Hearing little crickets in the night, it's surprisingly bright still. Being in Spring and having had an extremely long day.

Passing a pandemic was one thing, but now that things were starting to open up, all the members were happy to see their fans once again after such a long time.

They were put on schedule. Four fan meetings in different places.

They just had their first. Although hard to get back into, it was worth it.

Lots of gifts and wholesome letters from fans that every one of them appreciated.

There was one tiny hiccup. They got a lot of food, but put on a strict schedule to get back into it. So sadly, the food was left saved.

But although they usually kept their rules, Namjoon and Yoongi were both far too stubborn to say no to a few snacks.

Thus, staying up for a few more hours to "look over the lyrics".

This was code for "let's eat what we aren't allowed to".

A classic for Yoongi and Namjoon, and the members knew it. But after all they only had themselves with it.

Yoongi was the only one however with a strange package.

They often got packages of gifts or fragile things, but this one was odd.

It had a smell and it was tightly wrapped with multiple knots of rope. Yoongi already found it quite strange since the girl who gave it only looked down, wore a mask and a Love Yourself hoodie, hiding her nearly entirely.

She only spoke softly and nodded when she gave it to him.

All she said was "please use it alone".

That brings him to the moment of tonight. Where in between all the gifts set aside, Yoongi fishes out a pine scented box.

Jewelry sized, not a sound when he shakes it.

"What's that?"

Yoongi looks up at Namjoon's question. He shrugs.

"A fan gave it to me today. She told me use it alone."

"Alone?" Namjoon frowns. "Maybe she just wants your attention on her gift alone. So you know she adores you."

"That's kind." Yoongi smiles softly. "All of them are."

Namjoon nods, then grins and snatches the box from him.

Yoongi scowls at him, but lets the younger open the small box. To their surprise, it's not a ring. Nor a necklace or a bracelet.

It's... some sort of cake.

Yoongi takes it before Namjoon can, swallowing it at once, teasing the leader with a face.

Namjoon whines, saying he wanted it.

Yoongi hums at the taste, only making Namjoon more annoyed, teasingly hitting the older on his shoulder.

"This the last one?" He asks. "You eat a lot."

Yoongi nods. "Yeah."

Even with a full mouth, the younger gets up and ready for bed. Namjoon wishes him goodnight as Yoongi returns the words, both moving into their rooms.

Each of them has their own bed, for for the comfort of sleeping they all have a roommate. All but one.

Being with seven means one member sleeps alone.

Namjoon offered to be that person. He was going to ask Yoongi, but him and Seokjin had already met up with their luggage.

Namjoon has nothing to worry about when going inside, but is met with two lonely made double beds, an open window, and a bright starry night.

He crawls into bed and sighs, spreading out starfish style under the blankets, rubbing his eyes and ruffling his hair.

His heart pounds in his chest. In the silence of the night, and the sound of the open fridge, and the soft chewing and slurping of their food, Namjoon has learned a lot about Yoongi.

It made him realize his emotions for the older. He thought it was protection and care, but as a foolish kid he had already realized what love felt like.

He was a fool for not noticing it earlier.

Not that he hides his relationships. He's a very open man, very talkative and emotional with others he likes.

He's been very open about his relationships with the members, even those of himself with another man.

It stirred some trouble with some of the members, but no real struggles. If ARMY found out their leader was bisexual, it would stir some drama. Especially in the Korean community and with BigHit, getting them into major trouble.

But Namjoon was alright with it. He was open enough, told them all about his past relationships and experiences in the hopes to make them wiser and learn them something.

But it's gotten to a point where Namjoon has realized his feelings for Yoongi. It hasn't helped him ignore them either.

Turning to his side, he sighs, slowly falling asleep.

The members have some plans tomorrow, and him and Yoongi will be alone to take care of the dorm and work on a new song.

°•●•°

"Don't forget to vacuum, dust the kitchen, clean the pots when you used them before putting them in the dishwasher, put the laundry in, setting two, TWO, not three, and...--"

"I got it hyung." Namjoon chuckles.

