Maya stood up placing the letters on the stool and straightened her Sari. She wiped the few traitorous tears off her cheeks and sat back down. It had been so many years since she recalled the events of 1971, the year that her life changed forever. She turned her head, there was the sound of thumping coming up the stairs.

"Ammu what are you doing here?"

Maya made sure she had no tears on her face before she looked at her daughter, "Sharmin you're home so early"

Naila climbed up the stairs behind her mom, when she saw her Nani she ran to her.

"Nani's, what's all this?" She said pointing to the letters.

Maya pulled her granddaughter onto her lap, "These are Nani's Letters"
