♧CHAP II
Note: Writing this chapter was the hardest and I'm not so proud of it either but know any confusion you might get will be clarified in later chapters! So look forward to them!
For you all who don't know about a/b/o dynamics, I'll just explain things that I mentioned so here it goes!
So basically an Alpha is the top rank from the 3 types, Alphas are natural leaders with strong physical strengths while betas are similar to humans rather than a wolf in terms of strength. They usually are stronger than omegas who are the lowest rank. Omegas are the weakest they can be trained like betas, omegas are the ones responsible for giving birth and are needed alongside alphas for them being the most compatible pair.
Of course, I am not accurate with my description but just know that I won't be focusing on the abo dynamics but rather Wolfs as a whole so a knowledge to omega verse is not required to read this story also this is pure fiction so I'm basically making my own universe so things might not be so accurate after all!
Have a good read!<3

_____________♧ACE POV♧____________
--
"Long long ago, although it wasn't that long time ago, Mythalia was a place where everyone was equal to everyone. It was said to be the most peaceful period in the history of Mythalia. The country which was isolated at the west of the Pacific Ocean. Where magic started and was ended by the same hands of those who allowed it. Mythalia used to be ruled by wizards once. There never was human intervention or connection with them. The land of magic where every supernatural creature found their home in, From Bloody Vampires to rogue werewolves. Even those who made magic was to live there quietly in the far south region of the country. Nothing remains forever so that all changed after the daughter of the magicians' king challenged the royal Vampires. It was said to be the greatest massacre in man's history and from then on, Those who practised magic were to be banned from Mythalia forever. If found, they were to be executed without a second thought. The sudden change in rules was what made half of the population's numbers decline. But not all of them died of course in fact, many wizards and witches hid in unknown places while many migrated to safe lands and many more just....disappeared. The one who challenged the royals was said to have escaped from her undeniable fate. The fate of her went to others who knew her, they were killed in the most brutal ways to human. Whoever sensed a witch or a wizard either called in on them or killed them themselves. The declining numbers of the magic savers affecting the land l-"
He couldn't continue his reading when the book was suddenly snatched from his grips.
"Hey what are you reading?"
He rolled his eyes slightly "History?"
"Woooo that's boring Ace!"
"Well for you it is boring but for me? Who literally has nothing to do? It's fun but anyways don't you have more -interesting- deals to be on?"
"Ace, stop being so angsty in the morning! Duhhh, and anyways what will be reading our country's history bring back?"
He opened the page where Ace was last reading and shook his head in disbelief.
"Are you reading about those doomed wizards who banned themselves by themselves? I don't understand how crazy they were! Challenging the royals? And the vampires on that! Dummies!"
"What if maybe they had a reason? And what if there were innocent ones? Who died in the flow? Did no one have a slight sympathy on the innocent ones?"
"Hey, hey watch your mouth brother, the king might hear you and bring your inner witch out!!"
"Ha funny, that said king is our father, Aron"
"Alright! Stop being angsty and come out to dinner"
Ace looked hopeful for a second "Did 'he' call me?"
Aron shook his head pitifully "No....but we want you to come out Ace......We missed you!"
He tried to convince him assuringly when the lack of a reply continued for a while, Aron excused himself and walked away sadly until only his silhouette was evident.
17 years old Ace was the youngest of his family that had 2 sons and 1 daughter. He was of royal blood and as a hybrid of a love marriage between a werewolf and a vampire but he rather took more from his vampirey side. His brother "Aron" was a more of a werewolf so no one was surprised when he presented as alpha, so he was suited more for the crown even when their sister was the eldest.
His sister was probably the closest to him from his family as they had a huge age gap which made him see her more as motherly figure than of a sister.
She was named "April" due to her birth in April and was the original crown princess but when their brother presented as an "Alpha" she forsook the title to her brother without a second thought which brought relief to their father.
Ace always knew that his sister was the kindest so he wasn't that surprised when she didn't oblige to give her rightful title to others rather was he sad for her but she insisted that in fact, she didn't mind to who was the crown given instead April wished to get married and leave the north behind.
Ace was naturally the last in command due to his age and also for he had more of vampirey features, the natives there were torn between accepting someone 'different' to rule the North after his brother or removing him from the ruling order. His father started training him from his teenage years because usually, werewolves were biologically stronger inbuilt than most vampires so he needed to be trained in order to gain the physical strength he needed to be compared to a werewolf.
On the other hand, young Ace never wanted the crown. He was more keen on poetry and astronomy than politics. He even wanted to become a writer but he obviously knew he couldn't. His life was predetermined since birth as a prince. Ace was always a smart student among his age group with no desire in physical training. However, he had to endure it for he didn't have a choice. He had the wealth, yes, but he always seemed rather lonely or isolated. He liked to keep to himself more and was often nagged about it. Despite being the youngest, he was never a spoilt child, His mother died when he was a toddler so he lacked his mother's love which made him closed off. He, in fact, was a lonely boy, derived from complete yes or no orders. His father didn't try to talk to him only if it was about his training. He was always closer to his siblings than to his own father.
