The best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. It must be felt with the heart.

It was the daytime, and the sun was shining over the building where the vehicles and ambulances were parked. It was a hospital. The stuff and other people were passing by the corridor and some people were sitting on the benches. In one of cabins, Avni was laying on the bed and the doctor was doing her checkup and Neil was standing there. Avni and Neil looked tensed because Avni was having labor pain since morning. They were looking at their baby. Avni looked at Neil who looked at her. Neil smiled and signed Avni smile. Avni looked on because she knew, Neil is also afraid.

Later, Avneil were sitting with the doctor. The doctor was checking Avni’s reports and she closed the file.

Doctor: Avni ki reports to sahi hain. Hemoglobin bhi sahi aur baki reports bhi theek hain.

Avneil already knew that because they had checked the report and anyone has basic knowledge of these things. The Doctor sighed.

Doctor: Ab humain c-section karne main dair nahi karni chahiye. Agar hum ne aur time liye to Avni aur Baby ki jaan ko khatra ho sakta hai.

Avneil were shocked and they looked at each other.

Doctor: aap logon ka jo bhi decision ho. Aap log discuss kar ke bata dijiye.

The doctor looked at Neil who nodded.

The doctor nodded and she said, ok. The doctor talked to them and she gave the date. Avni talked and the doctor gave them the file. Neil got up and he helped Avni to get up.

Later, Avneil was sitting in the living area with the family. Avni sipping the water.

Shweta: agle hafte Wednesday ko.

Neil nodded.

Neil: Ji.

They looked at Avni who looked tense. Neil looked at Avni and then he lowered his head. Shweta came to Avni and sat beside her. Shweta kept her hand on Avni’s shoulder.

Shweta: tu bhi chinta mat kar. Sab theek hoga.

Avni smiled slightly and then she thought. Neil thought to cheer up Avni.

Neil: ab, Mom, woh jo hum ne cradle ka order diya tha us ka kya howa?

Avni looked at Neil. Shweta looked at Neil who signed her. Everyone understood Neil’s sign.

Shweta: ab, han, woh aaj sham tak ajayega.

Neil: jab baby ayega to us ke room bhi set karna parega na.

Bebe palmed her head.

Bebe: abhi to baby itu se hoga usay panch che saal ka to hone de.

Avni was smiling but her smile faded.

Neil made a face.

Avni: Panch, che saal.

Everyone looked at Avni.

Everyone got shocked especially they felt bad.

Some day passed, the Khanna family spent the time with Avni so that she didn’t fell lonely and think about her c-section. They talked and Avni and Bebe werr knitting the sweater. Avni was smiling and Neil sighed to see her. Neil smiled. Neil and Avni were in the garden area and they were walking there. Neil was giving support to Avni. They sat and Avni wiped her sweet. Neil asked her are you ok and Avni nodded. The family played the cricket match and Avni was enjoying it while sipping her juice with the straw. Avni clapped for them. Neil was balling Neav.

Avni said while pulling Neil’s cheek: aww, my cute Neilu.

Neil made a face.

Neil made a face and Avni gave him a flying kiss. Neil was surprised and he was looking at Avni. They smiled.

Avni made a sad pout and then they smiled.

One day, Avni was sitting on the bed and she was having pain. Neil was sitting on the couch and was studying a file. Avni tried to get up from the bed she pursed her lips. Avni sat back and she sighed. Avni wiped her sweet. The severity of the pain increased and she squeezed her eyes.

Avni signed Neil with her hand.

Avni: Neil.

Neil looked at Avni and he was shocked to see Avni.

Neil: Avni!

Neil got up and came to Avni.  Neil held Avni’s hand and sat beside her.

Neil: kya howa?

Avni: Neil, bohat dard ho raha hai.

Neil: Main medicine deta hun.

Avni squeezed her eyes. Neil was about to get up and Avni shook her head and her eyes were closed.

Avni: Neil, doctor ke pass chalo.

Neil was shocked.

Neil: doctor?

Avni nodded. Neil thought and Avni winced.

Neil: acha, acha theek hai. chalo.

