🌷The Spirits🌷
Jimin's POV
The forest, swamps, the ocean, and the ponds. It was mine to protect. I have never failed before, and never will. Not once in my immortal life, I have failed. And I shall never let that happen.
I sighed, opening my eyes to be met with the loving sound of the water around my ears. Softly blue colored scales covered my cheeks bones, shoulders, and hands. "I thank the forest spirits for my rest." I said softly, sitting up.
I shook my head to get the water out of my hair. I stood up, the water dripping from my body. I took a deep breath, greeting the sea critters and thanking them.
I quickly returned to my duty, taking care of the young animals. I looked up quickly, standing up quickly and holding my hand towards the arrow, stopping it in its path.
I hissed angrily, running towards the archer. I pinned him tightly, my spring green with blue eyes piercing through the man his brown ones.
"This is yours, I assume?" I asked lowly, holding the arrow tightly. The man frowned. "And you are?" He asked. His voice was husky and sounded annoyed. He wasn't that much taller than me either. Maybe that was why he shot so low.
"I am no one you should know." I replied. "Why did you shoot my friends?" I hissed. "Am I not allowed to get dinner?" He asked coldly. "Not if it means to hunt them." I spat.
The man scoffed. "Who are you? And what are you?" He asked. "Again, no one you need to know." I replied. The man sighed. "Listen up honey, I don't care if you don't want to tell your name. I want to know why you protected my dinner." He spat back.
"She is not dinner. They are innocent little rabbits!" I yelled, tightening my grip. "Really? Then why can't they just make more baby rabbits?" "It is their mating season. It will take one whole year before they can again. This is a newborn rabbit!" I yelled.
The man rolled his eyes. "Do I look like I care? Now, what are you?" He asked. "I am the protected of the forest. One of the many spirits that has been chosen to take care of this magical land." I answered.
The man chuckled and started laughing. "Yeah right. Just admit that you're dressing up and we can go on with our day. If of course, you let me take my dinner." He said, cocking his eyebrow up at me.
I frowned and pulled him with me rudely. "You may not see me the way that I am towards the forest and its animals, but reflection shows it all." I said softly. The man shook his head in disbelieve. "What is your point boy?"
"Look into the river. You will see what I am. No tricks, no lies." I said lowly. The man sighed and looked into the river, widening his eyes seeing the difference.
"Are you an Elf?!" He asked yelling. I held my finger in front of his lips. "Quiet. The birds are asleep." I whispered. He gulped and nodded. "I am not an Elf, as I said I am a protector. My name is Park Jimin, the protector of the Everwind." I said smiling.
The man stared at me with wide eyes and gave me a friendly nod. "Min Yoongi, hunter of Daegu." He said. I frowned. "If you dare to hunt my friends again I will not even hesitate to punish you."
Yoongi nodded quickly. "But... how is your reflection so different from your appearance that I see? You are so much prettier in that state!" He exclaimed. I frowned disappointedly, looking at my reflection.
"If I truly am, then I must not show." I said quietly. "But why?" He asked. "You can show me, can you not?" He grabbed my shoulders gently. I shook my head. "I heard that humans are attracted by beauty. I have to keep them away from here." I replied, sitting down in the grass.
Yoongi sighed and sat down next to me. He looked into the river, comparing his own reflection with mine. "I wish that I was that handsome. People would look up to me, like me and respect me." He said softly.
"But people will not leave you alone. They will bother you, and ask them to be yours. In your mind, you feel like you are happy and that you can do anything. But in reality, you cannot say no when you want to. You'll be stuck in an endless circle of shame. The only one who you have to escape from are the other spirits. But none of them are near." I said softly.
Yoongi frowned sadly. He looked at my reflection while he carefully traced the outline of my ear. "Why can't I become your friend? Can't I see you in your true state once?" He asked. I shook my head. "It's against the law."
Yoongi sighed frustratingly. "I don't care. I can't just talk to an illusion. Just... for me. One time. That is all I ask. I shall leave your forest alone, I'll never see you again. You have my word." He said lowly.
