betterment of Indraprasth.
A man can control his lust for wealth, but to control a burning desire of vengeance, to keep the killer of your family safe is most difficult.
Kritvarma did that; I doubt there we need any more proof of his loyalty."
Everyone in the court praised Kritvarma after hearing the truth from Arjun. Kritvarma, not knowing how to handle the compliments merely nodded.
"Prakhar, loyalty is virtue only loyal people can see, thus you still might not believe this and call up some excuses on this. There is nothing that could porve to you Kritvarma's loyalty.
After all, we see the world with our eyes, and we see what we are.
You being a disloyal person wouldn't see his undying fidelity. Soldiers, take them out," Arjun ordered.
The soldiers took the seven out.
Brihatkshya carefully observed Arjun, he took his wife's suggestion, he considered his ministers words, and only when he had analyzed everything, he gave out a verdict.
Avadh Kumar noticed that only the seven were kicked out, but their assets were divided, half to their families and half to the nation, their families weren't considered nobility anymore but Arjun opened some options for them to earn money and live well.
'Perhaps, the dream of Ram Rajya is possible,' Brihatkshya thought in his mind.
From what he had seen, even if it was for a day, it was enough for him to know that Arjun was a perfect King.
"Maharaj, I have a question, if you could answer, then I would be in gratitude," Brihatkshya stood up in front the entire sabha and looked at Arjun.
"Ask Yuvraj Brihatkshya," Arjun spoke formally.
"If one has power, strength and courage to protect the weak, should one do it?" Ayodhya's Prince questioned.
A few ministers chuckled at the simplicity of the question, while a few wondered was there any ulterior motive of Brihatkshya?
"Yes, if you have strength then you must." Arjun replied, confused at his brother-in-law's question.
"Maharaj, you are the slayer of Takshak, you single-handedly defeated the undefeatable Nivatakavacha Army, you won against Jarasandh in a political war.
Thus I qualify you as powerful, strong and courageous.
Then, it is your duty to protect the weak right?"
Arjun simple stared and replied, "I believe so."
"Then why aren't you?" Brihatkshya asked straight forwadly.
"What do you mean?" Uloopi raised her eye brow, "Do you think that Maharaj is incompetent?"
"I did not say that, but the weak people outside Indraprasth are suffering, and Maharaj being powerful, strong and courageous still did not protect them." Brihatkshya answered.
"But, that is the duty of their Kings, how can I interfere in their matters?" Arjun asked.
Even though he did not like people being harassed, how could he interfere between other King's work?
"Then you can make it your matter." Brihatkshya had a calm smile on his face.
Everyone in the court were stunned, what did Brihatkshya mean?
Brihatkshya, sensing their confusion and spoke, "Make the eir Kingdoms yours Maharaj, free the people of Aryavart like you did for Khandava."
"Wars? More people will suffer than they would be free." Arjun replied, it indeed was a valid point.
What was use of saving people when half of them would be dead?
"You have already defeated Jarasandh, annihilated Nivatakavacha Army;
In the entire Aryavart, there is no fool who would raise their weapons against you." He answered.
"But why should I even try to win Kingdoms? I do not wish for more territory. I am not power-hungry Brihatkshya." Arjun answered.
Ashwatthama smiled, he understood the gist of Brihatkshya's words, but realized none of member's of Indraprasth's court understood.
Drauni smiled at their selfless nature, they did not get the whole idea of Brihatkshya.
"O Prince of Raghukul, you seem to have confused Maharaj with your words, be clear." Drauni gave a nod to Brihatkshya who nodded back.
"Maharaj Arjun, as a King, you can only help Indraprasth, as a Samrat, you can help the entire mankind.
I believe that it is time when Akhand Aryavart is united under one empire, with you as it's emperor." Brihatkshya's words shocked everyone.
