It took long, I know. But I had to make sure everything sounded right in my head.

Reader's P.O.V

"He does know he's fucking himself by making that, right?" Jade asked as we both leaned against a tree, watching my brother make a torch out of a large stick and the jacket he was wearing.

After that "delightful" run-in with those thanators, we were now somewhere even deeper in the Pandorian jungle, more in the middle of nowhere than we already were. We've been out here for ours and since this was Pandorian territory untouched by humans, without the necessary survival skills, we wouldn't make it by morning. And the animals looking for a midnight snack knew it too.

"Probably not." I replied.

"Hey, Fucking Himself, can hear you, you know?" Jake said before walking over to a tree nearby and dipping the torch into the tree sap dripping from it.

"Good. That should be telling you something. " Jade said.

"Like stop making that torch?" I sheepishly smiled before the sound of a baby crying hit my ears. Wait a minute... A baby?!

"Do you guys hear that?" I asked, looking around.

"You mean your woodland creatures that are going to be picking their teeth with our bones if we don't get out of here?" Jake said, earning a glare from me.

"Stop being a smart-ass and listen!" I snapped.

The three of us quieted down and listened. The sounds of the jungle made it difficult to hear but the cries were heard. I may have a soft spot for children and knowing there was a little one out here alone made my heart pound.

"Is that a baby?" Jade asked with her eyebrows furrowed.

"The hell is a baby doing all the way out- Y/n!!" Jake yelled as I ran in the direction of the cries. The planet pulsated and I heard the voices of it's inhabitants. They were all talking to me, guiding me. The ground glowed with each step I took and I could feel the little one's heartbeat and their cries grew louder as I got closer.

Soon, I came into a clearing full of beautiful flowers and other lush vegetation. The cries were coming from a hole in a tree trunk where someone precious, covered in what appeared to be brown fabric for a baby sling considering it's length and width, was crying her little head off.

She was beautiful. Obviously a native child, no older than a month. Her blue skin was lighter than most but either way looked baby soft. Not much hair except for the little black tuft at the end of her tail and the top of her head, connected to her queue. It looked like she had a little mohawk!

'Hey, hey. What's the matter?' I cooed softly in Na'vi, gently scooping the little one into my arms.

'Hm? Why you fussing?'

I carefully wrapped her in the fabric and adjusted her so that she was in a face-to-face hold. Her cries slowly subsided into whimpers and her teary eyes opened to reveal beautiful yellow jewels. I smiled as they looked up at me.

'There you go. See? Nothing to worry about. Though, I don't blame you.' I gently wiped away her tears.

'Sleeping on the ground sucks. And under a tree, too?' I said nuzzling my nose with hers and grinning when she giggled sweetly. I held her close, feeling my heart melt when she snuggled into my neck and hearing small, little purrs sound from her. I didn't even know Na'vi natives purred but I guess you learn something new everyday.

"Y/n!!" I heard Jake's voice call for me. I looked behind me to see Jade and him come into the clearing. They both had looks of relief when they saw me and walked over but paused when they saw the baby.

"Jesus, there really was a kid out here." Jake said, crouching down slightly and making funny faces, making the little one give a gummy smile and hide her face in my neck.

"Where are her parents?" Jake asked.

"I don't know but when we find them I'm giving them a talking to of a life time.~" I sang, smiling and not taking my eyes off of my-- I'm mean the baby.

"Uh, I think you mean talking to of an afterlife time." Jade said. Both Jake and I looked to where she was to see her standing at the edge of a cliff, looking down. We both walked over and couldn't believe our eyes at what we saw.

Two bodies of natives, one male and female, laying sprawled out against the ground practically blown to bits. I shield the baby from the gruesome sight. I had a painful feeling those two were her parents and judging by how the blood looks, this didn't happen too long ago.

"Are those bullet wounds? The facility comes all the way out here?" Jade asked and I shook my head.

What the hell are you assholes planning?

"There's nothing we can do about it now. Let's just focus on getting out of here." Jake said and for once he was right. I handed the baby over to Jade so I could prepare the baby sling. I took the fabric, folding and tying it in a certain way so that it was over the shoulder and that the baby would be resting against my back.

"How do you know how to tie a baby sling?" Jade asked, placing the little one in the sling.

"Well, when your first job ever is babysitting, you learn a thing or two. Now, let's go before we become somebody's--" I cut myself off when something resembling the sound of a hyena's laugh was heard. I let out an exasperated sigh and stared hopelessly at the sky.

"Well, ain't that just a son of a bitch..."

"What? What was that?" Jade asked, snapping her head in the direction of when something whirled by.

"A viperwolf." I answered plainly. First we had to deal with two thanators and now this? What the hell Pandora?

Howls and whimpering barks echoed in the night and judging by how they resonated from all around, there was more than one. There was always more than one. Why can't anything be fucking easy for once?!

"Uh, y/n, you're the animal expert. We're gonna need a little more than that!" Jake yelled and fumbled with a pack of matches, struggling to light the torch.

