How The Zane Stole Christmas

I stood outside in the calm and chilling air as the snow fell into my hair, it was Christmas Eve, tomorrow was Christmas and I just couldn't wait. Every year I love Christmas, and the things that go down there. The cookies, the gifts, the screams, even the mistletoe is a favorite. And that coming from the girl that hid the one on her house around the back of it. I could hear Laurance and Dante snickering from around the corner as they were waiting for Garroth to come around. Those three have been snowball crazy all day. I couldn't help but look when I heard Garroth fall to the ground and the others laughing. I chuckled a bit myself. Across the street, I saw Aaron and Aphmau talking, a pair that definitely had their bests, at their worsts. Mostly with Aaron. Zane had walked by after Aaron left, but Celestia ran off before Aphmau could say anything to him. She was probably going to invite him over for Christmas as she did with me. I did accept, and I hope she gets around to Zane so he can accept as well. I have the other half of my gift to give him, which I finally finished. Stored away safely in my garage until I can give it to him.

I heard a large bark from Diego as I began my way inside. The fire was prelit and the house was all nice and toasty. A few of my tools were out, for my bike in the garage, and for Miss. Garnet's dress. Which was almost complete. Diego was good at staying away from it, knowing that he had to leave because of her allergies. He's a smart boy like that.

"Alright Diego, how about, movies, some hot tea, and we call it a night?" I say and he lets out a bark to our endless Christmas Traditions. We've never once slept into Christmas, we always stay up until a little after midnight. I do it with him like that every year he's been with me. Though, this year, he had another idea. He ran over, grabbed my phone from the counter, and dropped it to my lap. Diego wanted me to call him, but I knew he wouldn't answer. "No boy. He's still in the coma, was when we left, is now." I didn't know for a fact, but I didn't want to call him anyway. I needed to forget that side of things, a side of things that my family was a part of. Again though, he nudged my phone. I threw my phone across the room and leaned back. Diego soon resting his head against my leg as I began flicking on Christmas movies. One after another. Until he fell asleep, taking up the whole couch. By the time I came back with my tea he was sprawled out as if he was a human sleeping there overnight. "Heh. Okay, okay. You can sleep there..." I give him a small pet on the head and walk outside with my tea. I clear off an area on the walkway to my porch and sit there. Watching the world around me. My own, more private, Christmas Tradition. Oh, the things I would do, the thoughts I would have, the chills down my spine, everything about today just makes me glad.

"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas," I began singing softly, "Just like the ones I used to know. Where the treetops glisten and children listen. To hear sleigh bells in the snow. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know. Where the treetops glisten and children listen. To hear sleigh bells in the snow. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. With every Christmas card, I write. May your days be merry and bright~" I took a breath and opened my eyes to the snow around me. The air was cold, but, made my face warm. It was the time of year I loved, and I'm glad about this, that everything was right at this moment. I looked over to the garage and smiled, locked from the inside of my house, and the outside here. No Grinch is getting in my house tonight. I stood up and began walking back to my house, humming the rest of the words to white Christmas. Ending the song as I shut my door quietly, put out the fire, and headed upstairs. The window was wide opened and there was a small box sitting on the windowsill. It was a small blue metallic box, with a black bow on top, also metallic. I picked it up and sat down on my bed, dropping it the second I saw the writing on the tag. There was no way... I picked the box up again and looked at the tag.

Can't get rid of easy MK. We live here now. Hope to see you soon. If you ever wanna come out that is.
~Charlie and Antonio

I smiled softly at their names. Those two... heh. What could they have done this time? I slipped the top off the box and saw a galaxy sweatshirt with dark blue jeans. I smiled and shook my head. They always knew what I liked, huh? I took it out to see a picture underneath it. I picked it up and looked at it. It was a picture of all three of us together one year. Me in the middle with my brown hair tied into a messy crown braid and this stupid old panda hoodie I used to wear all the time. Both had black hair and skin to match, almost, though Charlie had purple eyes and Antonio had blue, they looked almost similar. They were twins though. Antonio had his blue hat on with his blue sweatshirt that had his lucky number 38 on it. Charlie had his music hoodie on with so much neon I'm surprised the boy could still see. It hurt my eyes just to look at it. I smiled and slipped the picture onto my mirror above my dresser. Out of everything, I think I'll remember those two. More family than what anyone would ever believe. Afterward, I slipped into bed and curled myself up, watching the clock as it went from 11:59, to 12:00.

"Merry Christmas," I whispered before falling into a deep sleep.

