Travelers - Sophie

Authors Note:
This is kinda based off something I saw on tumblr. I forgot to save the pictures that went along with the prompt but you know... Oh well. If I find them, I'll add them. Enjoy!

After Lucy got out of college, she devoted the rest of her young adult life to exploring the world. To places close and far from her home on the Heartfilia estate, and to places she has already been as a child but wanted to see again.

The world had always seemed so big to her. She felt as if there was never something to miss and that there was always something new to see. She loved everything from the wilderness to grand cities. But there was one thing missing, a friend to travel with.

She thought about getting a dog. She even had a name planned out for it, but she knew that most places didn't accept pets so she had to let the idea go.

And so the blonde beauty was lonely. Her travels became slower and duller. There was no one for her to share her journeys and thoughts with. All her friends from college were off starting families and getting jobs. And she was just here alone in a foreign country. Imdepent, lonely, alone, isolated, fenced in... Lucy Heartfilia.

"Hold on hold on I'm here!" Lucy waved her train tickets in the air at the conductor who was just about to board the train. Fortunatly he noticed her and nodded to the open door where a young lady stood to stamp everyone's tickets. Lucy sighed with relief and thanked the conductor as she too, boarded the train after him. The lady stamped the glossy paper in her hands and pointed to a seat in the back. "Enjoy the trip." She sang, closing the door after the blonde entered.

Lucy inhaled deeply and started to walk down the aisle to her seat. She calmly sat down, glancing towards the boy who sat across from her. He looked back quickly but returned to staring out the window.

A strange looking boy he was in fact. Not in a bad way, but the way that his hair was pink and how his eyes were a distinct mix of green and grey that you wouldn't normally see on a person. Lucy couldn't take her eyes off him as she gripped her back pack to her chest.

"Is there something on my face?" He spoke up, starling the poor girl. She yelped and bowed in apology.

"N-no I'm sorry, I just zoned out I guess." She squeaked and looked away quickly. He flashed a small smile and looked at the scenery outside, buzzing past them.

Lucy's eyes trailed down to the boy's suitcase. It was covered with buttons with the names of many places she recognized from her travels.

"You're a traveler?" She blurted out.

He blinked and followed her gaze to his luggage. "Huh? Oh yes... I started right after college. I guess you could say I've been doing this for a long time."

Lucy smiled brightly and nodded happily, sitting forward in her seat. "Me too! By the looks of your buttons, we've been to the same areas."

"Really?" He grinned, now a little more interested in this girl who sat across from him. "Where are you heading now?"

"Hargeon." Lucy smirked, crossing her arms. "World famous for their seafood."

The boy blinked and sat up straight. "Well guess what, I'm going there as well."

"Oh wait... what's your name?" Lucy asked slowly, not wanting to be a creep. "I'm Lucy... Lucy Heartfilia."

"I'm Natsu Dragneel, nice to meet you Lucy." He exclaimed and held out his hand. Lucy grinned and shook it gleefully.

The two talked for the whole train ride. Mostly about their travels and their memories in each place. Lucy was vibrant and was so excited about meeting someone to spill it all out to.

But they met their separate ways once they finally arrived in Hargeon. They both reserved different hotels on the other side of town. And Lucy was hurt as this might be the last time she saw Natsu.

But no... A few days later, it was time for Lucy to leave Hargeon. Unfortunately she didn't see Natsu on the train and she was actually really upset. But when she finally got off, there he was, standing at the bus stop.

She smiled brightly and dragged her suitcase behind her as she ran to greet him. When she finally caught up, she tapped his shoulder. Natsu at first had the happiest face ever but he tried to play it cool.

"Looks like we traveled to the same place again." He grinned and adjusted the back pack on his shoulders. "What hotel are you staying at?"

"The Eucliffe Hotel." Lucy chirped, bouncing on her heels. "You?"

"Ah. I'm staying at The Cheney. Right across from yours. But at least we can ride the bus together." He smiled broadly and nodded to the bus that had stopped right in front of them.

"Yeah!" She agreed and followed him to the back of the bus, with a slight skip to her step.

"Maybe we can meet up for dinner? After we finish checking in?" Natsu asks hopefully once they sat down.

"I'd love to. You can meet me in front of my hotel?"

"Of course."

So that's what they did. And they learned about each other. Natsu learned about Lucy's lonely past, and Lucy learned about his lonely past. He had no parents and was living with his brother for a while until he suddenly decided to leave Natsu alone, to live with a girl named Mavis.

He had a lot of money that was given to him through his foster father's will after he died. He wished for Natsu to explore the world and make friends, and that's what he did. And here he is with Lucy, a girl whom made him wish that he could be with more.

---

After their time together, they traveled the city's most famous spots together. And when it was time to go again, they stood together under one umbrella at the train station, with rain pouring down on the two of them.

"I had fun." Natsu said as he looked down at her, "I'm really gonna miss you... If we don't meet each other again."

Lucy thought about those words. She thought long and hard. "You don't need to miss me."

"Huh?"

"We can travel together... Right? We'll be together, we can travel together and split the money."

Natsu was shocked at the sudden idea. He had thought of it earlier but he believed it would be too soon.

"I really need someone to be with on my travels! I've been by myself for too long and then you showed up and... And... You made me so happy!" She blurted out.

Natsu stared down at her in surprise.

"I can't lose you! You mean so much to me! I don't want to miss you." She sobbed. "I need-"

Natsu dropped the umbrella to hold onto her shoulders. He gave her a quick look before smashing his lips onto hers.

"-you..." Lucy finished softly and watched the rain drip down onto his tanned face.

"Let's stay together, Lucy."
