Nadine's POV

I see Oskar leaning against the wall, his eyes going wide when he sees me.

"Uh can we talk"...

I feel a lump form in my throat. I give Ina a reassuring smile telling her I would catch up with her later. I watch Ina go almost wishing I could go with her.

Oskar leads me down the hall and around a corner. I lean on the white lockers as he stands across from me. "So uhh what did you want to talk about" I ask wringing my hands together.

I feel his sharp green eyes staring at me. It's as if he was looking deep into my soul. His eyes wanted to convey something to me. My muddy brown eyes stared back as if wanting to know more.

"I know you saw me and uh Bianca together earlier" he starts as he scratches the back of his head.

I finally look away staring hard at the ground. "It doesn't matter what I saw... it's none of my business anyway". When I look up I see the sudden anger in his eyes.

"I just wanted to clear the air. We aren't together if that's what you think" he states putting his hands into his pockets. He continues to stare hard at me willing me to say something. But what exactly did he want me to say?

"Like I said, it's none of my business" I say taking a gulp of air. I see him clench his fist as they start to turn red.

"Whatever" he says before leaving me to stand alone.

Was he expecting a different answer?

Shaking my head I continue walking back to my dorm.

I enter my dorm and Ina right away fires question after question. "Sooo what did he say? Is it true him and Bianca are dating again" did he ask you out"?

Rolling my eyes I face plant into my bed. "I don't want to talk about it" I say with my face in my pillow. I decide a walk would do me good so I grab my phone and tell Ina I will see her later.

I walk outside into the bitter cold. Placing my hands in my pocket I look over at some of the academy students goofing around. Going on walks was something I often did back home. It was a chance for me to clear my head whenever I felt my mind was about to explode.

I kept walking until I found a small place with a pond. I sat down on one of the benches peering down at the pond.

I wonder if anyone knows about this place?

Taking a deep breath of the fresh air I almost recoil back when I smell something rotten. I wanted to puke but I held back trying to find the source of the smell. I walk closer into the trees when I see a pale hand sticking out.

I feel my heart sink when I look closer and see it's a dead body of a girl.

"Oh my god" I whisper trying to get a good view of the body's face. When I step closer I feel my body go numb.

The dead body was Rosie's.

I stood shaken next to Ina. I immediately called the authorities as soon as I discovered Rosie's body. I couldn't get it out of my head, her lifeless body with her neck sliced.

Her skin looked white as a ghost and her hair looked coated with blood. I had no clue who would do such a horrendous act against sweet Rosie. If I had known she had been going through something I could have helped her.

I should have known. When she wouldn't text back for hours and hours. It was like she disappeared, barely hanging out with me and Ina. If only I had known.

"Are you okay" Ina asks as we walk slowly back to the academy.

"Yeah, just a little shaken up". I felt a lump form on my throat.

"I still can't believe this happened. I knew something was up when she didn't answer my calls or texts" Ina says her voice cracking. I rub her arm in comfort as we continue walking slowly. There were police cars and ambulances everywhere.

Just as me and Ina are about to step into the academy we are stopped by a police officer.

"Excuse are you Nadine Willis" he asks.

"Yes that's me" I answer looking confused.

"We are going to need you to come down to the station to answer a few questions".

Taking a deep breath I nod my head ignoring the never ending butterflies in my stomach.
