Creatures who drink blood from their prey, leaving the body to turn to dust. Unlike what most people may think, there is multiple kinds of vampires.

The latter two can hide among humanity or steal away and hide away from it, it all depends on affiliations and such. You see, there are clans, cults and packs, each of which differs in its system, and each separate one within those kinds differs further.

Bloodsuckers are actually a kind of demon and is where the myth that all vampires are 'deathly allergic' to holy artifacts comes from as such articles are killer for them. No matter how pure your soul is, if tainted by one of these, there is little chance of you becoming anything but a Bloodsucker after death, such is the curse their fangs bring. If they have not eaten within a month, they lose much of their strength and go into a hunger frenzy in which they feed on whatever they can find, even if it causes them further harm. After two months of starvation, it is rare to find one still alive instead of as a pile of dust.

The 'Common Vampire', while not necessarily getting turned to ash, generally would have either a sun allergy or just be so pale that they burn far too easily, though the former is much rarer. Unlike their demonic counterparts, they are just like any other person, being good or bad is up to them and this half-lie about them not being able to go into sunlight is a way to possibly deter anyone who may initially suspect that they are a drinker of blood. The ability to turn into a bat or cat or anything else is only such if they themselves have that power as it is not a species-wide ability.

There is a subset of the 'Common Vampire' that must feed on human blood once a month lest they lose their powers. This sub-species is the only one that dies almost immediately in direct sunlight but that is if they have not fed from a human within the last month. Also, their saliva contains both a hormonal distracter of sorts and a clotting composition. This is because they tend to claim one human as theirs and use them as a continual food source. This in turn can aid them with hiding if they are roommates with this person or something such as that.

These creatures are one of the few known to mark their mates, ensuring that no other vampires can claim them without their consent, which is rare.

Most choose to turn their mate, if they have one, or any human who has discovered them that is not very useful, so long as doing so aids them and or their group. Unlike a Bloodsucker, if the other vampire types wish to turn a person, an exchange of blood must be done.

As legends go, these creatures are immortal, though some things will harm them. Such as a strong blow to the heart. However, garlic only affects one of they had a garlic allergy as a mortal.

An interesting fact is the naming ritual. Should one such to tradition, they will choose a vampire name after changing, one that usually contains the same suffix as they're creator, the vampire that turned them. For instance, in my vampire life, my name was Lenaliamir Because the suffix of my creator was 'amir'. It is why my children were called 'Elisiandramir' and 'Vladamir'. It is uncommon for two vampires to marry but, should it happen, their creations will keep their suffix while one of the vampires changes theirs to match.
