The night was a special kind of blackness, the kind that wants only to hold the stars and help them to shine all the brighter. It was a warm black that hugged you no matter what, and within it's safety I could feel my own soul all the more clearly, that innocent inborn spark.

Blonde stared out the window, doing nothing but admiring how beautiful the sky seemed tonight. Then, her eyes shifted to the stack of papers in front of her.

She picked up her favorite pen up and continued writing where she left off.

Her peace was soon interrupted by a light knock on the window. She tensed for a second before turning around. Her eyes met with his for a spare moment when she got up from her seat to open the window.

"Hey, Luce!" He spoke with his usual grin plastered across his face.

Blonde examined his body as he jumped inside. She noticed he was covered in scratches and bruises.

"Another fight with Gray, I assume." She sighed.

"Yup! I've beaten him!" He celebrated with lifting his fist up before wincing in pain and lowering it back down.

"But it came with consequences." He laughed.

"Don't worry, I'll clean them up." Lucy said and reached into the drawer to get the firs aid kit.

As she returned she found her dear friend fast asleep. She tiptoed quietly closer to him and crouched beside him.

She got a hold of the alcohol and put few drops of it on a cotton wool. She carefully began rubbing it against his injuries, as she connected alcohol with his skin she could see a frown on his face.

After some time, Lucy finished and he was brand new. She leaned back to rest for a spare moment and soon after fell asleep as well.

- middle of the night -

Natsu's eyes opened as he no longer felt comfortable on the couch. He glanced at the blonde who slept on the floor next to him. He sat up and noticed his injuries were all wrapped up and taken care of.

His face formed a gentle smile as he silently thanked Lucy.

"Alright, let's go to bed.." he whispered and scooped blonde into his arms and walked to her bed. He placed her down gently and got into the covers soon after.

He glanced, almost stared at her face as it was slightly illuminated by the moonlight. Her skin was smooth and her breaths were soft. Her hair shined slightly like the prettiest of crystals.

Natsu couldn't help but admire her. She was so... different from everyone he's ever met. She was kinder, more thoughtful and somehow, more beautiful. Whenever he looked at her she shined so brightly, sometimes it would be too much for him to take so he would have to look away.

She never failed to amaze him with her abilities. It hasn't been that long since she first joined the guild, yet she developed so much. She wasn't the same girl he met in Hargeon anymore.

The boy slowly came closer to the sleeping girl and wrapped his hand around her waist, by pulling her closer her hands touched his chest which made his heart hurt.

It hurt in a special way, like if she wasn't here he couldn't handle it. He got attached far more than he thought he would.

Now, even a minute without her seemed like eternity.

"I wish I could tell you how I feel about you.."

He caressed her cheek and placed a soft kiss on the top of her head.

"Goodnight, Luce.." he whispered as he hugged her closer and let the dreams come to him.