I shook my head again. "I can't Yoongi. You do not understand the things that they will do to you." "And I just said that I don't care! I'm begging you on my knees Jimin. Literally! I want to see the spirit that I have been talking to. I have to know the true beauty that exists." Yoongi begged.
I sighed. "Yoongi... Stop this. You are human, and I am a spirit. You are even lucky to be able to see me. The most cannot. They wonder what stopped their weapon and run away. Until now, you are the only one who has been able to see me." I said.
Yoongi frowned and stood up. "Jimin, I beg you. Do not leave me with such curiosity. I will find you again, only to try and reveal the same." He said lowly. I sighed and growled, causing Yoongi to widened his eyes. "Like I said. You will not be able to find me again. I will avoid you, unless you hurt my friends."
I stood up, giving him a soft bow and walked away. Yoongi grabbed my shoulder. "Do not leave me like this Jimin." He gritted his teeth. "I'm sorry Yoongi. My friends need me-" "I am your friend!" He yelled.
I sighed. "For the last time. Mortals and immortals cannot be friends. Goodbye, Yoongi." I spat, growling lowly before running back to my friends.
There was a burning pain in my heart as I heard Yoongi call my name. Tears pricked in my eyes as I wiped them away. I can't feel such things for a mortal. I have to keep my head with my job.
I let myself fall on the grass, digging my nails into the dirt as the tears rolled down from my cheeks. Why am I such a weak spirit?
M.YG ☁️
I gritted my teeth, forcing myself to return to Daegu. I was one that could actually see him. So what that these spirits would hurt me? I'm a hunter. I'm strong. I am going to see him again. Tomorrow, or tonight.
I moved my legs towards the library, immediately diving into the category of mythical, hoping to find a book about Jimin. How to communicate with them.
Finally, after three hours of searching, I found a decent book. I sighed, sitting down and began to read.
1: The Spirits.
No that's not it.
2: The life of the Spirits
Not it either...
3: The punishments of the Spirits
Gotcha.
I went to the correct page and quickly began to read, my eyes roaming carefully over the letters.
A Spirit, as explained earlier, is a creature that protects the world. Depending on the crime that they have committed, the mortal or Spirit shall be punished.
Depending on the kind of Spirit, the punishment shall be worse. The Spirit of the Caves, has a weaker punishment than the Spirit of the Forest. For example; if the Spirit of the Caves met a human and showed its form, the punishment shall be towards the Spirit and will not be as bad. Perhaps a month of torture.
But if the Spirit of the Forest does this, the mortal shall be punished. The worst that has happened is that the mortal was forced into the spiritual life, using a painful long transformation.
"What are you reading?" I yelped and closed the book with a loud thud, turning around. "My Lord. Tae! Stop doing that!" I yelled, smacking the back of his head.
Taehyung whined. "But hyung, I was just curious." I sighed and crossed my arms. "Good enough." I growled. Taehyung opened the book to where I was reading and widened his eyes.
"Did you-" "No." I cut him off. "I didn't meet a Spirit. I just thought that maybe one was roaming in our forest. My arrow was magically stopped." I said lowly.
The transformation goes as it is-
"Really?!" Taehyung gasped. I growled. "Let me read Taehyung! I need to know!" I yelled. Taehyung backed away slightly and pouted, nodding sadly. "Alright hyung..."
He sadly walked away, giving me a last glance before leaving. I sighed and continued to read.
I felt a hand on my shoulder as I angrily turned around. "What now?!" "It's eight... We're closing." Namjoon said smiling. "Sorry if you like it so much, but we have a strict schedule." He apologized. I sighed and closed the book, putting it back where I found it. "It's fine. I know what I need to know. Goodnight Namjoon." I gave him a goodbye salute as he returned me one.
I grabbed my bow and returned to the forest. I have a date with a certain Spirit tonight. The moment that I spotted an animal, I pulled the arrow alongside my bow. Adrenaline rushed through my body as I let the arrow go, watching it getting stopped by the same force of this morning.
Jimin frowned at me. He didn't look all too happy. "Quit it Yoongi." "Never." I replied. "I want to meet this Spirit of the Forest, not the human that I see now."
