The start
2014- Napa, California
A 14 year old dawn was sitting down by the river, making a crown of flowers for her mom. Her black hair loose from her ponytail. Her hazel eyes focused on the object in front of her. She wore a black dress with a red flower on it. Her shoes were caked with mud. She was tall for her age but She had a round face, a heathy body and no birthmarks.
It was late afternoon and the sun was just starting to set. The house which was placed on a hill out in the vineyards was a stone gray color. It was maybe a hundred years and needed new repairs added to it. There was a small fireplace in the living room which was on the right side of the house. The dining room was on the left side. The kitchen was to the back of the room which had a back door leading to the river next to it. Upstairs, there was bathroom next to her mother's room on the left side of the house.
Dawn's room was on the right side. Dawn hadn't noticed any thing wrong until that evening when her mother had burned the flowers in the fireplace. Her mother looked more pale than she normally did. She would also sometimes snap at her when she said something. " Dawn. Just go upstairs to your room." Her mom said sighing.
Dawn went up to her room. Her room was small. In the far left corner was her bed. Next to it was the dresser. Then right next to that was the bookshelf. The window was in the middle of the wall towards the road leading towards Sonoma.
There wasn't as many toys in the room. But Dawn found other ways to pass the time. She sat on her book reading. Her shoes on the floor, still caked with mud.
Then her mom came in. " Dawn. I am heading out to go to the store to get some things. Want anything?" She said hugging her. Dawn just nodded her head no and looked back at her book. Her mom looked at her for a few moments then left the room.
A hour went by. Then an hour became a few days. Then she saw on tv that her mom was killed.
Dawn was scared. She didn't know what to do. She was covered with dirt and her hair was messy. She had stayed in the house hopping that her mom would come home. Then she decided to leave the house in hopes of finding her mom's killer.
She packed anything she could fit into her backpack.
She had known about a sword that her mom kept hidden in her room and had decided to take it with her. The sword was shaped like a cross but the blade itself gave off a light that almost resembled a Quartz. She took it and tied it to her backpack and left the house.