The blinds were left open which reflected a piercing light through my window and down to my face. It was as if, everything was, normal. I got up and dressed in my new galaxy hoodie then headed off to Aph's for Christmas. Not before getting Diego and unlocking my garage to get the rest of Zane's gift.

"Hey, Kya!" Laurance shouted and waved us over. I smiled and walked over to them, Diego at my side as they asked what the gift was that I had.

"It's something for Zane," I say, "I wanted to thank him for watching Diego awhile back. Especially since Diego has taken such a liking to him." I smile as we begin to head to Aphmau's house. Full of cheer I might add, as everyone smiled and gathered around. Zane stood away from the crowd as I thought that he might, until I came over, giving him a small fright. I jumped from behind him and gave him a scream. Handing out to him his gift, because, I didn't want to be mean. "Merry Christmas Zane. This is the other half."

"Oh yeah, from that glass box you gave me. I can only imagine what this is," Zane said as he began to open it.

"Well, I heard you like MLH and... I don't know which ones you have so, I made you one," I tell him as he takes it out. It was a small grey pony with a black tail and black hair that dripped over one side of its blue eyes. The cutie mark on the back was a cupcake since I heard he liked those too. "This is one of a kind... A ZO."

"A ZO?" Zane questioned, still staring at the pony in his hands.

"A Zane Original. I made it so it'd look like you," I say, "As a Christmas gift, and a thank you for watching my little Devil." I dropped down to Diego and began scruffing up his fur and giggling.

"T-Thank, you..." He says as I smile and begin to head into the living room.

"Don't mention it Cupcake," I say and drop myself next to Garroth. Soon enough Aphmau walked in, and I could see the mistletoe just above those two. I giggled to myself as everyone turned and watched them.

"Uhh?" Zane said.

"Hmm?" Aphmau questioned in that happy voice of hers. Zane let out a chuckle and kept on with saying his thoughts allowed, "There's no way you'd-" Smoothly Aphmau shuts him up and kisses his cheek. "EHH!"

"Heheh, now, can you give everyone's stuff back please?" Aphmau asked as if nothing happened.

"Uh, only because they're stuff is terrible anyway," Zane stated.

"Heh, okay," Aph agreed. I closed my eyes and stood up for a second. There was one tradition I wasn't ready to give up. I walked over to Aphmau and asked if I could use her phone, then, dialed in the numbers and whistled for Diego to come to my side. I shut my eyes again, listening to the ring in my ear. Until I heard a voice.

"Hello?" It said. A girl's voice. I voice I knew a little too well... And I liked that.

"Hey, Kyra..." I say quietly, "It's Kya." I let out a slightly nervous chuckle and walked around the bend to move from the crowd. "Is Jason there?" There was no answer, I could hear talking, but, faintly. It scared me... not knowing what to do.

"Hey Ky," I heard a voice say. I tried to speak, but I couldn't. I wanted to say something, but the words wouldn't come out. I slipped to the floor with nothing, "Hey, I've gotta go. Jeremy's opening his Ultra Gift... remember those?" Again I stayed quiet. I didn't know why. I just did. "Yeah... yeah, well hey, out of that coma. Glad it was in time for Christmas..." Christmas. That's right, I did have something to say.

"Merry Christmas..." I almost whisper. I don't know if he was, but a sense in me was saying he was smiling, "From Diego and I."

"Yeah, well Merry Christmas to you too. Hope we can see you soon Ky," He says and Aaron comes around the corner. He's standing over me with a blank expression, "Oh! Buddy hold on! Sorry, Ky, I've gotta go he's ripping into it. See ya!" Before I could say anything else, the line went dead, and the phone dropped from my ear. I smiled a bit, standing up to try and reach Aaron's level. I was too short, but not Aphmau short thankfully. Aaron quickly pulled me into a warming hug and I could feel him smile as I dropped the phone.

"It's a good thing to reach out to him," He said and I pulled my arms to hug him back.

"Yeah... but, that's not gonna always happen... he's got his life... his family," I say and stare over to everyone in the living room. Then back to Aaron and Diego, "And I've got mine."

"So do I," Aaron says and we head back to join the party, "So, how many kids does he have now?"

"From the sounds of it, one. But you never know with him," I tell Aaron and jump back into my seat next to Garroth.

"Who has a kid now?" Dante questioned with this stupid flirty look in his eyes.

"No one," I say and ignore the rest of him. All in all, that was the best Christmas I've had, in a long time. Even with the surprise gift from Charlie and Antonio. Maybe I would see those two seen. Maybe I'd see Jason, Kyra, and their little boy soon. Maybe I wouldn't. But right now. Everyone here. They're my family.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL FAMILIES!!
