Chapter 14
Fai stared down at the table. She couldn't begin to believe what she was hearing. Timothy and Garroth were not Supernatural Beings...they were Monster Hunters.
"I find it very hard to believe." Mitchel said as he massaged his temples. "But it seems clear now. They never showed any signs of being Supernatural, and the fake last names they gave were very...unoriginal and obvious"
"We got a taste of what these Monster Hunters can do." Fredrick said, standing up from his seat next to Troy. "We should take this chance to kill them."
"No." Vincent said, shaking his head. "We have no idea how many Monster Hunters are even out there...besides, those two seemed very powerful all the same. They are younger than most of the people we'd send out...just think of what the adults could do."
Fai frowned. "Hey, Estal?"
Estal turned to her. "Yes?"
"You were there when they went to Andrea's house, correct?"
"Yes, that is right."
"You met her family. How powerful did they seem?"
Estal sighed as he tapped his chin. "Well, none of us sensed them until they came close to us, and we barely had time to hide at that point. Once I sensed them, however, I could not get the aura of power to get shaken out of me. It was like a gun was being held to your head as you made your way through the day, never going away. I was especially worried about Corey, her brother."
Frank choked on his drink as he took a sip. "Corey? Corey is her brother?'
All the adults looked at each other, their faces pale. "This is very bad." Carla, the mermaid, said.
"Indeed," Conner said, mirroring his sister's worried expression.
"How so?" Aristide asked, cocking his head to the side.
"Corey is a known assassin among the Monster Hunter group. Anyone who defied him usually never lived another day. He has been doing this Monster Hunting business since he was eight."
"That young!" Fai exclaimed, her mouth gaping.
"Yes, that long. He is around twenty two, if I recall correctly. That is fourteen years, so he is a very formidable opponent."
Mitchel sighed. "He seemed so worried about his sister too..."
"So, there you have it, Fredrick." Came an older woman's voice. "We can not and while not harm the Monster hunters."
Fai turned around and bowed, her face turning red from embarrassment that she hadn't done so before. "Madam Lily, I am so sorry for not bowing to you in the beginning!"
Madam Lily chuckled. "Oh please, my darling. Such formalities do not need to be used outside of the castle."
Fai nodded, though the red color of her face refused to drain away. She looked towards Estal, was giving her a sympathetic look. Fai smiled, her cheeks turning a rosy pink.
She turned back toward everyone else and saw them drumming their fingers on the table. They needed to think of someway to get back at the Monster Hunters for infiltrating their territory.
Sure, Andrea was one, but she had no idea they were Supernaturals, so there was no reason to strike back because of her.
"We know what two of them weild. They are foolish for showing us that." Fredrick said, his fangs starting to show.
Troy patted his hand, trying to calm him down. "We need to remain calm, as Lady Lily said, it'd be best not to interfere with them. Not yet, anyways."
Fai shuddered at the dull red glow that appeared in Troy's eyes when he said that. Suddenly, a chuckle sounded from the rafters.
"You Supernatural do not know how to find a secret meeting place, so you?"
A man fell from the rafters. He wore a black jacket with straps covering it, black pants, and black boots that the pants were tucked into. A chain was gripped in both of his hads, and he held it over his neck, pulling it tightly as he eyed them all.
Vincent bit his lip. Frank sighed. "Corey, what see you doing here?"
"Bringing girl scout cookies. What do you think I am doing moron?"
Aristide clenched his jaw. "Spying on us, huh?"
Corey scoffed. "Duh."
"Spying on us so you could find out all our secrets, right?" Fredrick said, his eyes glowing with the want to kill.
"As if. I am here to make sure you are not going to attack us. In all honesty, I am tempted to tell them that you are, judging from what you are talking about, anyways."
Michal groaned. "What is with you M-"
"Protectors. Didn't Timothy teach you anyrhing, werewolf?"
"He is not exactly the best teacher." Leyna said, annoyance cutting her tone.
Corey smirked. "Leyna, the Werewolf that came to gather her friends. To think you'd actually be here as only a beta." Corey said, clearly trying to pick a fight.
Fai stood up. "Corey, stop."
Corey turned to look at her, an unamused look on his face. "Hey, you are in no-"
Suddenly, a knife that closely resembled a key embedded itself into the wall, cutting Corey's ear. A sliver of blood dripped put of it. Corey grumbled something before Garroth walked in, his face clearly showing how pissed he was at Corey.
Timothy was behind him, his word resting over his shoulders. "What was it they said? Oh, yeah 'Corey is a known assassin among the Monster Hunter group. Anyone who defied him usually never lived another day. He has been doing this Monster Hunting business since he was eight'. You know what I say to that?" Timothy immediately started laughing after he said that. "You may have been training for a while, but your ego is too big and you can't seem to stay quiet."
Corey muttered something, and then chuckled. "Oh well. Guess we will have to head back to our secret base! See you all later!"
The teenagers looked at each other, than back at the three 'Protectors' as they made their way to their base. They immedielty leapt into action, following them.