Jimin sighed and turned away from me. "You are not going to stop this until you get what you want, are you?" He asked annoyed. I shook my head and walked towards him, gently taking his hand in mine.
My heartbeat sped up. His skin was so soft and smooth. How did a creature as beautiful and kind like him exist?
Jimin sighed. "No one followed you?" He asked quietly. I shook my head again. "I came alone." "Than if it means that you'll leave me alone, I'll do it." He said softly.
I gasped of happiness, embracing him in a tight hug. "Thank you!" Jimin tensed up at my touch. "D-don't get the wrong idea!" He said quickly. "Just come with me. And try not to love me... I know how humans act when they see something that catches their mortal eyes." He spat.
I sighed. "Jimin, I am not like that. You treat me like a dragon!" I exclaimed. "Dragons are nicer than you mortals. They give us a part of their life. A forest or a volcano's ground to protect, in exchange for some of their gold." Jimin said, looking away from me.
"What about the Ice Keepers?" I asked hesitantly. Jimin growled threateningly. "Where did you get this information from?" He asked. "Simple books, but that doesn't matter. Not all humans are as ruthless as they may seem. I can prove it." I said quickly.
"I'm waiting." He said impatiently. I quickly connected my lips with his, giving him a small kiss before retreating. Jimin widened his eyes at me. He looked down. "Yoongi. Kissing a Spirit can cause your death."
I sighed deeply. "Than so it may be. I showed your kind wrong." I said lowly. Jimin nodded. "And so I will show you." He took a deep breath before looking at me. "Be warned Yoongi. You cannot escape your punishment."
I watched with wide eyes as his appearance began to change before me. His sudden paler smooth skin was covered by several beautiful ocean colored scales. His pointy ears held elegant silver earrings in them as his crystal blue eyes stared at me.
From his hips, small different colored leaves formed themselves into pants that wrapped themselves tightly around his legs. He was beautiful...
"There. I showed you." Jimin said softly. He looked down slightly. "You're beautiful... So elegant and yet so distracting." I said, barely in a whisper. I caressed his shoulder where some of his scaled had formed, feeling the rough material.
Jimin smiled slightly. "Thank you, but now you must go." He said lowly. "I don't want to. You're so gorgeous." I said softly, pecking his soft lips again.
I was surprised Jimin even let me kiss him. "Why do you do that?" Jimin asked. "The kissing..." "Because you deserve more love than you are getting now, I want to give you that." I replied, taking his hands in mine.
Jimin smiled. "That would be... nice." He said softly, hesitantly leaning forward to let our lips touch again. I happily kissed back. It wasn't often that you'd see such beauty before you like him. It was rare. More than rare.
Jimin yelped when he heard thunder burst loudly, pushing himself in my embrace. We watched as from the thunder, three different Spirits emerged.
A blue one... Deep-Sea Spirit.
A red one... Volcano Spirit.
A yellow one... Sun Spirit.
I was eye in eye with the Sun Spirit, which I had read, was the most powerful of them all together with the Moon Spirit. But ever since she died, the Sun Spirit is left alone.
I held Jimin even tighter, frowning at the three. "Leave him alone." I growled. The Spirits looked at me and raised their eyebrows.
"You both have broken a lot of rules today. Both of you shall be punished, but I fear the worst for you, mortal." The Sun Spirit growled. I frowned. "I'll take his punishment. Lay one claw on him and you will meet my fists." I spat.
The Spirits burst into laughter, causing Jimin to grow threateningly. "What is our punishment?" He asked lowly. "For you Jimin, will be that you cannot protect this forest for at least a month, and will have to join a Night Spirit." The Sun Spirit said.
Jimin widened his eyes. "Why a Night Spirit?!" "Because that is the best we can give you." The Deep Sea Spirit said mockingly. I sighed. "What about me?" I asked lowly. "You shall be tortured until you learn the Spirits life." The Volcano Spirit replied.
Jimin growled loudly. "You can't do that!" "Do you see what he has done to you Jimin?" The Sun Spirit asked. "He has forced you to fall in love with him."