Seokjin has always been a little worried for him. And the stuff around the house.

Namjoon doesn't cook often but when he does, he's usually supervised.

Taehyung and Jimin are about to leave. Taehyung's dad is picking them up for a day at the farm.

Jungkook is meeting with his sister for shopping.

And Seokjin is going to his parents with his brother for their anniversary, taking Hoseok as a plus one.

Yoongi and Namjoon stayed planless.

Waving everyone out, The door shuts with Seokjin leaving last, waving back at him and locking the door.

Namjoon is left standing in front of the door for a bit. Thinking, what can he do?

Yoongi is still asleep, so he can't start working on the beat. Maybe he can work on some lyrics...

°•●•°

Soft sniffles, soft touches, soft bed...

Yoongi's eyes are barely open, but focused on what he hears and feels. He doesn't remember being able to hear footsteps from outside the room, or to be able to smell the burning oil and smell from kimchi.

His blanket seems a lot fuzzier than normal, but he doesn't complain.

Until he hears something fall. It shatters in his ears, a wave of chills running down his spine.

He shoots up and covers his ears, complaining about the noise that doesn't seem to die down.

When he covers his ears more, he feels around. He gets confused, feeling around even more. He doesn't get it... Where are his ears?

He feels around, flinching and pulling his hands away when he feels something warm and fuzzy. It twitches, and he can feel it twitch both as it twitches and his touch to it.

Taking a quiet breath, he goes to feel around again, up the fuzzy part, resisting the urge to pull back from the twitching and moving it does.

He grabs onto it, screaming and letting go when it throbs and hurts.

He gets out of bed and runs into the bathroom, tired of not knowing what it is.

He doesn't even have to get in front of the mirror. Halfway into the bathroom he freezes in his steps.

He's pretty sure he didn't used to have those big furry ears on top of his head.

Pointy, twitching, and now slowly falling down. Yoongi's heart picks up pace. They're... They're real.

The door slams open and Yoongi hears his name, but he can't find his voice over his thoughts.

It must be a dream. He must be dreaming.

"Hyung? I heard you scream, where are you?"

Without a word, Namjoon turns the corner, finding the older, but freezes.

Slapping himself a few times, Namjoon is sure he's awake too. Is that his hyung? Where... where is human him?

"H-hyung... Are you okay?"

Yoongi gulps, finding his voice quietly and shaking his head. "No... I'm not..."

"W-what happened? Why do you look like a fox?! What happened to your--"

"Quiet." Yoongi mutters, grabbing his hair, the only remaining part of his human body, and crouching down. "Quiet..."

Namjoon's never seen Yoongi like this. An animal, hybrid, creature... So upset and distressed.

The human was gone. He looked like a human from his body, with arms and chest and legs in the same place. But everything is covered in a big layer of fur. His face is morphed, a snout with big eyes and big pointed ears.

Namjoon kneels down and hesitantly pulls the older in for a hug, which, surprisingly, Yoongi accepts wholeheartedly.

Whatever happened, this isn't a dream. Yoongi, by some weird thing, had become this animal. A very... soft animal.

Namjoon sighs, staring at the older. His fluffy ears are as black as his hair, ending in soft crystal grey tips. The inside is a soft pink, but because of the fluff it's barely visible.

His tail, snout, and limbs have a similar color. Going from black, to crystal grey. The fade is completely natural and soft, with some darker strokes of fur and a lighter stomach area.

"What happened...?"

"I don't know."

"Did you--"

"I don't know anything, Namjoon." Yoongi cuts him off. "I woke up this way apparently... I have no idea what happened or why this happened."

Namjoon gulps. "Maybe it's in the family?"

Yoongi immediately grabs his phone and dials his mom, putting it on speaker.

It rings a few times before its picked up.

"Hello honey--!"

"Mom, is there something you never told me?"

"What?"

