Dante's Folly Part 2: Woolly Resistance

Meanwhile, Dante was rather pleased with himself. His plan was simple yet perfect. So perfect in face that he felt the need to share it. Of course he'd be a fool to tell the sheep, there was only one creature that could comprehend his brilliance. "All of you stay together. I'm gonna go see how much time we got before we get movin." They nodded their heads and cheered him on as he disappeared into the tall grass. Once he was certain that he was out of their sight, Dante spread his wings and flew all the way back to the volcanic cavern he called home.

Inside, Belgarion was laying back on their shared stone sofa, practicing his aim with a handcrafted boomerang. Being extremely use to Dante, only his ears turned upon hearing his arrival. "So." He said, through a thick accent. "How'd it go?" Dante proceeded to rant on almost endlessly about his encounter with the sheep and the dingoes. Belgarion listened and nodded, being fairly impressed at some parts. He chuckled when Dante mentioned about being their hero. "So that's a no on your lamb dinner then?" He stated with a bit of a smirk. This time it was Dante's turn to chuckle. "Not yet." He said simply. Belgarion's slightly cocky smirk turn into more of a skeptical stare as Dante continued on, sharing his "brilliance" with the roo.

"Will you come help?" Dante finished with a grin so certain, calling it overconfidence would be an understatement. Belgarion raised his eyebrow. "Nah, I'm gonna stay outta this one. I think you're plenty capable..." "Fine then." Dante responded, as he turned, "I am more then just capable," He affirmed, making way towards the cavern's exit. "Certainly," Belgarion added, though disapproval was painted across his face. "Just try not to be too pissed off when this inevitably goes wrong. We nearly lost the west meadow last time." Dante scoffed, disregarding him, and left.

The sheep waited anxiously for Dante's return. They feared how far he had gone, and if he was coming back for them at all. But of course he was... they thought. He had to be. He was their hero, why would he ever abandon them? Daniel prayed that he had simply forgotten about them all together and moved on to smaller prey, but to his dismay and the rest of the flock's delight Dante soon reappeared out of the tall meadow grass. He seemed frantic and was panting hard from the long run. "They're—" He inhaled sharply. "closer then I feared... We don't have much time!" He stood as tall as he could, recovering himself rather quickly, and lowered his already slightly gruff voice. The overall effect added another layer of depth to his performance and lulled the captivated audience even closer. Daniel rolled his eyes but followed them anyway, not having much choice.

Dante continued on, "We'll take the north pass to the river, you'll be safe on the other side." First silence, then lots of little whispers ran through the crown, but a single voice drown them all. "Are you crazy?!" exclaimed the once small voice belonging to Daniel, earning the crowds full undivided attention. Dante's eyes narrowed but he didn't interject. "That pass leads to Brim Demise! We'll never be able to cross there it's a sheer drop!!" "It's the quickest way, and the river's narrow there," Dante argued. "It's still too wide for us! And what about the rapids? We'd be jumping to our deaths!!" Daniel retorted, and he did have a point. The sheep knew that river, it was very fast and had a strong undercurrent. They turned back to Dante, their nervousness was apparent and it couldn't be helped, but Dante could be persuasive when he really wanted to be. He glanced around at their worried faces and spoke softly. "Calm  yourselves.. really... There's no reason to fret my wooly friends," He reassured them. His expression hardened as he locked eyes with Daniel. "I have a plan."