-
He loved the sky, maybe for it was always a reminder of his beloved mother who sang to him numerous songs about it before he slept, although he was very little the last time she sang it, he always remembered them vividly. It made him envious of the sky for it being able to witness his own mother longer than he did. The night she passed away he was of age 5, at that time he didn't quite understand why his siblings were crying hysterically and uncontrollably. Why did his father turn so cold to him all of a sudden after she passed away? Little Ace couldn't quite grasp an idea about why were they all pitting him constantly. He didn't like it! He wanted his mom to be the one giving him those smooches that his sister gave him every night. They were, in fact, soft and nice, but nothing could ever replace his own mother's loving embraces and pecks. He was so young back then that he didn't cry, maybe because his brother had told him that their mother is in somewhere more beautiful than here, where only Roses bloomed. Young was he that he believed every nonsense they said, nonetheless he does still believe them but now that he's older they are harder to believe. Fully knowing why they cried that time made him guiltier that he didn't cry. Looking at his mother's gardens with the sky and moon above them is giving him extreme nostalgia. Maybe if only she was still alive she could've sat with him and told him about the great meanings behind those shining stars.
Ace sighed as he stood up from the lonely chair in the garden, wiping his shed tears left on his cheeks taking his long cloak, he began heading back to his quarters to avoid the worrying he might affect. He sighed once again remembering how everyone here worries too much about him, like for God's sake he's 17! he knows this castle too much that he can recall it while closed eyes. And why would he escape even? The outer world is too scary for him to even try.
-
Ace woke up the next morning feeling fatigued, he moved quickly to open the windows to let the morning sunshine in and took a lungful of fresh airy breeze that awoke his insides for a new morning.
A knocking sound was heard so he raised his eyebrows in amusement because no one usually visited him 'this' early.
"Come in," he said those two words louder to let whoever is waiting inside quickly.
"So you are awake!" Came the cheerful voice of his elder sister that he lived to adore.
Ace smiled motioning to her to sit beside him "hello, sister"
"Hello, Dear"
"What brought you here today sister? It isn't usual for you to visit me at his hour" he scratched his neck confused.
"Well...I have news!"
"Good ones I hope"
His sister laughed slightly, covering her mouth in an embarrassing manner.
"I will get married soon!"
Ace felt his heart shatters slightly and slowly but chose not to acknowledge it, putting on the fake smile he grew to learn and use.
"Oh...wow congratulations when's the wedding?"
Her sister didn't sense his sadness or chose not to because she started excitedly jumping on the couch "next month! Isn't amazing???? I finally get to leave the palace after 27 years of living here"
He didn't quite get her excitement about getting married but he understood well her wish to leave this palace.
His sister April was to marry the vampire prince of the East as a peace treaty so even though she never met him personally before, his kind character was always the talk so she hoped he really is what they say about him.
"Ah yes I'm so happy for you sister...." he trailed off thinking about the possibilities of never seeing her ever again but his train of thoughts was cut off when she patted his head assuringly.
"Don't worry.....I will never leave you ever"
"I know...but-"
"No buts, yes I'm excited to leave the North behind but I'll always visit from time to time! I would never forget about my home Ace"
His eyes started to tear "but- you are my home! W-What am I s-supposed to do after you leave?"
April always knew that her brother depended on her too much to the point of seeing her as his mother, she was always there for him since their mother died. When Ace was a toddler of 4 summers, she was a teenager of 14 winters and was always there to teach him the right from the wrong.
She taught him so much of his life that's why he is so physically clinging to her even after being 17.
"Ohhhh" she then didn't hesitate to hug and comfort him. "You know that you never changed? You are the same baby of 4 years!"
Ace buried his head into her shoulders "don't tease me! It's supposed to be a sad moment" he pushed her slightly making her giggle.
"Owww, such a baby! But for real though, I'm never forgetting about you so stop weeping like a child!"
Ace smiled nodding his head, cheeks still wet from tears. His chocolate-brown doe eyes blinking tears while looking into his sister's teal-green eyes that were full of unshed tears smiling to him. Ace always had that innocence that never disappeared as he grew up, that's one of the reasons his siblings always babied him for he had angelic features that held great purity that made him easy to approach. His sister was extra cautious about his wellbeing for he was easily manipulated but she made sure that never happen to him.
"I'm sorry for crying like that sister, but I'll miss you!"
"Aww, I'll miss your cuteness too!" She pinched his cheeks that were starting to lose their natural baby fat. "I can't believe you are 17! You are going to be a man soon! I wonder if you are going to present as a werewolf or stay a vampire forever?"
April actually presented as a Beta 7 years ago and that was one of the reasons she declined the throne although no one ever doubted the leader-like traits that she held April thought that she will be better as a princess anyway. Ace was the only of his siblings to not present as werewolves usually presented between ages of 18 to 21 although they were already expecting him to become a vampire-like their mother for he lacked the physical qualities of a natural wolf so they doubted he would but they always waited for his 18th birthday.
"Noooo I don't want to grow up! Adults are so boring!"