"Mom. Please." Yoongi whimpers. "I'm... a fox of some sort."

"A fox? What do you mean? Holly?"

"Mom, a literal animal!" Yoongi grits his teeth. "I have fuzzy ears and a tail right now and my body is warm and hairy and I have paws! PAWS!"

Namjoon gently takes his phone, smiling at him.

"Miss, hello, this is Namjoon."

"Ah! Joon-ah!"

"Yes, hello." Namjoon chuckles a bit. "I've only just walked in. Hyung's words are not quite the joke. He really does look like a fox. We both don't know what happened and we were wondering if you could tell us if you had seen this before in the family."

There is a long silencen Yoongi's ears fall down with fear and disappointment, tail not moving an inch.

"I'm sorry... That's weird. Can you send me a picture? No, our family has nothing with whatever that is."

"Of course. Thank you."

"Any time. Love you!"

"Love you too mom..."

Yoongi's voice is soft, face down, even when Namjoon makes and sends the picture. No results at all.

The source of Yoongi's strange transformation remains unknown.

It's worrying. Especially when the older suddenly pulls Namjoon in for a hug. Initiating it. Wanting it.

"Are you okay?" Namjoon asks softly.

"No. In not." Yoongi whimpers. His tail sways to the other side, his ears dropping even more. "I'm an animal, Nammie... A fox."

"But you're so cute!"

Yoongi looks up at him, his ears perking up a bit. "What?"

Namjoon's cheeks burn red. He didn't mean to say that. "W-well... You are?"

Yoongi's lips pull into a soft sheepish half-smile. He looks away. "I'm not cute. I'm a predator."

From Yoongi's mouth comes a small quiet little growl. It's not threatening. Just a cute tease.

Namjoon smiles at him. "Maybe it's temporary... Let's just go find some things to do in the mean time."

Yoongi looks down at his paws. They're still fingers, all give present, but a bit thicker with very small soft pads and claws.

The thing is, other than sharpened senses and the strange way his hands and feet and snout are, he feels the same.

He still has fluffy black hair and his fur shows the attitude.

He looks up at the human in front of him. "Am I not...scary? Or weird? I mean, the furry community will go wild." He chuckles a little. "Wild..."

Namjoon looks at him, eyes wide. "Hyung. Stop."

"What?"

"You made a joke... And it made sense!"

Yoongi's ears curiously tilt up. "I did?"

Namjoon nods and smiles. "Do you wanna go out? Or do a vlive to show everyone your new looks?"

Yoongi shakes his head. "What if its temporary? I don't want Army to worry about this."

Namjoon nods. "Would you like to go for a hike then? Just us two?"

"Won't anyone see us?"

"Put on a hat and a coat and a mark and no one will notice a thing."

"A mask?" Yoongi rolls his eyes. "With this?" He points at his snout.

Namjoon smiles sheepishly. "Sorry... Then I'll hide you!"

Yoongi's ears tilt, looking away. A hike sounds nice... He nods and gives him a shy grin.

"Let's go for a hike."

°•●•°

Namjoon looks at Yoongi. His smile has been there for a while now. Yoongi seemed so fascinated by all the smells and sounds, he took off just to take a look at the bird who was tweeting differently from others.

Namjoon doesn't care that Yoongi looks like this. Sure it's strange, but his hyung is still his hyung.

And even as the day passes by, the worry of it being permanent has not once struck them.

Just playing around was their goal.

But at the end of the day, when Yoongi was exhausted from a day of fun, he'd fallen asleep. Leaning against Namjoon as the younger judt watched a movie.

Softly stroking his hair amd watching as his ears twitches and his tail flinched every now and then, a deep breath and muscles relaxing against him.

When the door opens, one by one the members come strolling in. Hour after hour.

The first being Jungkook. The youngest was tired and grumpy, but had a smile on his face.

Without a glance he went to his room to change clothing into something more comfortable, before joining Namjoon in the living room.

At first nothing was wrong. All he saw were his two hyungs. Until he got a closer look.

