Kim's POV

I smiled happily, waking up to the sun shining on y face through the window. I turned over to see Duncan sleeping on his bed with was about a foot away from mine. I wish it was right next to mine.

WHOAH... Where did that come from? I can't like Duncan... Can I? A crazy scientist, that makes me laugh, and is comforting, and helps me deal with the flux, and is very caring towards me... At least.

To be quite honest, he really does seem to care for me a lot. I'm sure he's never done these things for Simon, or Lewis. Then again, they aren't infected with flux, or a girl... Wait... Could Duncan like me?

No... Yeh... Maybe? I mean it does make sense. As if on cue, I heard Duncan mumbling in his sleep.

"Kim... Kim wait... I lov-" he started but I cut him off by screaming.

"DUNCAN! DUNCAN," I yelled, then closed my eyes pretending to be asleep.

I heard shuffling," Huh! Kim?" I began mumbling his name, acting like I was shouting for him.

I suddenly felt his hand on my cheek, it felt so warm. He cupped my cheek, then put his other hand on my shoulder,"Kim? Kim? Are you having a dream?" I slowly sat up, faking like I just woke up.

I looked at the position we were in. Duncan's large, and tough hand was cupping my soft delicate cheek. His other hand was holding my shoulder firmly, but comforting.

We locked eyes for a moment, and then suddenly he pulled back, falling backwards and hitting his head. "Ow," he whined, slowly sitting up. "I am... Uh sorry bout that," he said with a smile. His cheeks were flushed red, but mine probably were too.

"It's cool," I murmured quietly.

"We should go set up that quarry today," he smiled at me. I nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, do we have everything," I asked, getting up from my bed and stretching my arms.

"I need to make some wind turbines and power cables, but you can go on ahead. It'll take my five minutes at the most," he shrugged, standing up himself and heading downstairs.

The second he walked down I plopped into my bed, pushing my face into the pillow and squealing. Kim... You got it bad.

I jumped into the portal, and the second the dark trees of the twilight forest came into sight, the familiar, but dreaded, sound of none other but the Mana Creeper could be heard.

The explosion sent me flying through the air, landing on the floor a few feet away. I groaned in pain, and when I turned around I gasped... The portal was exploded.

"DUNCAN! DUNCAN," I screamed. Im trapped here, I'll never see Duncan again. I leaned against a tree as tears began forming in my eyes. I was panicking, although I new Duncan wouldn't he would stay calm... But then again he is Duncan.

He can handle himself, knows how to get himself out of situations. He protects me, my confused self. I can't craft much, and don't know much. I'm screwed.

Then that's when I heard a familiar voice,"Kim?" It was soft.

"Duncan," I squealed running up and jumping into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him, resulting in him stumbling backwards and falling against a tree.

"Kim, what's wrong," he asked. His eyes were full of concern and worry.

"I-I thought I was trapped. The portal got exploded," I whispered.

"Oh, well only the one here, another one spawned nearby... Since the one back at home is still intact," he smiled sheepishly. That's Duncan, knows everything.

I froze, realizing our faces were inches from each others, and our bodies were pushed up against each other. I stared right into his eyes, and he stared into mine. I began to pull away,"Sor-"

I was cut off by his lips pressed firmly against mine.