I widened my eyes. "Excuse me?! That is the last I would do! I wanted to show him that humans are different. Yes, I am a hunter, and yes, I hunt animals. It's not like I don't get hurt killing them! My heart aches when I take an animal away from its family every day." I yelled.
"The punishment has not changed. I advise you to stay calm and not make this any worse for yourself, mortal." The Sun Spirit said lowly. I sighed deeply. "Very well. I shall listen, in exchange for Jimin his freedom."
Jimin widened his eyes. "Yoongi, don't!" "Let me take your punishment Jimin. It was me who forced you into this, so I deserve the worst I can get." I said softly.
I felt a hand grab my shoulder. The feeling already sent shivers down my spine. "Come with us." I simply nodded, giving Jimin a last kiss on his cheek. "Remember me?" I chuckled.
Jimin didn't reply. He held my hand tightly, preventing me from leaving. "Don't leave me alone." He whined. "I'm sorry Jimin, but I have to accept what I risked. If that means to get hurt, then I'll gladly take that." I said softly.
I gently pulled his hand from mine and turned around, walking with the Spirits. Jimin his eyes followed me until I was out of sight, tears welling up in his eyes. I had no choice. He was free. That was all that matters.
The Sun Spirit grabbed my shoulder firmly, speaking some words that I could not understand. I closed my eye tightly as a bright light flashed into my eyes.
"Mortals are weak." He started. I blinked a few times. The room itself was dark and only a few dimly lifted torches hung at the walls. In the middle of the room thing chains from the walls, and a plateau of stone.
"They let themselves be manipulated by all living things." He said again. He was taller than me for sure now that I finally got a good look at him up close. He looked strong, and his posture was confident and balanced. His mind seemed troubled...
"Take place at the stone of Spirits and cooperate." He spoke lowly, leading me towards the plateau. I sat down on my knees confidently as I let myself get chained.
I tensed up, my muscles clenching together when a painful shock of what seemed like electricity shot through my body. I pulled at the chains instinctively. "What is this?!" I yelled.
The Sun Spirit seemed satisfied. "Do not worry. It will take a few days, perhaps weeks, before you shall find rest again. My Mind Spirit shall keep an eye on you in case you manage to break free." He said lowly.
A lilac-colored Spirit walked towards me and gave me a friendly nod. "What about my survival?" I asked, groaned of pain. "Namjoon shall bring it to you. Him and Taehyung shall take care of you. Any other questions you may ask them." The Sun Spirit replied.
"Your name?" I growled. "No need to know. In a few weeks, you shall call me Sire." With that he left the room, leaving me with the Volcano Spirit and the Mind Spirit.
I let out a soft cry of pain when I felt the same shocks. "Why does it hurt so much?!" I yelled, arching my back and pulling at the chains. "It is changing your body." Namjoon replied. "You are not like us, so therefore your body must go under a full transformation."
Taehyung nodded. "Your ears, eyes, body. They all have to change." He said smiling. "How are you so happy at a time like this?" Namjoon asked him. Taehyung shrugged. "I like seeing humans." He chuckled.
I threw my head back in pain. Electrified is too weak to describe it. Every shock and burn made my body tremble in pain, it was as if my body was being pulled apart, reattached, and pulled apart again.
"How long will this pain last?!" "The minimum is three days, but that transformation is very rare and requires a lot more mental strength than you have." Namjoon replied.
"The maximum?" I asked, whining in pain. "The longest it took for a transformation was half a year." Taehyung answered hesitantly. I yelled in pain. "Who was it with?" "Me." Namjoon said with a sigh.
"A Mind Spirit has to change not only on the outside and inside, but also its brain. I fainted a few times of pain. I cannot remember much more of my transformation." Namjoon explained, his eyes keeping contact with mine.
I screamed of the sudden pain, my body shaking of the lack of energy. "I... I don't feel good..." I groaned. Taehyung frowned. "Are you thirsty?" He asked. I shook my head weakly. "Hungry?" I shook my head again.
Namjoon frowned. "Hand me your wrist please." He held his hand out to me and crouched down. I growled. "I can't! I'm tired up!" I yelled. Namjoon shook his head slightly and felt my pulse. "He is fine. It seems like he is going to be the same Spirit as Seokjin."
