Chapter 12
Hey guys, it's Timothy again! Right now I am hanging with Michal, Leyna, and a few of the Warriors in their pack. Not that I don't like it or anything, I'm just basically petrified at the fact that I may get caught. After all, werewolves have become masters at sniffing us Monster Hunters out.
Michal grabbed my shoulder as he stared into my eyes. He searched my face, maybe trying to read my emotions. I smirked at him, deciding to do what I do best: sarcasm.
"Oh wow, getting all touchy feely, are we now?"
Michal's eyes widened and I heard a few scattered gasps. Leyna scoffed as she grabbed my collar and lifted me up to meet her face. God, I hate being short.
"Listen here, shorty." (God dang it!) "We don't take too kindly to you messing with our Al-"
"Come now, Leyna. He was just goofing off! Cut the guy a little slack." Michal said, patting her on the head.
She set me down and I immediately started getting questions on my size.
"Why are you so small?"
"He's the same age as the Alpha, yet he is half the size of him!"
"Are you a runt?"
"Let us see your wolf, kid."
I moved my hands back in forth as they closed in on me. "Listen people, let us not get to hasty, eh? I just met you, so no need to get all, oh, what do they call it? Oh yeah, curious."
As soon as the sentence came out of my mouth, my whole body tensed. The werewolves started to growl. I closed my eyes, my other senses painting a picture of what was going on in my head.
Leyna walked over. How'd I know it was her? Easy. The weight of her feet on the ground, her scent, and the fact that I knew she'd be the first to react.
"Timothy...what are you hiding?"
I clenched my fists, knowing I had made a mistake. I could feel my power starting to prep itself, I knew I'd need it.
When I didn't respond, I felt my feet leave the ground as someone hoisted me into the air. "The beta was talking to you, you piece of shit."
I didn't respond. All that mattered now was to prepare my weapon. I always had it on me, people just never saw it as I cloaked it, just like every other Monster Hunter.
Our weapon was the source of our power. Certain people such as Garroth did not have a need for a weapon, but people like me or Corey needed one. Corey used chains, something I thought was pretty cool. My weapon was hardly that neat.
"Answer us!" Someone else cried.
Before anyone could say anything else, I could sense the presence of a younger child. "Big brother?" Came a girl's soft voice.
I opened my eyes to see a small girl standing there. She looked almost identical to Michal, except her hair was an auburn color. She was clutching the door handle, put she could hardly reach it. I didn't blame her, those doors were built for behemoths like Michal.
Michal sighed as he looked back at me, then back at his sister. "Sara, what do you need?" He hummed.
"I want to know why you are hurting this guy. He is a werewolf, right?"
"That is a what we are making sure of." Leyna replied, glaring up at me. I grinned, this could play to my advantage.
"Are you Michal's sister?" I asked, though I figured I already knew the answer.
Sara nodded, loosening her grip on the handle. "My name is Timothy Claw, I am a friend from Leyna and Michal's school. They invited me to see your pack, is that alright?"
Sara let go of the handle and nodded at me, before skipping away. Part of me cursed, but the other part, the part I didn't understand completely, was glad she was gone. No child should see the bloodshed I was about to unleash. I mentally slapped that side of me. I could not tarnish the Monster Hunter's reputation anymore than it already was.
Leyna sighed and looked back up at me. "Now, tell us what you are hiding and we all walk away alive."
I scoffed. "Like you'd kill one of your own and one of your friends."
Leyna smirked. "I don't know what it is about you, but something says I should run away whenever is see you."
My grip tightened over my weapon. It was still concealed, but I had an inkling suspicion that I'd need it very soon.
"What gives you that idea?" I asked, prepared to pull out my weapon and fight my way out of here.
"Some dream I have been having. Were a Monster Hunter, who looks a hell of a lot like you, goes and tells me that it is not safe to be out."
My throat tightened. "Looks like we are in for a rough ride."
"We? More like you, bud." One of the Warriors said.
I heard the cracking of bones and the growls that came from the wolves. I clutched into my weapon and tore myself out of the guys grip, pulling off my shirt in the process. "Damn it I really liked that shirt." I said as my weapon came into view.
Ah, my amazing weapon. It is at least twice the size of my and quite deadly. The blade is taller than me and the handle is at least half the size of me. Large, I know. Powerful? Fuck yeah.
The blade is gray, like most blades are. It is made of steel and diamond, but obviously mostly steel. The handle is made of Quebracho wood, which is the hardest wood that I know of. It comes from the Spanish term quebrar which translates to 'ax breaker', so it is quite strong.
The werewolves gawked at my amazing sword. I smirked as I placed it over my shoulders. To anyone else it'd be like trying to pick up an elephant, but to me, it was like holding a feather. Michal and Leyna looked tense, so I laughed.
"You guys are even stupider than I thought!"
They both looked confused, and the wolves behind them growled softly. "What are you talking about?"
My expression hardened. "I would never raise my sword against unarmed enemies, unless they gave reason to. I'd also rather not tarnish my kinds name, as we are no enemies of the Supernatural. I have no idea when you creatures are gonna get it through your thick skulls that we only intervene when you have done nothing. We don't kill without reason anymore. That was centuries ago. I know you all live much longer than we do, but you really need to understand that we aren't our ancestors; we are a new type of Monster Hunters."
"Oh? And what would that be?" Someone asked, shifting back into a human.
"I'd like all you Supernatural Beings to no longer call us Monster Hunters, but to call us...
the Protectors."
And with that, I vanished, heading back to the Protectors' base, hopefully to stay, I didn't want to have homework anymore.
****
Wow. I did not expect myself to finish that chapter tonight. Guess that is what happens when you get into writing a chapter.
Anyways, what did you guys think? Tell me if you like the name or think I should change it to something else, I made it up on the spot.
Tanks for 150 reads! I love all of you!