Neil helped Avni to get up and he took her from there.

A car was moving on the road and Neil was driving it. Avni was sitting in the backseat and Shweta was sitting with her. Avni was having pain. Suddenly, Avni screamed. Neil and Shweta got shocked. Neil saw Avni in the rearview mirror.

Avni screamed: Aah, Neil.

Shweta: Avni, beta, sabar karo, hum bus pohanchne wale hain.

Avni: Mummy Ji, bohat dard ho raha hai.

Neil: relax, Avni, bus panch minute aur phir hum pohanch jaenge.

Avni was in pain and wincing. Neil looked at the rearview mirror and then he looked on the way. Neil was shocked and he widened his eyes. Neil applied the break. Neil looked shocked. Shweta looked at Neil.

Neil looked at Shweta and he looked straight. The branches of the tree were fallen on the road. Shweta saw that and she was shocked. Neil thought.

Shweta nodded and Neil got down of the car. Neil went and he started to keep away the branches.

Avni screamed: Aah, Neil.

Neil looked at Avni and he started to wok faster. Avni was wincing and screaming and Neil was keeping away the branches of tree. Neil took away all the branches and he was panting. Neil took a step back. Neil sighed and he moved back. Neil turned and he hurriedly moved to the car. Neil ran and he came to the car. Neil opened the door and he got in the car. Neil started the car and they went from there.

Soon, a car stopped outside the hospital. Neil came out of the car and he asked for the stretcher. Neil took Avni out of the car and layed her on the stretcher. Avni was in pain. They took Avni from there. Avni was taken by the corridor and she was screaming. Neil was holding her hand.

Avni: Aah, Neil.

Neil looked at Avni and he felt helpless. Neil kissed Avni’s hand.

Avni: Neil.

Avni was in pain. Avni left Neil’s hand and held her belly.

Avni was taken to the labor room.

Avni: EK minute. Neil.

Neil held Avni’s hand in his hand and leaned to her.

Later, Avni was laying on the bed in Fowler’s position and Neil saw sitting in front of her. The pain, Avni went through was not the labour pain but now it was time for her delivery. Avni’s c-section was in one hour. Neil looked hell worried and Avni was looking at Neil. Avni was also worried but she thought to cheer up Neil.

Avni: Baby meri tummy main hai aur tum ne to asi shakal banai hoi hai jaise tumhe labour pain hon.

Avni smiled and Neil looked on.

Avni: come on, Neil, pehle hi mujhe mere pet main butterflies feel ho rahi hain. Math ke exam se pehle wali feeling arahi hai aur tum bilkul maths wale teacher wala face bana kar bethe ho. Jaise kisi ne sou balloon tumhare mou main dal diye ho. Hup.

Avni smiled.

Later, Avni was in OT and Neil was waiting for the good news with his parents outside it. Neil was looking at the door and red light. Neil prayed for them. Neil walked there and then he stood with the support of the wall. His one leg was up. Shweta was praying for Avni and Baby. Inside the OT, the doctor were doing their work. Avni was laying on the bed unconsciously. The crying of the baby echoed in the corridor and Neil looked at the door. Shweta smiled and her eyes were moist Prakash also smiled but he was worried for Avni. Neil moved forward and he heard the crying of his baby. Neil’s eyes got moist and he got numbed. Neil was just looking at the door.

In the OT, the baby was in doctor’s hand and its eyes were open. The baby was looking around as he was trying to recognize the place. The doctor took the baby to Avni’s face and Avni was unconscious. The baby’s face touched Avni’s face.The baby saw Avni and he touched Avni’s face.

In the corridor, Neil was standing and he was just looking at the OT. Shweta came to Neil and held his shoulder.

Shweta: Tillu.

Neil looked at her mother and he held her shoulders.

Neil: mom. Mom, aap ne suna.

Shweta nodded. She smiled and her eyes were moist. 

Neil: mera, mera bacha.

Shweta nodded and Neil hugged his mother. Neil smiled and his eyes got glassy.

Shweta: congractulations.

