"You have to believe me!" I exclaimed. "The world is after me."

My friend chuckled. "You're joking, aren't you?"

Suddenly, a bird flew over my head and pooped on my shoulder.

"See?! See?!"

"You're just having a bad day." My friend shrugged.

"No! I'm serious! It's after m--"  Something squished under my foot. I looked down and realized that my foot was plunged into wet cement.

"Noooo! These were my favorite shoes!" I cried.

My friend bursted into laughter.