"Don't let Aron hear that! He's going to bring his inner Alpha on you!"
"He could never!"
And then all was heard was their giggles that echoed through the castle walls.
-
Ace grew up in a place where rules where the deciders of decisions so he never had the pleasure to explore the outside world; his father always warned him from lingering too deep in the forests nearby but he couldn't help but sneak out at night to explore the magnificent landscapes the North had. He was glad to never being caught for he knew the risks but chose not to dwell too much because he was such a coward and thinking too deeply about something he wants to try will intimidate and stop him from actually attempting it so he chose to purposely shut off his mind before doing risky things.
Going out to the nearby forest always calmed him down and helped him to think deeply and slowly without distractions and today with the news of his sister leaving, he spent the day thinking about not seeing her again which is pathetic because she herself insisted her visits were to be frequent but he couldn't help his too insecure mind.
Those what-ifs always lingered and were too dangerous if credited excessively so he chose to sneak today in order to organize his jumbled up thoughts.
-
Upon arriving at his area, which he claims it to be his because he never saw anyone sitting there and simply for it was amazing!
With the sky clearer here, trees blocking his sight and the too good to be true view, he usually climbs those mountains back and forth but today he was rather exhausted from the crying session he had with his sister previously which ended in them bad-mouthing their brother.
His body as if automatically set, started to relax. It was too dark today with the moon feeling blue as if he cried with him but Ace never was a wimp for dark nights. In fact, he loved them which was a little unexpected of a baby like him -his sister's words-.
And today was no different, his place was behind that crimson tree that covered half of his long body but was a great coverage overall.
Swimming into his sea of thoughts, he didn't notice the slight movement beside him. His only thought was of how pretty the sky seemed. No one truly understood his weird likings but him. In that second he wished he was a star swimming in those spongy looking clouds that he wished to eat, He quickly shoved his weird cravings aside and instead started whistling an unknown tune he grew to know and love mindlessly.
"And a song someone sings, Once upon a December" he suddenly heard a whisper of the continuation of the same melody he thought it carried no lyrics or meanings to it.
Instead of being startled, he started completing the melody with his whistles thinking it was just an imagery sound. Oh, how paranoid he became.
But that said imagination knew too well the melody as well as the new lyrics that fit too perfect to the beautiful tune Ace was whispering.
"Oh...my...God!" Ace suddenly screamed into the air, standing abruptly feeling the fear swim through his insides.
"Finally noticed?"
Ace covered his eyes and began shaking whispering pleas of nos. "N-no!"
Suddenly the said voice laughed the most beautiful sound he's ever heard. He thought that he must have died and these were angels singing.
"Are you an angel?"
"Too bold aren't we?" The same voice said in amusement evident in the high tone of the said voice.
Ace started panicking "No for real! Are you an angel? did I die? Oh my God but what about my sister!!!! And my cat! Lucas has no one to feed! Oh my lord! But what if my father thinks I escaped? Will he kill my sister??? Nooo-"
"Oh my God! Stop rambling my ears will fall off!"
"Ok Mrs angel"
The said angel finally revealed themselves as they were hiding on the other side of the crimson tree.
That 'angel' was, in fact, a young girl looking like she was the age as Ace, she had long silky pitch-black hair with a beautiful fringe that was covering half of her pale face, not that he was staring...
"Wow" he let his bewilderment slip but was fast to cover his mouth.
"I heard that!"
"I know sorry...."
"Don't be...I know I'm beautiful"
He laughed at the self-confidence she was showing that was reflected by her sapphire-blue eyes.
"Ok Mrs angel, who are you"
She crossed her arms shaking her head "Aunt said never let strangers know my name"
"I'll keep calling you angel then"
He swore to see her cheeks blush for a second but she hid them quickly with her long hair.
"I will say I was surprised you knew that song"
"I heard the tune somewhere, what about you?"
"Mom.....Mom used to sing it to me" she trailed off her thoughts with a sigh that sounded too sad.
"Wow that's-....... beautiful"
"Yeah"
They both were quiet for a minute, admiring the sky silently before she broke the silence.
"Do you come here a lot?"
"Sometimes"
"Hmm" she nodded before looking again at the sky in wild admiration.
"What about you?"
"Every 21st of December"
He nodded finally understanding her presence "Do you know that this is my place?"
She raised her eyebrows for a second questioning him "As I know that's a free forest, no one owns anything here"
He started "But that's-" and motioned to the tree they were both sitting at before continuing "my place!"
"Alright, but I'll have to borrow it every year if you don't mind?
"Well....you seem cool so I'll let you!"
"Thank-"
"For one condition"
"What is?"
"You tell me your name" Ace looked at her eyes making quick eye contact before she broke it.
"Alright....." She sighed clearing her throat "Zia"
"Oh" he smiled feeling weird happiness at finally knowing the mysterious girl's name.
"What about you?"
"Come tomorrow and I'll tell you" he then jumped off running excitedly back to his home grinning from ear to ear.
And that was the first time Ace thought about the word "Friends"
"I promise that I will always be here for my loved ones,
today, tomorrow and forever!"
