Safe Place
When the sky holds nothing but the promise of more storms, life is lonely. When all I want is a hand to hold or an arm about my shoulders and none comes, the world becomes cold and empty, a slow poison for the soul. We are born to be loved and nurtured, and to do the same for others. We are born to be in tribes with social bonds that last a lifetime. It's times like this I wish I could melt in the rain like those paper people, fade away, anything to stop the ever-present pain.
Blonde wrote in her book full of drafts as she swirled the pen around her fingers. She read the text again, it was almost frightening how she could pour down her emotions on a paper so easily. Then again, it was much easier to just write it down where no one could see it rather then let someone know.
Lucy knew the moment she started to cry, she was alone. She cried slowly, with tears dripping down her temples and the soft hum of her own voice echoing throughout the room. She knew she existed and breathed. It was as simple and beautiful as the strumming of an instrument. Yet, she meant nothing to anyone. She was alone, sinking deeper and deeper within her own music.
The rest of the world could be seen, drifting farther and farther away as teardrops made up her ocean. They fell into her parted lips and stuck to her eyelashes. She could taste them, rolling down her parched throat. She was alone.
She had lost herself.
She had lost herself in an endless ocean.
Loneliness was eating her alive, swallowing every once of hope she had yet to spare. It feasted upon any happiness she had left, leaving behind empty carcass; full of despair and memories she couldn't seem to hold onto anymore. It took her heart into its claws, squeezing out every bit of life she had circulating throughout her veins. It craved for her to suffer a life without any warm hands to embrace her, or any shoulders to go cry upon.
No, this beast wanted her to only feel those cold fingertips tracing through her soul, getting close to her, yet leaving in the end; abandoning her, once more, this beast is something you should be afraid off because you have no power over it whatsoever.
It sounds like such an easy problem to fix. She just needed to call up a friend or reach out to someone who cared. But it wasn't just another obstacle in life, it was like a black hole inside, sucking on everything that was left of her being and sanity. It threatened to swallow every part of her, bad and good, until all that's left was a human shaped shell too numb to feel the pain anymore.
Blonde held onto one thing that reminded her of the fact that se wasn't alone, the necklace Natsu gave her on her birthday. She took it of for a moment to look inside of it. The picture of her, Happy and Natsu all smiling and feeling genuine happiness. She smiled softly at the memory as she gripped the hold around it.
That's right, I'm not alone. As long as they are in my life, I'm not alone. They'll come back, they promised, after all.
I won't let this break me, it's not the first time I feel like this. I used to always feel this loneliness when I was with dad.
But it's different this time, I have friends. I can think about them and remind myself that I'll never be alone again.
Yes, Fairy Tail is, and always will be, my safe place.

i hope you liked this little reminder that no matter how alone you feel, there's always someone who you can think about. someone who can make you feel better just by thinking of them!
i love you all!
and please remember, if you ever need to talk you can always come to me. i can't promise a great advice that will magically fix everything but i can offer to listen or give a shoulder to cry on, and sometimes that might be enough..
