It's still pretty much a blur what exactly happened..

All I remember is.. pain. A lot of it.

Though the ground glistened like rain had fallen, the liquid that shone wasn't clear but red. The men who died, pawns in a game of warlords, were for the most part dead and those who were not, soon would be. How many had fallen? How many remained strong and able to send to the next fight?

Two mages glanced upon each other as they both fought their own enemies. Pink haired mage saw a man ready to take a shot. At first he thought almost nothing of it. But then, as his eyes scanned where the man's aim was, his blood went cold.

"Lucy! Watch out!" Someone yelled out as blonde girl turned her head to see who it was. Before she could, her body suddenly fell to the floor, twisting in pain.

"Ugh.." she looked to the side to see an arrow piercing through my left shoulder. The blood found its way out and it splattered around.

Natsu kneeled above her, too scared to touch the thing. Blondes sight became disturbed, everything seemed.. unreal.

How did her life turn out like this?

- flashbacks -

"I want to become a nurse, daddy!" A young girl announced with her hands high up in the air to her father. The man seemed uninterested in her words and continued his work.

"Daddy..?"

"Leave me alone, Lucy! Can't you see I'm working?!" The man shouted at the little one. Her eyes watered as she slowly walked outside.

As she closed the door of her bedroom, she broke down crying. She felt like she didn't matter, like she was the black sheep of her own family.

- 

"Goodbye, dad.." blonde whispered as she turned her head and left the Heartfilia mansion without turning back.

"Hey! What are you doing?! I never said I want to join the military!" Lucy yelled out as the soldiers pulled her with them.

As she came to the army's camp they made her chop off half of her hair. She glanced at herself in the mirror with teary eyes and walked outside, somewhat embracing her new life.

"Natsu, you ready for another race?" Blonde challenged the new guy.

"Sure thing, I swear I'll beat you this time!" He laughed.

"I never knew a person could make me feel like this.." blonde uttered.

"Like what?"

"Like I belong.." she smiled.

- end of flashbacks -

"Ngh.." Lucy squirmed in pain. She noticed her whole shoulder and half of her arm was bandaged.

"Hey.. good to see you awake.." someone spoke. Blonde turned to see Natsu holding her hand.

"I missed you.." he said.

"How long was I out?" She asked.

"A week. The arrow sliced through your collarbone so you had to be taken to surgery." Natsu explained.

"What about the battle? Did we lost?"

"No.. we won, barely. But that's not as important as you surviving.. I don't know how I'd get over it if the worst happened.." A troubled look was seen in his eyes.

"Bit it didn't, I'm right here y'know." She tightened the grip on his hand. She leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.

"Thank you for worrying about me.." she said with a smile.

"I don't think I can ever stop at this point." His words made Lucy chuckle softly.

I really do appreciate you, Natsu... Thank you..