"Which is?" I asked groaning. "He is a Spirit of Darkness. A very rare Spirit kind and honestly, does not fit with his personality at all. For the Spirit of Darkness, your heartbeat must be slowed down." Namjoon explained. I groaned and screamed in pain.
Taehyung looked down sadly and walked away. "What's up with him?" I asked. "He is getting you some water probably. Something to calm you with." Namjoon answered with a sigh.
"You should be happy Yoongi." "How do you know my name?" I spat. "Jimin yelled it." Namjoon rolled his eyes at me and chuckled. "A Darkness Spirit is rare. Jimin will like you even more that way. I know the others would." He sighed.
I let a usual growl escape my lips. "I don't care about that. Anything that has to do with Jimin I have to know." I growled. Namjoon tilted his head. "The transformation won't be longer than a week." He confirmed, stepping back from me.
I yelled in pain again, the same growl immediately following right after. Another tremendous shock of pain went through my body. This, believe it or not, went on for the whole day.
Inhuman growls were constantly escaping my throat without me wanting them to, my ears hurt and it almost felt like my skull was going to break.
I looked up when I heard the door creak open, widening my eyes. "Yoongi!" "Jimin..." I smiled weakly, growling again. Jimin ran towards me, kneeling down in front of the plateau.
"What have they done to you...?" He asked, a sad tone in his voice. I chuckled. "It's nothing bad Jimin. Just... pain." I smiled, only to tense up again and yell of the shock.
Jimin cupped my face and held it up to keep eye contact. He looked at Namjoon with worry. "What will he become? How long will this take?" He asked, gritting his teeth visibly.
Namjoon frowned. "He will become a Darkness Spirit from what I know, my guesses are that the transformation will be a week minimum." He answered.
Jimin growled angrily at him. "Why a week?! Why so long?!" He yelled. "Look at him!" I frowned. "I can take a bit of pain." I growled. Jimin widened his eyes at me. "Yoongi... I can't let them hurt you like this."
"It's too late to go back now. He is already starting to change, pulling him away now will cause his death." Taehyung snapped angrily. Jimin growled threateningly. "Says the Spirit who has had a crush on Jungkook for years."
I let a loud growl escape my lips. "Jungkook? Library Jungkook?" I whined in pain. "Yes. That Jungkook." Jimin spat. I growled and screamed in pain. "He is my friend! Touch him with one nail of yours and I'll rip you apart!" I snapped.
Taehyung frowned at me. "Are you sure that he is not going to be a Forgotten Spirit?" He asked Namjoon annoyed. "Very sure. If he would be a Forgotten Spirit than Jimin would feel nothing for him." Namjoon replied.
Jimin grabbed Taehyung harshly and pushed him away. "You call him a Forgotten Spirit one more time.." He hissed. "Why? You fell in love with a human, now he is going to be one of your kind and you're still not happy. Why are so protective over a mortal?" He spat.
Jimin growled. "Humans are not all ruthless." He walked back towards me and gave me a small peck. "I'm sorry. I'll come to visit you every day. I want to see your progress." He whispered softly. I nodded l, growing in pain. "I bet I'll miss you if you don't."
Jimin smiled. "I'll be back tomorrow." With that I watched him walk away. He turned around and gave me a loving smile before closing the door behind him.
I stayed there and sat there in pain. Every single day a new body part would hurt and burn. I could feel some stretching out, shrinking, or even just gaining muscle. This was not normal!
Every day Jimin came to visit as he promised. They send Taehyung out just to be sure of safety. He kept telling me what had changed, how his days were with Hoseok, a very energetic Night Spirit. He kept telling me what had changed about me.
Exactly nine days had passed, and Namjoon was getting worried. He kept feeling my pulse and hydrating my body, even though I spit it out immediately. My body didn't accept water anymore. Neither did it accept human food.
I growled loudly in pain when suddenly, it stopped. I panted and let myself hang in the chains weakly. After a week of tensing and changing... Was it over? Have I been released from my human form?
Both the Spirits looked at me. Namjoon was the first to walk up to me. He carefully pushed my chin up and inspected my face and my body. He smiled. "It's done."
