About Juan: Was studying Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech. He loved music, was in a family band (Played the timbales), and loved track and field. He left behind his wife.

About Minal: Masters student in Building Sciences, wanted to be an architect. She enjoyed reading Harry Potter and playing cricket. She loved eating Indian and Chinese Cuisines.
Daniel Alejandro Perez Cueva, 21
Daniel Cueva was hardworking and determined. He was interested in many things, including singing, repairing things around the house, swimming, and many others. More than anything, he wanted to bring peace to the world.
Erin Nicole Peterson, 18
Her family considered her to be an angel. In addition to being smart and kind, she excelled at playing basketball. Erin was very faithfully religious and participated in an organization dedicated to empowering young minority girls.
Michael Steven Pohle, Jr., 23
An overachiever, participating in a variety of sports as well as playing music and excelling in school. He helped anyone who needed it and loved being part of a team.
Julia Kathleen Pryde, 23
About Julia: Graduate student in Biological Systems Engineering, Participant in a non-profit group dealing with Ecology issues (SEED) *Seek Education, Explore, Discover*. She was on the swim team.
Mary Karen Read, 19
About Mary: Majoring in interdisciplinary studies. The President of the High School band, played lacrosse, was doing color guard.
Reema Joseph Samaha, 18
Family and friends say that she always managed to light up the room. She also had a passion for acting and performing.
Waleed Mohamed Shaalan, 32
He left behind his wife and their baby son in Egypt. He had recently purchased plane tickets to bring them over the America to be with him while he finished his education. The young man died before he got to reunite with them.
Leslie Geraldine Sherman, 20
She excelled at anything she put her mind to and dreamed of exploring the world. Leslie always helped those less fortunate and spent much of her free time volunteering. Running marathons was another of her interests. After graduation, she wanted to join the Peace Corps.
Maxine Shelly Turner, 22
Extraordinarily talented, Maxine excelled at everything, from Tae Kwon Do to schoolwork. She loved her family, chemical engineering, and the importance of female engineers.
Nicole Regina White, 20
She left behind her brother and her grieving parents. She loved working with children. Impressively she volunteered her time helping others.
That's a lot of people that no one is every going to see smile again. It's a lot of people who died bravely and mostly without a choice. That's a ton of beautiful angels.