"They sort of look like thanators, only they're smaller, have six legs, and more-so resemble a dog. They're lean, light on their feet, quick, and worst of all..." I trailed off as Jake managed to finally light the torch on fire and swung it around, making the multiple and pissed off viperwolves hiss as they were brought into the light.

"They hunt in packs."

I instinctively reached a hand behind me in protection of my baby. The last thing I wanted to do  was to hurt something just because it was doing what it was born to do but then again, I didn't wanna die either. Not when I had a bet to win!

The viperwolves circled us, looking for an opening to attack but their aggression wasn't towards me. To my surprise, a few came up to me, sniffed me and my baby before sitting down with their tails wagging. I released a breath I didn't know I was holding, feeling relief that I wasn't going to become somebodies dinner... Wish I could say that for Jake and Jade, though. 

I appreciate them being a good little brother and best friend but did they really have to smack one of the viperwolves with the flaming end of the torch and slice another with a knife I didn't even know she had?

The whole pack began snarling and growling at the two. As some slowly stalked towards them, others stayed by me like they were guarding me. A viperwolf lunged at Jake from behind but he was quick to turn around and send it tumbling to the ground with a single swing of the torch. Another tried an aerial attack from the trees, only to be met with the sharp end of the stick... Literally. 

The poor thing left whimpering and impaled, almost taking the torch with it.  

Jade fended off the viperwolves coming for her with her knife and Jake quickly whipped out his. I cringed and flinched with each yelp or whine I heard but then gasped when a viperwolf tackled Jake to the ground. He struggled to hold it back as it snapped at his face but managed to gain the upper hand and pin it to the ground. He raised is hand to stab it but that was before an arrow pierced it's side, killing it.    

A native woman leaped out of the trees with a bow & arrow in hand. We all watched in awe as she fought off the rest of the viperwolves shooting arrows, using her bow as a melee weapon, and stabbing one after it tried tackling her. 

I hated to see it but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed. She didn't fool around and I respected that. 

The native woman hissed at the viperwolves as they ran off. Some were reluctant to leave but one nod from me sent them with the rest of their pack. The native woman snapped her attention towards Jake, Jade and I before looking at the still flaming torch on the ground. She grumbled something in her language, picked it up and walked over to a small body of water.  

"Hey, wait. Don't!" Jake yelled but it was too late. She threw it into the water, distinguishing it. I shook my head before walking over to Jake and Jade and checking them over. They were a bit shaken up with a few scratches but they'll live.  

"You two alright?" I asked. 

"We're good?" Jade answered. 

"How's the kid?" Jake asked and Jade walked behind me to check the sling. 

"She's drop dead asleep."  

"What? She slept through all of that?" I said in slight disbelief.   

"Apparently so. I mean you did just--" Jade was cut off by the sound of whimpering. I turned my head in the direction of the native woman to see her kneeling beside an injured viperwolf. I was quick to make my way over and kneeled on the opposite side of her. She watched me with cautious eyes as I ran my hands gently over the viperwolf's body. There was an arrow sticking out of it's side.  

'The injury isn't fatal. I can save it.' I spoke in Na'vi and immediately got to work. I could feel the native's eyes burning into my head as I ripped a piece of my shirt and told Jade to soak it in the small body of water. I gently dabbed the cloth around the wound and gently petted the viperwolf's head, hearing it's painful whimpers but then it began to struggle when I placed my hands on the arrow.

'Hold it down.' I instructed and watched as the native woman firmly pressed her hand on the animal's neck and the other on it's thigh. I counted in my head and yanked the arrow out with a single tug. I cringed at the viperwolf's loud agonizing yelp of pain and quickly placed the cloth back on the open wound.  

Jake went off to fetch the torch from the water, soon coming back and crouching a little ways away from us. Jade was behind me watching from over my shoulder.   

"Look, I know you probably don't understand this, but thank you." Jake said making me fight back a growl. His inconsiderateness and thick skull never ceased to piss me off.  

"Jake, shut up and hand me that leaf over there. Jade, a piece of that healing rose and two rocks while you're at it!" I snapped glaring at my younger brother as they both left for my requested items. When they came back, I placed the medium sized leaf on the ground next to me. I placed the healing rose on one of the rocks and used the other to scrape it until it became a fine paste. I took some onto my fingers and it's bioluminescence coated them in a vibrant blue.  

The thing about a healing rose is that all pain is instant relief. You can thank Grace for the flora lesson and seeing the viperwolf more comfortable relieved me. I wrapped the leaf over the animal's wound like a bandage and then moved it to a safe spot under a tree so it could rest. 

"Rest and you'll be back on your feet in no time." I softly said, stroking the viperwolf's head. It purred and affectionally licked my hand before laying down. I smiled and went back to the group. The native woman was now standing and stared at me as I walked up to her. 

'They'll pull through. Should be back in it's pack shortly.'

The woman's hard yellow eyes softened and an appreciative smile grew on her face.  

"You have saved it." She said in perfect English which surprised me. She got up and began to leave. 

"Thank you."
