Open the gate - Sophie

The song above is called "Calico Skies" by Paul McCartney. If you don't know who he is, he was part of the Beatles. This song is one of my favorites and has been for a very long time so... Yup. It reminds me of NaLu like everything else does for whatever reason. Yay!
Also I cut like... Almost a foot of my hair off... I feel different.

It had came to the point where Natsu felt it was his responsibility to support Lucy in every way shape or form. Whether it was with money for her rent, comforting her whenever she got sad about her family, or catching her after she had fallen... Literally and psychologically speaking.
To him, it was a duty he had enlisted himself to, and he honestly didn't know how. In fact... He believed that feeling started the first day he met her, helping her escape from the guards for something he had done himself. That was the best decision he made in his whole life... Inviting Lucy to the guild made everyone closer and happier. It made him happier the most.
Natsu sighed softly as he watched the guild's silent atmosphere. Uncomfortable was one word to describe it.
People were now starting to leave and head home for the night, leaving only a few behind. More specifically, the drinkers and the silent ones who didn't see the difference as much between the newfound silence of the guild and the silence of their homes and of fairy hills.
Lucy wasn't there though.
He blew his bangs out of his face and leaned back in his chair, staring up at the ceiling. Where is she? He thought to himself, squinting up at the yellow lights that were suspended above him...
Hesitantly, he raised his arm up and stared at his wrist band, smiling softly as he pictured Lucy wearing her matching one. They did that a lot for whatever reason... Match their outfits. Some little part of him even wanted to find her a matching scarf but he stubbornly said no since his was one of a kind... Of course.
After a moment of nothingness, he got up from his seat and took a look around the guild hall. Cana was at the bar hugging a barrel to her chest. Kinana stood behind the bar, twisting a silver snake-designed ring around her finger whilst staring into space. And many other we're doing basically the same thing. Except for Rufus whom was busy sketching out another one of his drawing with his friendly smile never diminishing from his face.
Walking out without a goodbye, Natsu just stood still outside, staring down at his reflection in a slightly muddy puddle.
"Aquarius..." He hummed to himself, digging into his pocket and fishing out the broken key that Lucy had given him before she'd left him.
Slowly, he bent down and stuck the end into the puddle, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration. "Open... Gate of the water bearer. Aquarius."
Nothing happened as the key remained cold and lifeless in his hand.
"Figures." He grumbled as he stuffed it back into his pocket and began walking towards nowhere in particular. "She set off for Aquarius's new key... There really is no way to contact her right now..."

Natsu blinked at his surroundings, somehow ending up at her apartment. The lights were off like they have been and her window was shut tight, and yet all her stuff was still in there.
He chuckled bittersweetly as he pulled out the spare key she had given to him a long time ago, so that he would stop his habit of using the window and actually use the door for once.
Maybe he could spend the night there for just now... She wouldn't mind right? ...Of course she would. If she were there right now she would kick him in the gut and throw him out the window.
He smiled to himself, actually missing those moments with her. "I never asked her anyway so what's the problem with it?" He snorts before opening the main door and walking up the steps to her apartment, clutching the key in his hand before sticking it in the key hole. "Open... Gate of the due rent money."
Slowly, the door creaked open only to be greeted with more silence, not a foot in his face. Frowning, he stepped inside and closed the door behind him, keeping the spare key in his hands.
"Lucy..." He called hopefully, though he knew there would be no response. She should be far far away at this point... Possibly out of Fiore. Was she safe?
Of course she is... This is Lucy. She's not the same girl he met almost ten years ago... Including the seven years on the island.
She's not alone... She's got her spirits with her. In fact, Yukino helped her out along the way. But... It's just like the year they spent apart from one another. She had her spirits then and yet... She was lonely.
Natsu bit his trembling lip, shaking his head to get the depressing thoughts out of his brain. "She's fine she's fine she's fine..." He repeated, grunting as he sat down on her bed. "She wanted to do it alone. She told me to stay here. But... Why?"
Images of her goodbye flashed inside his head. Her tears, her hug, Aquarius's old key... The kiss on the cheek. He hated it. She left so suddenly.
Natsu tugged on his pink hair, getting up to pace back and forth. "Open!" He sobbed, tears now running down his face as he pointed both of the keys he was given down towards the ground with one hand. "Gate of the celestial wizard... Lucy..." He cried, choking on his own words. "Open!"
She left him. She just hopped on the train and left. Right when he turned back to normal, gaining control of E.N.D.
Did she not trust him after that? Although he couldn't blame her if that was the case, it wouldn't change the fact that it hurt so badly. He loved this girl... He loved her so much... With her missing there was a Lucy-shaped hole in his heart.
"Open!" He he yelled again, his hand shaking. "Please..."
The keys dropped to the ground, before he himself fell to his knees, weeping into his hands. "Please come back..."
"Natsu...?"
The pinkette's eyes widened, ignoring the tears that stung his bloodshot eyes. Hesitantly, he looked to see his best friend, standing at her door way. Her blonde hair up in a ponytail and her brown eyes attracting all the light in the room.
"Natsu are you ok?"
"Lucy?..." He breathed, too shaky to get up himself. "You're back? You're real?"
"I just got here. I heard you yelling. Are you alright?"
Natsu sobbed and rubbed his eyes, pulling his hands away to look at the tears on his palms.
"Jeez..." She sighed and sat down across from him, taking of her long coat and swinging it over his shoulders. "Natsu you look horrible, you know? You should rest for the night." She smiled. "We'll talk in the morning."
Natsu's lower lip trembled, grabbing his two keys and holding them to his chest. "I missed you..." He whimpered, shuddering from containing his tears for so long. "I missed you so much Lucy. You just had to catch me once I got past my limit."
Lucy glanced down at the keys before nodding and placing her hands on top of his. "I didn't find Aquarius's key..."
"Huh? But..."
"Yet... I didn't find it yet." She chuckled, sliding her hands up to tangle them in his hair. "I needed my team with me. You and Happy. Maybe Erza and Gray... If we can get Gray to separate from Juvia..."
Natsu studied her eyes carefully before managing a grin. "You have opened my gate, Lucy Heartfilia. Id be happy to join you."
She smirked back at him, watching as he lifted his hands to wipe his remaining tears, and then moving them to her jaw and exchanging a blissful kiss on each others lips.
Lucy giggled and pulled him closer into a hug, letting them both fall onto their sides, giving kisses in between their fits of laughter.