Namjoon notices his stare, just smiling and nodding. Jungkook gets it as a "ask later" moment, and returns a nod.

Seokjin and Hoseok were next, going to change as well and saying a hello and asking about the day before going to the kitchen to cook dinner.

Neither saw the fox.

Lastly, Jimin and Taehyung came home. Jimin went to change, but Taehyung was the first to immediately notice.

"What happened to Yoongles?"

Yoongi's ears twitch before dropping, a tiny yawn passing his lips and he stretches his arms, groaning and bumping his head against Namjoon's shoulder.

Seokjin jumps from the kitchen. "What?! What did you do to him?!"

Taehyung shrugs. "I don't remember that."

Namjoon hushes them, quietly stroking Yoongi's fur. The fox sighs, looking down at his paws. He overheard it.

He hides a bit as the members come to look, each one letting out a gasp after the other.

Namjoon just rubs his back and arms, comforting him as much as possible. Yoongi huffs and whimpers.

"Since when did you openly become a furry, hyung?" Jungkook asks softly, flinching when Yoongi snarls a growl at him, baring his teeth.

Jungkook squeaks and falls back, whimpering at the noise and staring wide-eyes as his hyung's canines bare back.

Those are not cosplay...

"Yoongi!! Why did you--?!"

"Do not call me a furry." Yoongi snarls, only further proving his point by crossing his arms. "I'm not."

Taehyung helps Jungkook up, still staring at Yoongi's new furry exterior. He honestly thinks it's cute. The large and intimidating look makes him much less likely to be denied, in fear of getting bitten by those nasty sharp teeth.

But strangely, he sits close to Namjoon. Everyone else he snarls to or snaps at, but when it's Namjoon he suddenly becomes soft.

Jungkook gulps, looking down. "I didn't... I don't know what happened... So I thought maybe--"

"You could have looked before." Yoongi growls. "I have as many muscles in my face as I did before and I can use my jaw just as well. So watch your words."

"Hey, calm down." Namjoon grumbles, patting Yoongi's leg. "We don't need people dying."

Seokjin frowns. "Him calm down?! He should apologize! You hurt Jungkook!"

"I see no blood." Yoongi growls, getting up. "As long as I smell the fear, I'm satisfied."

Namjoon pulls his tail, grabbing Yoongi back, only seeing him turn at him with blazing anger and pull his tail away.

Even Namjoon is getting annoyed. "Let's leave it be. Maybe tomorrow this will all be over."

Seokjin huffs and takes Jungkook from Taehyung's hands, taking him to the bathroom to path the scratch on his arm.

Yoongi nods, growls, and goes to his room, slamming the door shut.

The sound echoes, having Hoseok hesitantly sitting down besides their leader.

Namjoon runs his hands through his hair as the remaining members comfort him and ask what was going on.

Explaining the story, Namjoon had only hope.

°•●•°

The very next day, Yoongi refuses to come out of his room, still stuck up and mad with the two members who blamed him.

Rightfully so, he admits, but he just doesn't want the blame given so easily, seeing as all the pain and discomfort he went through smelling their dirty laundry and fear of him upon arrival.

Namjoon hesitantly comes inside, hearing the fox grumble a "go away".

"It's me..."

The tail that pokes out from the blanket slowly starts wagging. He's still upset.

Namjoon has no idea what to do. He's never seen a fox, let go ever had one or dealt with one.

His mind is all over the place, trying to figure out how to fix this tension between the members and Yoongi.

Sitting on his bed, Namjoon finds Yoongi's head under the blankets, gently petting him.

"You can't stay here forever." He says softly. "Sure they werem't right to make such jokes about your appearance, but you shouldn't have attacked."

"I didn't attack." Yoongi growls. "I was defensive."

"You hurt Jungkook, that's what this is about. You feel like what you did was right, but it wasn't. Neither of you were, and staying here won't make things better!"

Yoongi growls. "I don't care."