I sighed in relief. Taehyung gave him a soft nod and left the room, returning with the Sun Spirit after a few minutes.
He looked at me with surprise and yet pride was glinstering in his eyes. "Well, well, well. Our dear Yoongi. How do you feel?" I looked up at him. "I feel weak. I feel like I've been Drained from my energy." I answered.
The Sun Spirit nodded. "I see. Release him while I get his beloved mate." He ordered, leaving the room. Taehyung and Namjoon both unlocked one of the chains, letting me fall on the floor weakly.
I looked up when Jimin ran in. I smiled, seeing him again. "Oh my goodness. Yoongi!" He embraced me into a tight hug. I quickly hugged him back, my chest heaving up and down.
He smiled, looking at me. His eyes were filled with hope and dreams. "You're so... elegant this way..." He said softly. I chuckled. "Do you see why I fell for you now?"
Jimin nodded and caressed some of the scales on my cheek. "You've changed so much..." "I don't care. It's oner now and I'm happy." I smiled.
"Perhaps you are hungry?" The Sun Spirit asked. I hesitantly nodded. "Jimin, will you do the honors?" He asked. Jimin nodded happily and grabbed the small jar from the Sun Spirit's hands.
A dimly lit ball was floating inside of it. Jimin carefully opened the jar and quickly grabbed the orb before it could fly away. He kneeled down in front of me. "As Spirits, we eat souls. Usually the ones from the intruders."
I tilted my head slightly. "We eat that?" I asked confused. Jimin nodded. "Once a week is enough. Open your mouth." He ordered. I frowned slightly but opened my mouth anyway. Jimin grabbed my hand gently and held it up, laying the orb in my palm.
I watched as the orb broke into smaller orbs that let themselves glide down my throat. Adrenaline rushed through me, my energy that was once lost, completely refilled. I looked up at the Sun Spirit with wide eyes.
"How long does this last?" I asked. "Two weeks maximum, if you're lucky." He replied. Jimin turned to the Sun spirit. "Am I now allowed to love him?" He asked rudely. The Sun Spirit frowned but gave him a soft nod.
Jimin smiled and immediately hugged me tightly. I quickly hugged him back, embracing the warmth of his body. Taehyung growled lowly and pulled us apart. "Cut me some slack. I don't need to see you two kiss."
I growled back. "Let me be. I've been through so much pain the last week, I can finally look him in his eyes without pain." I snapped. Jimin rubbed my back comfortingly. Taehyung frowned. "Are you okay with this? Namjoon say something!"
Namjoon shrugged. "Yoongi is a Spirit now. As long as he listens to the Sun than he is free to do whatever he wishes to do." Taehyung growled again. "Namjoon is right." The Sun Spirit said.
Taehyung frowned and growled at me before he left the room. Jimin pecked my lips and smiled. "Don't pay attention to him. Volcano Spirits are hot-headed." He chuckled.
I smiled softly. "I guess it is time to send the both of you back. I bet your friends miss you Jimin." The Sun Spirit said. He nodded. "I miss them too. But, since Yoongi is a Darkness Spirit, can he help me?" Jimin asked.
"And why is that?" The Sun Spirit asked. "He can work at night while I sleep, and so the other way around." Jimin explained, holding my hand. The Sun Spirit chuckled. "Very well. Have fun, but if I notice anything off or worse than it is back to Pandoria with the both of you." He said sternly.
Jimin nodded. "It won't happen." "I trust you on that Jimin." The Sun Spirit snapped his fingers. Again that bright light. I was going to get blinded.
I blinked a few times shaking my head. Jimin looked at me with worry. "Yoongi?" "I'm fine. Just a small headache. I smiled. Jimin quickly pecked my lips again. "You can sleep if you want to."
I chuckled. "Where do we sleep?" "I usually sleep in the water because of its calming source." Jimin said happily. "Than lead me to there." I smiled. After a few minutes of walking, we came at a small river.
I let myself fall backwards pulling Jimin with me. "Yah! Hey, I have a job to do!" He whined. I kissed him quickly to shut him up. "Sleep with me today..."
The End
