“Off to battle,” the girl shouted, grinning fiercely.

The boy's hand on her shoulder stayed her. “I better not see ye in the healer's tent againe.” his mouth smiling but his eyes serious.

“Ach, don't ye worry 'bout me! I've been in more dangerous situations before,” she assured him.

Paying no heed to her lighthearted dismissal, his mouth became a grim line. “Should ye die…”

She tossed her red locks in defiance. “Then I'll see ye in the After, yea?”

The boy gave a sharp nod, gazing after her retreating form with an odd look of acceptance on his face.

Another wonderfully written Nanobite from a talented author.
Such a powerful take on sacrifice and death! I really love the hopeful messages she conveys. Death is not the end. Love lasts forever. And dare I say, this reads like a prequel to the first Nanobite TheRegularRavenclaw  submitted. It really has a very similar theme..
