Dragon and the Princess
A tiny girl sat alone at her enormous garden near the castle. Just relaxing and playing with her dolls her mother got her as a birthday present.
After about an hour of just playing she got bored and decided to explore the place. As she was walking around the bushes she heard soft snores from behind them.
She peeked her head over to find a sleeping boy. He had weird red scales on his body and a long tail and wings to follow them. She let out a gasp which woke up a small dragon looking boy.
"Who.. are you?" She asked as she kept her distance. The boy with salmon hair stood up tiredly and rubbed his eyes before looking at the person who spoke.
When his eyesight finally cleared he noticed a girl in a baby pink dress. She wore a small crown on her head and tiny earrings.
She seemed to be in shock, but so was the boy. They never saw anything like this before.
"I'm Natsu.. who are you?" He asked with a smile which immediately gave the safe vibe to the blonde.
"L-Lucy.." her small face seemed flustered for a second there.
And that was how our tale began.
-
"Natsu! Be quiet, someone could hear you!" A seventeen year old blonde shushed a tall dragon as he jumped from the fence.
"I think you're making much more noise than me, Princess." He teased back which ended with the girl pouting.
"Whatever.." she scoffed.
"Anyway.. I have bad news." The blonde said with sad eyes. She couldn't bare looking at him from shame, so she just stared at the floor.
"What is it?"
"We can't see each other anymore. This is a goodbye.." blonde whispered as she tightly held her upper arms, doing everything in her power not to give away her sadness.
"What?! Why?!"
"I'm forbidden from telling you, I'm sorry Natsu." And just like that she ran off, leaving the boy by himself. Confused, hurt and alone.
-
Few weeks passed by. Natsu came to their meeting spot every day, expecting Lucy to show up, to give him some explanation, anything really. But she never came.
The hurt in him was like a spider web, intricate, yet strong. He knew in time it would pass and the sun would regain its warmth, but the joy from his heart was gone. He couldn't cry, couldn't grieve for her. She took the love she offered and locked it back inside that cage humans called a body.
He decided that the best idea would be to go to the castle to see for himself what was happening.
When he came there the next day he noticed a lot of decors. It looked weird. It was.. too much.
His heart slowly tear itself apart when he landed his eyes at the altar. His mate was standing there with another man about to share their vows.
"What the actual hell?!" He growled at the man who held hands with Lucy. The fire inside him rose as well as his anger.
You said you loved me and I took you at your word. You said I was your soul mate and over the years you became part of the bedrock of my personality.
Then one sunny day, under a cloudless sky, you go and leave me for someone else? It would have been kinder to kill me. Now I must be this person filled with bitterness I can't control.
With the loving heart we are trusted and trustworthy, honoured and honourable, noble and brave. So here he stood, willing to protect who he loved with all that he was and ever will be.
As much as the boy felt betrayed, he couldn't let his mate go with someone else. He had to do something to prevent this.
-
As Lucy looked at the man in front of her, she felt nothing but sadness. The last thing she wished for was to marry the man she didn't know, let alone loved.
She glanced at her mother who sat in the first row. Her mother looked at her with sympathy as she knew what she was going through. Only thing she could do was sadly smile at her precious child.
"And now, do you, Gray Fullbuster, take Lucy Heartfilia to be your wedded wife?" The priest said while reading from his book.
"I do." The man said.
"And you, Lucy Heartfilia, do you, take Gray Fullbuster, to be your wedded husband?" The old man said once more, now looking at the princess.
The blonde looked at the floor. Wishing for her dragon to come and take her away.
"I..-"
"She doesn't!" Someone roared from behind the crowd. The enraged dragon spit fire everywhere in the matter of seconds, making everyone look for safety.
"Take my hand, Princess.." he spoke lovingly as he landed in front of her. Blonde could only smile as tears of pure happiness rolled down her cheeks.
She took his hand without hesitation and they flied off, far, far away.
-
As they landed upon the forest floor where lied trees of yesteryear, fallen in storms long forgotten. The seasons have been harsh, stripping away the bark and outer layers, yet rendering them all the more beautiful. They had the appearance of driftwood.
Natsu distanced himself from Lucy, he sat at the middle of field and glanced at the stars above them.
"I should explain myself, shouldn't I?" Lucy spoke awkwardly; almost shamefully.
"You think?" The boy said coldly, not ever sharing a look with the princess.
"If you think I wanted to get married to him, you're wrong. It was an arranged marriage, Natsu.. I never wanted to be with someone beside you. Please believe me.." the blonde cried out as tears filled her eyes.
"Natsu, I love you and only you.. I'm grateful to you for getting me out of there, but I also understand if you don't want to have any type of relationship with me anymore. I-I should probably leave now.." she slowly stood up from the grass and started walking away.
Natsu let out a sigh before he came after her.
"Where are you going?" He swirled her around in the air with a grin as she realized he was only fooling around. She pouted when he put her down.
"Oh, c'mon! Don't be mad at your dragon!" He teased as Lucy's cheeks reddened.
"S-Shut up!"
As she was about to cross her hands below her breasts Natsu was faster to get a hold of them. He placed them around his neck and put his on her waist, pulling her closer.
"W-What do you think you're doing?!"
"Claiming what's mine." He spoke and kissed her neck as she let out a slight wince.