Prakash aslo met Neil and congratulated Neil. They broke the hug and Neil looked at the door. Soon, the door opened and Neil got alert. The doctor came out and a baby was in her arms. Neil got shocked and he felt like his feet got freezed. The doctor came to Neil. Shweta and Prakash smiled to see baby.

Doctor: congractulations, it’s a girl.

Neil was numbed and he looked at his daughter. The doctor passed the baby to Neil who was looking at his baby. Neil took the baby in his arms and he was adoring his doll. Neil’s eyes got moist.

Neil: My princess. My tigress.

Neil smiled and the tears fell from his eyes. Neil kissed the forehead of his princess. Neil adored his doll and he smiled.

Shweta: Kitni cute hai. Chotu si cutie.

Neil looked at his mother while smiling. Neil looked at his daughter.

Neil: Bilkul meri Avni ke jaisi.

Neil smiled and others smile faded. They looked at the doctor. Neil was adoring his daughter and suddenly Neil’s smile faded and he looked at the doctor.

Neil: Doctor, Avni.

The doctor looked on. Everyone was looking at the doctor. Neil felt restless and many thoughts started to roam in his mind. The fear was clearly visible on his face.

Five years later:

It was a daytime, and the wind was blowing. A man was standing in an open area. It was a cliff. The man was looking at the other side. The person was Neil and he was lost in his thoughts. It was the same place where he met Avni the first time. Neil saw the flashes of their first meeting and the day when Avni came there from the court when the lawyer humiliated her. Neil was looking straight.

Someone was coming to him. The person came to Neil and stood beside him. The person was none other than Avni. Avni looked at Neil who was still looking straight. Avni looked here and there and the she looked straight.

Avni: Neil. tum humain yahan kyun laye ho?

Neil came out of his thoughts and he looked at Avni. Neil smiled and then he looked here and there.

Neil: Avni, tumhe yeh jaga yaad hai?

Avni looked straight and she smiled.

Avni: Bilkul yaad hai. Bhala is jaga ko main kaise bhul sakti hun.

Neil smiled.

Neil: yeh wahi jaga hai jahan hum bees (20) saal pehle pehli baar mile the.

Avni smiled.

Neil: Bees saal ho gaye hain, Avni.

Avni was smiling.

Neil: Lekin, aaj bhi asa lagta hai jaise kal hi ki baat ho jab hum pehli baar mile the.

Avni was smiling.

Neil: Waqt kitni taizi se guzar gaya kuch pata hi nahi chala.

Avni looked at Neil and she smiled.

Avni: Yeh to hai. Lekin aaj tum yeh batain kyun kar rahe ho. sab theek hai na?

Neil nodded and sighed.

Neil: han, sab theek hai. Bus ase hi ek soch mann main ayi. Aaj Avleen ka 5th birthday hai. Panch saal kitni jaldi beet gaye abhi kal hi to choti si, cute si Avleen doctor ne meri bahon main thmai thi.

They smiled.

Neil: Aaj woh panch saal ki ho gayi hai. Ase hi dekhte hi dekhte Avleen badhi ho jaye gi aur aaj din woh bida ho kar chali jayegi.

Avni was shocked.

Neil: kaise rahunga main meri princess ke bina.

Avni was looking at Neil as she has seen a ghost and then she chuckled. Neil looked at Avni and he frowned.

Neil: kya howa, tum huns kyun rahi ho?

Avni: hunso nahi to aur kya karo.

Neil was looking at Avni.

Avni: Neil, Avleen abhi sirf panch saal ki hai aur tumhe abhi se us ki bidai ki tension ho rahi hai.

Neil made a face.

Neil: main to bus ase… mere dimagh main ek baat agai.

Avni smiled.

Neil: tum dekhna kaise yeh saal beet jaenge humain pata bhi nahi chalega.

Avni nodded.

Neil: Phir dekhna tum hi us ki bidai per sab se zyada rogi.

Avni: Asa kuch nahi hoga. Main Saisha ki bidai per bhi nahi royi thi. Betiya nayi zindagi main kadam rakhne jaa rahi hoti hain unhe muskura kar bida karna chahiye. Ansoo baha kar nahi.