"Don't lie, I know you care. Don't you want to play games with Kookie anymore? Or cook with Jin?"

The fox huffs and throws the blanket off, crossing his arms. "Well they sure won't want to!"

"Because you're panicking and worried!" Namjoon sighs. "Please Yoongi, if you need to be this fed up with a simple apology, than don't bother with lyrics. We know you write hate lyrics when mad."

Yoongi's scowl softens a bit. He's right about that. He slowly lets his arms fall in thought and sighs, hearing the door shut closed as the younger leaves him alone again.

He doesn't want to admit fault. He doesn't see the wrong. He was defending himself! Who can take him wrong for that...?

But even Namjoon sees it... Is he really being so selfish?

He looks down at his paws, rubbing over the small pink pads. Sensitive, but like fingertips.

He feels at his teeth. Canines, sharp yet slotted together like a fitting puzzle.

He groans, falling back and rolling around, curling into a ball. He's scared. Scared of the judgement of his fans, his friends, his family. Him being this way is new and frustrating.

He's warm all the time, he's fuzzy. Every strand of fur is sensitive and he wants to eat.

He hasn't eaten anything yet. He doesn't want the stuff he usually likes.

Sighing again, he closes his eyes in thought.

°•●•°

Namjoon shakes his head at the older. He does not agree with him.

It's three against three.

Voted for if Yoongi should be the one in the single room.

Jimin, Jungkook, and Seokjin agreed.

Namjoon, Hoseok, and Taehyung disagreed.

"He's dangerous! What if he eats you at night?!" Seokjin snaps.

"He doesn't eat humans! He's still Yoongi!" Hoseok snaps back.

"Exactly! Someone just needs to watch him!" Taehyung nods.

Jungkook huffs. "And kill you all. Don't whine if you die!"

"How can you see Yoongi hyung for a killer beast?! All for hurting you once?! He was being defensive, he said so himself!!" Namjoon shouts angrily. "Hyung is still our hyung!"

Seokjin steps forward, getting closer to his space. "Do you want him to hurt us again? Why would you want him to stay?!"

"Because I love him!" Namjoon screams. "I don't want him gone and I don't care how he looks!"

Silence.

Namjoon pants, clenching his fists as he turns away with a loud annoyed yell, slamming the door shut.

Angry, frustrated, sad, overwhelmed.

He can't stand it. All these emotions rushing through his body. Protecting Yoongi, punishing Yoongi, comforting Yoongi, scolding Yoongi.

He can't decide.

It's too much for him.

The door opens and a pair of hands grab his shoulders.

"Come back inside." Jimin mumbles. "Forget it..."

"No."

Namjoon's tone has reached a new level of stern. Tense, wavering, shaky.

"Just leave me be."

"We had no idea, we're sorry!--"

"I AM NOT THE ONE TO APOLOGIZE TOO!!" Namjoon screams. "YOONGI IS THE ONE WHO NEEDS IT!!"

Jimin flinches and gets back. "But... He did--"

"He didn't do it on purpose." Namjoon sighs. "He thinks he's right because of it. But think about how this must be for him. A new body, new feelings, instincts and a will and the strength to survive. He never wanted to hurt Jungkook... He just felt threatened."

Jimin gulps, watching Namjoon turn the corner, heading to the park.

Alone, without a mask, or his phone...

Jimin turns back inside with a sigh, feeling sad as he tells the others what Namjoon said and where he's headed to.

°•●•°

It hadn't been late when Namjoon left, but it got dark so quickly he can't remember what time he got so upset.

There was a park nearby the place they stayed at. He can't remember the turns he made, but they sure were a lot.

It was scary in one way. Being so alone...

He shakes his head, deciding to head back. Nearing the end of the park, he flinches when a pair of hands tap his shoulder.

"Excuse me, sir?"

Namjoon turns around, revealing a smaller boy.

"Oh, hello." Namjoon smiles at him. "Where are your parents?"

