Chapter 6

Mitchel sat at the dining room table. Everyone sat around him, eating the food Samantha had prepared for them. Troy was grimacing at it. "I'm sorry, but I do not eat human food." He said.

Samantha chuckled. "Do not worry, we have food specifically designed for your species."

She left into the kitchen, then came out with a glass of some red liquid, a plate with a salad on it, and some fish on another. She set the glass in front of Troy, the fish in front of Zoe, and the salad in front of Estal.

Troy grabbed the glass and took a sip. "Is this one of the blood packs?" He asked.

Samantha nodded. Troy sighed. "At least it is edible."

Mitchel took a bite of the animal that had been cooked and covered in a powder that tasted like the sun's heat was dried and then grounded up. He sighed and then took a sip of the drink provided. As soon as the liquid touched his mouth, his whole mouth tingled at the fizzy bubbles and the weird, yet pleasing taste. he brought the metal container higher into the air and gulped it down.  When he brought it away from his lips, he felt his stomach churn. a bubble of what felt like air moved up his throat. When it came out of his mouth, he belched.

Everyone looked at him, but his face was just pale and confused. "What is in that...that..."

"Soda?" Corey said sarcastically with a raised eyebrow.

"What's Soda?" Zoe asked, examine the can in her hand.

Corey's cheeks puffed out, and then he busted into laughter. He fell back in his chair and continued laughing.

"That was a very honest question, Corey." Aristide said, an edge of annoyance in his tone.

"Soda is sodium carbonate, especially as a natural mineral or as an industrial chemical. That is the first definition, and the second is-"

"Honey, what I think these kids need right now is a down to earth explanation." Samantha said, patting her husband's hand. "Soda is made from carbohydrated water, or fizzy water, as I like to call it, though the technical term is Soda Water. That's why it is fizzy. It also has either actual sugar or artifical sugar to make it sweet. It has other ingredients as well, however, I do not care to name them, nor do I even know their names."

"What is this soda called?" Estal asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Dr. Pepper, can't you read?" Corey said, clearly annoyed.

"Sorry, I was too busy looking at this man on the can. He is the one wearing the weird mask with a bat on his chest? Who and what is he? He does not look human, at least, not to me."

"That, Aristide, is a DC superhero. His name is Batman." Andrew said, nodding his head as if he had just given out and important fact for life.

"Is he, per chance, a vampire?" Zoe asked, staring intently at Batman.

Andrew opened his mouth, and then closed it, closely resembling a fish. Samantha frowned, probably choosing her words carefully. Corey was sitting there, his face turning red from trying not to laugh.

"No, he is not a Vampire. Sorry if that disappoints you." Samantha finally said.

Troy sighed. "Of course there is never any good Vampire's in human lore."

That's when Troy finished his drink. He looked at Samantha. "Might I be able to get some more?" He asked, holding the glass up.

Samantha sighed and then grabbed his glass. She motioned for Corey to get up, and he did and went to go get something in the kitchen. Samantha then pulled a paper packet out of her pocket and poured it into Troy's glass. Corey came back, handing her a water bottle. She poured the water into the glass, the contents of the packet getting slightly mixed up with the water. She then grabbed Troy's unused spoon and stirred the mixture until it was dissolved entirely into each other. She then handing the glass back to Troy. Troy grimaced at it, but sill took a swig of it, before cleaning it off.

Andrew looked at Samantha and nodded. The couple stood up and grabbed each others hands. Their fingers moved to weave themselves together. "Kids, we have to go do work." Andrew said.

"What kind of work?" Estal asks suspiciously.

"We have to stop a pack of Rogues from attacking a pack down in Texas." Samantha said, her expression showing off how she figured they'd  react.

Mitchel sighed. "We should probably get going." He said, standing up.

"No," Andrew snapped. "It is not safe for youngsters such as yourselves right now, stay inside. Corey, see to it that they stay, alright?"

Corey grumbled and murmured something under his breath, but obliged anyways. Samantha smiled at them before a white light engulfed her and Andrew, causing them to vanish.

Corey sighed and stood up. "I will show you to your rooms, alright? We only have two left, so you'll have to divvy up." The more Corey talked, the more hatred and annoyance seemed to penetrate his voice.

He then led them upstairs and showed Mitchel, Aristide, and Zoe into one room, with Estal and Troy into the other.

Mitchel looked around the room and sighed. There was a queen size bed and a couch. Aristide moved towards the couch, pulling a blanket off the foot rest, and plopping down on it, pulling the blanket around his body.

Mitchel looked at Zoe, who was giving him flirtatious smile. She then walked over to the bed and laid down on it, pulling the blankets over her.

Mitchel sighed, and opened the closet doors. He rummaged through them until he found a bag of pillows. He brought it over to the bed and constructed a wall. He then grabbed one of the extra blankets from the closet and lay it on top of him, sleeping over the other one.

As Mitchel lay there, he thought about what Andrea's family said. How something was going on in the world, something too dangerous for them.

He sighed as he felt himself drifting into dreamland. His last thought before falling into the darkness was of Andrea.

Okay, before I start I want to explain what happened. For those of you reading when this came out, you would have seen how short the story was. What happened was I typed most of it on my father's computer, but it didn't save, and published what I had on my phone. Sorry about that, here is an extended version of what had actually been written.

Thank you all for over 50 reads, it means the world to me! I love writing this book, and making this for you guys!
