The day my sweet little Lucy was born, I realized, even if I didn't have much longer to live.. I wanted to protect her with everything I had. She was the reason for me to continue fighting.

Lucy finished reading a letter she found in an old box filled with things that belonged to her parents. She softly smiled at her mother's words and took another thing from the box.

It was a ring her father always wore when he was alive. He couldn't go a day without it. Lucy always wondered why it was so important to him, but she never had the guts to ask him. While she examined the thing in between her fingertips, she caught something shiny with the corner of her eye.

The blonde moved her hand and pulled out a matching ring inside, this one was a female version. Lucy's lips parted as she let out a tiny gasp. Were these their engagement rings?

"Oh.."

"Luce, why are you taking so long? We still have a lot of things to get in here!" Natsu shouted from downstairs with boxes in his arms.

They spent the last few days moving stuff from Lucy's old apartment to their new house. Other guild members came to help as much as they could, but it was only Lucy and Natsu today.

"I'm coming!" She shouted back and placed everything back to its place.

"What took you so long?" Boy asked, peeking his head from behind the boxes to glance at her.

"I found some old stuff from mom and dad, and lost the track of time.." she smiled while closing her eyes and remembering her family's smiling faces.

"You were crying.." Natsu noticed and put the boxes away, he stepped closer and put his palm on her cheek, slowly rubbing his thumb against it. It was truly incredible how well he became to know her over the years.

"I miss them, Natsu.. so much.." Her voice cracked as her eyes began watering. She just broke down, it felt like she lost them all over again. As if her whole world started falling apart right before her eyes. The heart wrenching sobs punched through, ripping through her muscles, bones, and guts. She pressed her forehead on Natsu's chest and let her heart yank in and out of her chest.

Natsu held her in silence, rocking her slowly as her tears soaked his chest.

"I'll be okay.." she whispered between her tears.

"I know you will," he agreed and stroked her hair.

"It's okay to miss your parents, Luce.. that's not a crime. You can cry as much as you need to, and I'll always be there to hold you, I'll keep telling you that everything will be okay.." he spoke, meaning every word that came out of his mouth.

Blonde suddenly let out a small chuckle.

"Isn't it funny? That if I had made a different decision I wouldn't be here now. If that day I didn't pass by in Hargeon to see that Magic shop, I wouldn't have met you.. I wouldn't have joined Fairy Tail.. If I was sat in a different universe, without you by my side, I would have never become complete."

The two parted, Natsu stared into her eyes with admiration. It became stronger with age, more mature, and more robust. To him, she was unfailingly kind, she always put others first and herself last. No matter how tired she was, even after a long day and night job, she was never short with anyone.

"I love you.."
