1. What made you start writing on Wattpad? What has been your favorite moment so far on the orange app?
I started writing on Wattpad way back in my fanfiction-era. I always looked for a place to share my works, but until Wattpad came, nothing really suited me, so it was a real adventure when I first started to share my writings on the platform and my profile slowly began to grow. My favorite moment was probably when I won my first award here with Lifa-saga. Later on, many have followed, but it was the first moment when I really felt like my work is appreciated and that it really can become into something good. This is what keeps me going since then.
2.Which mythology and/or legends influenced your story? Why did you choose those?
Definitely Norse mythology and the tale of Ragnarok. I have loved Norse mythology since I was a little kid and I have read many tales about their gods, legendary creatures and all. It was no question for me that if I ever write an adventure novel, it will be about fierce vikings and their sometimes very complicated gods.
3.Tell us about the main character of one of your stories. What inspired their creation?
The main character of Wolf Child is Lifa. I have always dreamed about a strong, fierce female warrior who can experience the legendary adventures I never can. She is my getaway to the magical, old world of the North, though our personalities are really different. Lifa is really headstrong and reckless, but she is always there for those who she cares for. There is a famous character in Hungarian literature, called Esti Kornél. He is an "opposite persona" of the writer, Dezső Kosztolányi. He is reckless, brave and achieves things the writer could never do. Lifa is kind of the same for me. I do not wish to be exactly like her, but she is kind of my adventurous, warrior viking persona, I will never be.
4.What were some challenges you experienced while writing the story?
Definitely the crew. Beside Lifa, I have twelve other crewmates in the Glorious Thirteen, so it was a real challenge for me to give each of them enough "screen time" and different personalities. I think, in the end I did a good job on that, but it's something I need to always keep in mind while writing.
5.Do you have a song playlist for writing? Can you share one with us?
I usually listen to different songs for every chapter and I love putting them at the beginning of the chapters. I have a playlist of all the songs that appear during Wolf Child, following the mood and the feelings as the story progresses: life-saga
My fave playlist though is for my other story, Viharhozó. I think this one really catches the atmosphere of the story, so I'll leave here a link for that as well: Viharhozó
6.What is your favorite myth or legend? Why?
My fave legend is Ragnarok. I think this is the most epic end-of-the-world story ever. I first saw a version of it in an old movie called Atlantis 2 and it really amazed me. I just like the idea of one final heroic battle of the Gods and all the mythical creatures and monsters against them. It's a true fight of the elements and no one really wins. Gods can fall too, just like us, and on the ruins of a burnt down world there's a chance of something new to rise.
7.What is your favorite mythical creature? Why?
Mermaids. I have a thing for the sea and the mysterious underwater world, so for me it's no question that mermaids are the best.
8.If you could have the same powers as a creature and/or deity from mythology or legends, what would it be? Why?
Tough choice. I'd say, I'd chose something to do with the elements, like control the storms or the seas, something that you can put your feelings in and just let it all go and express yourself. I don't want to read minds, reign over people or see the future etc.
9.What is your advice other writers who want to use mythology in their story?
Don't be afraid to use clichés! You can always find your own twist that can turn the old tales and symbols into something new. For example: I use the old cliché of a Norse warrior chosen by a god, but instead of Odin or Thor, I chose a god with a not so good reputation: Loki. You can always find something new to spice these tales and myths up a bit and give them a new meaning, so don't be afraid if something has been many times before your story. Make it your own!
That's it for the month, it was fun getting to know about Cs3ng3. You can check her stories featured in our reading list as well as her other works.