Neil: yeh bhi hai. khair jab woh time ayega tab dekha jayega abhi se kya sochna. Who knows ke kab kya ho jaye.

Avni nodded while thinking.

Avni: Hmmm, maine to yeh bhi nahi socha tha ke main meri bachi ko dekh bhi paungi.

Neil’s smile faded. Neil looked at Avni who was lost in a thought. They remembered that day.

In the hospital, Neil was standing by carrying his doll in his arms and his parents were standing near him. Neil was looking at the doctor and various thoughts were roaming in his mind. The fear was clearly visible on his face. The doctor smiled.

Doctor: Avni bhi bilkul theek hai.

Neil smiled and his eyes got moist. Neil felt like that he has gotten a new life. Neil smiled widely and others also got happy and emotional.

Neil: sach?

The doctor smiled and nodded. Neil was smiling with moist eyes.

Doctor: Ji. Filhal Avni behosh hai. Jald hi usay hosh ajayega.

Neil nodded.

Doctor: dekh lijiye, Mr Khanna, maine bina aap ko uljhan main dale Maa aur Bachi, dono ko bacha liya.

Neil smiled.

Doctor: ab to aap ne mujhe mauf kar diya hoga na.

Neil smiled.

Neil: aap ka to mujh per ehsaan ho gaya hai. Main zindagi bhar aap ka ehsanmand rahunga.

The doctor smiled.

They smiled. The doctor went and Neil and others looked at the baby.

Shweta: Yeh to bilkul Avni ke jaisi hai.

Neil smiled. Neil kissed the cheek of his princess and they smiled.

Later, Avni was laying on the bed of the hospital and she stirred. Avni looked up and her head was spinning. She felt a pain in her body and she squeezed her eyes and frowned.  Avni looked at the roof and kept her hand on her belly. Avni felt her belly flat and she looked at it. Avni was shocked.

Avni: Mera bacha.

Avni was shocked and she thought. Avni remembered about her surgery. Avni looked here and there and she didn’t see her baby. Avni was shocked.

Avni: mera bacha. Mera bacha kahan hai?

Avni thought. A nurse came there and Avni saw that.

Nurse: Aap ko hosh agaya.

Avni: Mera, mera baby kahan hai?

Nurse: relax, aap ka baby aap ki family ke pass hai.

Avni looked on and her eyes were glassy. The nurse smiled.

Nurse: Aap ke husband ka pura irada hai aap ke baby ko bigarne ka.

Avni was surprised.

Nurse: kab se usay godh main le kar bethe hain.

Avni smiled.

The nurse nodded and said, hmm. Avni smiled.

Later, Avni was laying on the bed and her eyes were closed. The door opened and Avni opened her eyes. Avni saw Neil who was looking at the baby. Avni smiled to see them and she got emotional because her dream came true. Neil looked at Avni and smiled. Neil came to Avni and he made the baby lay beside Avni. Avni saw her baby and she smiled with moist eyes. Avni took her baby’s hand in her hand and she caressed it. Avneil looked at each other and they were smiling. They looked at the baby. Avni kissed the hand of her daughter. Avneil looked at each other. Neil caressed Avni’s hair and face and then he kissed her forehead.

Avni smiled. They looked at the baby and they smiled.

Avni: Maine kaha tha na aap se, baby, main aap ko is duniya main laa kar rahungi.

Neil looked at Avni.

Avni: dekho maine apna promise pura kiya.

Avneil smiled. Avni looked at Neil and she thought.

Avni: Aap bohat lucky ho, baby ke aap ke papa Neil Khanna hain.

Neil looked on.

Avni: Jo aap ko bohat pyaar karenge. Aap ki kismat Mama ke jaisi nahi hogi. Papa aap ko bohat pyaar karenge.

Avni thought. Avneil looked at each other. Neil smiled and Avni smiled with moist eyes. They looked at the baby.

Avni smiled.

Neil: Main chahta hun yeh tumhari tarha bane.

Avni was smiling and she looked at her baby.

Neil: bus ek cheeze tumhare jaisi naa ho.
