S O R E N
Soren entered the hospital room that he had been in when he was paralyzed, finding General Amaya still wrapped in bandages around her waist. She was sleeping, most likely, the white and grey bed reflecting the light that beamed wickedly through the window.
He almost snorted out loud on command when a wave of nostalgia washed over him, holding his breath while pinching his nose taking a deep breath approaching the bed towards her.
"How long until she gets better?" He asked the nurse.
The nurse was the doctor who had broken the news to Claudia that Soren could have been paralyzed for the rest of his life (but um... that didn't happen) a few weeks back, he assumed. She looked up from her clipboard as she adjusted her glasses. It seemed as if she was going for a smile but faded with a punch to the stomach as her vision was cleared.
"We're not quite sure. She's been in a coma for a week now..."
A week?
Wait.
How did a week already pass?
Soren looked at the calendar next to the clipboard, only to have is eyes feast on bolded woods glaring at him:
Subject: Aunt Amaya
System: Unknown
Distress: Unknown
Physical Injuries: Sunforge blade wound
Other: Unknown
Soren threw his hands up, asking, "Wait, wait, wait, what?! How do you not know anything?"
She shook her head as she shrugged. "We don't know the reason behind why she's been under a coma for this period of time. The General may not be able to wake anytime soon."
"No, wait!" He said, but his only reply was a door shutting in front of him.
He looked at her, finding that she looked just so... peaceful when she slept.
Soren then mentally slapped himself, scolding, She's under a freaking coma!
Instead, he got out a couple of blankets from the shelves and placed it next to Amaya's feet, finding a small message beside her boots.
We'll find it soon. I promise you.
Signed,
Callum.
"Hold up," he muttered to himself, wiping his eyes for clarification.
Signed,
Callum.
Soren tried wiping the excess dust next to the boots, but it read the same thing.
Signed,
Callum.
Callum?!
How much did he even know?
Actually, what was it that he knew? Was it some sort of Dark Magic potion? Or maybe a weapon that was used to finally defeat the powers of dark magic itself?

After Callum cleaned up the next morning, he found a small package with a note attached beside the box in front of his doorstep- he checked the date. He had gotten this a few days ago and didn't notice.
Dearest Callum,
It's your Aunt, Amaya!
Unfortunately, I will not be coming to visit. And I don't believe I will be available anytime soon.
Recently, both Soren and I were attacked by Janai, the Sunfire elf that fought with me during the battle. While Janai and I were traveling through Xadia, we recently learned of a new plant that looked much like a blade, it was black and red that was boiling with what appeared to be acid and lava near the cliffs- however, while we were venturing out, Janai happened to bring that in a glass jar. I've come to the conclusion that excessive exposure to that plant can cause one's brain to "malfunction," as you would call it.
It reveals other instincts that wouldn't be normal for their adaption- I think that they may reveal one's true actions. I ask a very dangerous favor of you that I cannot have you telling anyone else- find the cure. I too have been starting to feel different as well.
Sometimes I am unaware of the passing time. When I think one day has passed in reality it has been two weeks. Other times I hear voices whispering in my head and see things in which I know cannot be there. Knowing that you are indeed a mage, if we found the plant beside the lava cliffs, the cure may have to do with another element that may be in the skies or the seas- you must venture this alone. Knowing that you are a mage, we know that is your "true another half" so you are automatically not influenced by this virus.
Your other half would be the mage side of you- so, therefore, I need you to find a way to sneak out alone. You are the only one who cannot be affected, we cannot risk anyone else getting this virus.
I'm trusting you.
With love,
Aunt Amaya.
At first, he was confused. What was going on? Why was this disease so bad?
What caught his mind the most was that he couldn't tell Rayla- she meant everything to him, how was he just supposed to sneak off? There obviously had to be another way. If there wasn't, what was he supposed to do?
Did Aunt Amaya just expect him to know how to get his way around Xadia? And what about the soul fangs?
He took the small, tiny brown package as he found a map inside- a map of Xadia. He just about guessed his Aunt knew just about everything about him, how bad he was at finding his way around...
But that wasn't important! What matters is that he finds the cure and everything would go back to normal. He could just leave after dark, around midnight?
He wasn't sure, there wasn't much he could do-
But he could do his best.
After a few hours, he stumbled out of his bed as he slung his bag over his shoulder, fixing his hair to stand up from his scalp. He ripped out a page from his sketchbook, writing a quick note explaining all the information to where he would be at what time if Rayla was ever wondering.
Callum slid on his fingerless gloves and slowly opened the door with a moaning creak as he started on his journey.
Don't forget to vote! It lets me know you're reading ^^
