(Lucy's P.O.V)
The first time I was ever injured I was five years old. I was running outside my house in the backyard. My friends and I were playing tag while our parents talked on the porch. It was a summer day—warm and sunny. I think I was it, at least that's what I remember. I was chasing one of the boys across the yard, both of us laughing. He teased me as we ran, telling me I couldn't run as fast as he could—because I was a girl.
Trying to admit he was wrong, I ran and caught up to him. Giggling and smiling I jumped over a piece of wood, tripping in the process. My mom ran to me once she heard me cry and gasped when she saw me holding my scraped knee. It hurt a lot, I was five so I guess that's not a surprise. I also remember my mom holding me gently in her arms, rocking me back and forth.
But that pain was nothing to what I felt now. My back felt as though it was on fire and I couldn't move. I was probably bruised all over.
"Lucy breath..." I heard Natsu's voice. His hand is rubbing my head and I feel him pick me up. I gasp a little when I feel him touch my back. I guess it is really bruised there. "Sorry, baby." He whispers quietly.
"Is she ok?" Someone asks.
"Does she look ok?" I hear Erza growls at whoever asked. "It's because of your stupid team that she's hurt!"
"Oh, so it's our fault?" Flare sneers. "It's not our fault, she sucks!"
"Really?" Natsu snapped. "That's not how I saw it!" What did he mean by that, is that why he told me to watch out before I tripped?
"Natsu, enough!" I hear Makarov say. "Take Lucy to the infirmary. Ms. Porlyuska will take care of her." I see him turn back to the crowd. "Well I think that's enough for the game today. You may all come to the pavilion. We have lunch prepared."
With Levy and the other girls following, Natsu takes me to the infirmary. During the whole walk, I try not to look at him. He was so overprotective over one incident, what if people saw the affection he has for me?
If so, we're so dead.

"Alright, your ok for now." Ms. Porlyuska lowers my shirt once she takes one last look at my back. "Your back is a little bruised, but after a few days of resting, you can go back to play."
She frowns. "Honestly, I don't think you should continue playing this summer."
I sit up, but instantly regret it. "What? But what else would I do?" If she says go home, then I'll break down more. I can't leave Natsu. Not now, not when we found each other.
Porlyuska holds up her hand. "Don't worry, I takes with Makarov. You can stay, but-." She gives me a stern stare. "Take a few days to rest."
I cower under her look. "Ok, ok!"

"Lu-chan!" Levy hugs me once I arrive to our cabin the next morning. I spent the night in the infirmary and I was so uncomfortable. I had to sleep on my side in order to keep my back from more pain.
"Levy, my back." I wince and she instantly lets me go. "Eeek! Sorry Lu!"
"It's ok." I smile and sit down on my bed. "I can't believe I'm not able to play for a few days." I sigh and rub my head. "What will I do?"
"You can always read or write." Levy smirks.
"Write? Me?" I brush her comment away. "Pff...as if I do."
"Yeah...write..." Levy guiltily glances at the notebook in her hand. Wait...that's my diary.
"Levy! Did you read that?" I give her a glare.
"No..." She giggles nervously.
No I did not write about Natsu. I'm not that stupid.
"Lev-chan!"
I grab a pillow and throw it at her, we spend the next half hour pillow fighting. Smiling and giggling we laugh as we continue the fight. But in the end I think it was too much for me, because I feel pain in my back after a few fights.
"I think that's enough!" I breath and sit down.
"Oh, sorry Lu-chan!" Levy gasps, putting her hand on her mouth.

"Lucy, what are you doing here?" Natsu whispers. It's dark out and I decided to sneak to his cabin once the girls were asleep. "You need to be careful, your back..."
"I know." I grab his head and kiss him. He seems shocked at first, but then kisses me back. His arms go around me very gently, so as not to hurt me.
"I missed you." I tell him breathlessly when we pull apart.
"Me too." He takes my hand. "Since your here, why don't you spend the night. I'll help you sneak out early tomorrow."
I giggle and walk up to his bed. Sitting down, I pull him down next to me. "You can help me recover." I lay down and rest my head on his chest, feeling utterly relaxed. Natsu laughs at my choice of words.
"Good night, Luce." He turns off the light and kisses my forehead.
"Goodnight, Natsu." I close my eyes and fall asleep, his arms keeping me safe.