The boy points outside of the park. "I saw you and I... I just wanted to give you this!"

The boy bows, handing him a small box before running out of the park. Namjoon calls to him, but he sees them turning away.

He looks down at the small box. It looks like the one Yoongi got, or at least the same size. A little bigger than a jewelry box.

He smiles a little and stuffs it in his pocket, going back to the house they're staying in.

°•●•°

Shutting the door quietly, Namjoon tiptoes to his room. Or at least, tries to.

In the living room is a single light on right beside the couch. Seokjin looks at him and smiles, getting up to greet his friend.

"We were worried, you know." He says softly. "All of us."

Namjoon looks at him, nodding. "I know. I just needed some space."

"We all do sometimes. It was wrong of us to accuse and yell or judge. We don't know what happened or what it felt like. It was on us, not on you, and we never should have aimed it anyway. We all failed in this."

Seokjin gives him a chuckle. "Now go to Yoongi. He's been whining and crying."

Namjoon sighs. "I scolded him before leaving. I shouldn't have..."

Seokjin gives him a slight nudge. "Just go."

He turns off the lights and waves Namjoon goodnight, leaving their conversation peacefully.

Namjoon sees the window wide open. It's quite cold. He goes to sit on the second bed, taking out the package.

He plays a bit with it in his hands. Should he? It looks nearly identical to Yoongi's of a few days before.

Maybe... this caused it?

He opens the box and sure enough, there is a cake inside. It smells the same, it feels the same.

Yoongi stirs, tail flicking annoyed at the scent.

Namjoon eats it with no hesitation, laying the box at the nightstand before laying besides Yoongi.

As soon as the blankets are lifted, Yoongi's paws have wrapped around Namjoon's waist. Soft whines coming from him.

"You came back..."

"Of course I did." Namjoon chuckles, pulling the older in to sleep comfortably. "How can I leave you alone..."

Yoongi huffs. "I heard... what you yelled before you left."

Namjoon hums a little. "What did you think of it?"

The fox shrugs. "I don't know... I'm not that surprised, but I'm also shocked. I'm scared, but also curious. Intimidated and intrigued..."

"I won't force you into loving me, hyung. That's all on you. Just know that I do, and what you want is my priority."

Yoongi snuggles his face into Namjoon's neck, a small happy squeak heard.

"Thank you Nammie."

°•●•°

It's never been more comfortable. Namjoon confirmed his suspicion. He could barely sleep, anticipating what would happen.

Yoongi had slept comfortably on him, not noticing a thing.

But once Namjoon fell asleep, he woke up different. He wasn't surprised, but he was curious at the feeling.

Things had been changed. His instincts and protection over Yoongi had increased. But he was warm, comfortable and happy.

He chuckles a bit at Yoongi's stirring, hearing tiny whines and yawns. He feels Yoongi grabbing at his hips to pull him closer, but he shoots up as soon as the scent hits him.

He looks at where he grabbed, following the trail of brown and beige colored fur up to Namjoon's big smile.

A smile full of canine teeth and bright yellow eyes.

"Goodmorning little fox."

Yoongi's jaw dropped, stammering to speak. His heart pounds, quickly getting closer to him.

"Morning... How?"

Namjoon nudges at the box. "I had my suspicions."

"But what if it's permanent?"

"Then I'll be happy enough."

Yoongi smiles and chuckles a bit, pressing his nose to the younger's, quietly licking his fur.

Namjoon holds onto him, protecting his fox for just a while longer. And Yoongi is completely fine with that.

•=|THE END|=

Questions of the Chapter:

- Why did Yoongi eat the cake?

- Why did Namjoon eat the cake?

- Why did Jungkook and Seokjin get defensive?

- Why would Jimin, Jungkook, and Seokjin be against, but Hoseok, Taehyung and Namjoon agreed on having Yoongi have a roommate?

Not spelling checked.

I haven't forgotten. Just been extremely busy and demotivated. But I'm slowly getting the hang of it again.
